Started out good had a knee injection lasted about 3 weeks, had a shoulder injection that didn't last one day, am very skeptical but am in enough pain that I need to go back. I have to say, yesterday was my first visit to see & meet Dr Andrew Chen, I sat for over an hour in a room to see him & when finally approached with his presence sayed hello & automatically said to me we need to talk ,grant you he was basically the only one talking & asked only a couple of questions, not even checking my records , saying to me that the reason why I was there to see him was because I am abusing my use of medicine, that I have been on for past 5yrs without any problems until now & is taking me off of All medicine & putting me on a medication that takes All trace of past medicine out of my system & basically that be it with No follow up or anything. I have degenerative disk disorder( Meaning deterioration of my back bone & is very painful) I am NOT a person to whom is dependent on anyone or anything. I don't care what kind of vice I need to be on as long as it helps with the pain. If I am paying to see a Doctor, I am Damm sure I am going to get one that cares about me & NOT just an statistic. My first 3 visits with DR/NP were great. My last 3 visits the office staff were overall incompetent; bordering on malpractice. (I think; I just got the paperwork from the state.) I show up for my Aug appointment and was hit with an astronomical bill for a simple UA (a $40-$60 test at any Dept of Transportation sight) I showed them what I had paid before; they admitted it was much higher: pay it or leave. I talked to their billing and their office manager: pay it or leave. I offered to pay THE CORRECT amount and we could work out the problem later. "I'm in your office now." NO. Pay it or leave. I spent 45 mins on the phone with my insurance and their billing team. They ADMITTED it was THEIR MISTAKE. I shouldn't have been over charged and turned away. To their credit they gave me a bridge prescription to cover until a Sept 1st appointment. -- ON Sept 1st THEY called me and CANCELLED my appointment. (I guess they wanted to get a jump on the 3 day weekend) I was forced to reschedule to 9/6. Again they said they would provide a bridge prescription until 9/6. EXCEPT THEY DIDN'T. They hurried off for the weekend leaving a patient (actually more of a billing code to them rather than an actual patient) without meds. I'm a 63 yr-old who has lived with pain now for decades ........ You should be ashamed of yourselves. read more

I'm waiting for a procedure to be warranted. She demanded of me, that my lawyers must pay up front. She stated that the bill was too high. I get it. That's between your and them. I'm supposed to get better. The doctors care.... They don't. Update they responded with the same response they give everyone. I can't respond to them on Google, or I don't know how. If they would like to give me a way to respond I think it would help reviewers know they care. The LOP department knew that I'd most likely need future treatment since the ones I'm going under don't last. She could have asked my attorneys under their agreement once she got concerned with the bill. Instead she waited until I need a new procedure to help me to demand money up front from them. Two weeks ago when I reached out to her about the delay, she said I'd be responsible for it all. Here I am later with something that could have been sorted out before the pain reoccured. On my visit October 5th I was greeted by Eric C and he was the kindest person and was going out of his way to help a mobility patient. Once I was in the back to see Timothy Hilton he was very thorough and helped with all of my concerns. He had a wonderful bed sized manner. Mr. Carson Flores came in to help me with my upcoming treatments. All of these gentlemen were so kind and professional. The nurses were very sweet and nice. This is by far the best location for APC. I want to share my journey with APC- it covers several of their location (South Austin, Central Austin (Lamar St), Kyle, Round Rock) there are several people I'd like to Thank (some in remote locations with names I do not have, however if my name is familiar to you, this includes you) I was referred by my PCP for Pain Management and Surgery follow-up due to an unexpected fall off My Horse, several broken bones, Tendons torn from both elbows, and left leg, my back from Tzone to Tailbone had nerve damage, bulging disk, etc. My quality of life seemed unbearable but this Team has been putting every effort into repairing, assisting Ortho Surgeon, Urologist, even Botox Injections in Bladder Platform (this was the Urologist suggestion) it's been several years, each getting better, and the whole Team treats me with Compassion, Empathy and most of All Respect, and I want to return that to them by sharing my experiences! As I rest here after a procedure Dr Ryan Michaud and his Team at South Austin Surgery Center did this morning, I am Grateful for another Success. Dr.Malone, I have been a patient of Advanced Pain Care for over 11 years. Some of the reasons that I need help are over 216 kidney stones which took away the calcium meant for teeth and bones. Thereby causing back problems. I've had 6 back surgeries, and returning home from one of the surgeries, I tripped over a root and broke my neck. I've had 4 neck surgeries. I have had total knee replacement in my left knee and everything that can be removed from a person, has been removed from me. I have had surgery to remove a parathyroid gland and tumor and a paroid gland and tumor. My point is I came here for pain management. I now am at the point that this isn't being managed. I have done everything y'all wanted. I requested to start coming down from the 80 mg tid of oxycontin. But after that I have had my medicine cut. I currently get 40 mg.bid. I have the implant and the only thing I asked was to continue my Norco. I can take that and it works faster. This was agreed on but my last appt. they were cut 40 pills. My pain is constantly with me. Now I have another problem. I am having surgery on my left temple for temple arthritis. I'm sorry this is long but I never see you. And this is no reflection on Dr. Michald. Be has been very good to me. I know the gov. has caused the problem but that exists with people not obeying the law. They will continue as always just like the gun control issue. I'm 70 years old, the pain is real. And at this point, not being controlled. Please, I need your help. I am willing to continue with the 40 mg of oxy bid but I really need my Norco back up to 160 please. Currently, my fibromyalgia is not coming and going but just staying. Thank you for your time. Dr. Paul Le is a very caring doctor with great respect for his pain patients. My pain pump working nicely reducing my pain from 8-9 down to 3-4 and improving as my pain pump doses and bolus are in a fine tune process.the nursing and staffs at Advanced Pain Care are wonderful. I am a recovering addict living with chronic pain. I am also a combat veteran. The purpose of my visit was to establish myself with a doctor to take over pharmaceutical and clinical pain management. My Veterans Affairs pain management team reached the conclusion that I will require long-term narcotics, possibly for the rest of my life. During my appointment with Dr. Paul Le, I was transparent about my history of addiction. I understand Dr. Le's reluctance to administer narcotics to a recovering addict. That is not my complaint. Dr. Le admonished me about my addiction, dismissed anything I said and asserted, "You're an addict, which means you'll use again!" I left his office feeling degraded, judged and attacked. Unfortunately, there is a clear lack of accountablility when a physician can ignore the principles of dignity, nondiscrimination and equality. This is one of the most disappointing health care experiences I've ever had... The doctor (Dr. Ryan Michaud) - upon walking into the room & before introducing himself or asking any questions about my situation - wanted to let me know that he cannot prescribe opiates if I did not supply a urine sample. That's fine, but I didn't necessarily come there for opiates. I didn't know what I was coming there for - that's why I was seeing a doctor!! This spoke volumes, as it became clear to me right away that these folks were licensed drug dealers, not doctors. I was looking for help with chronic tension headaches & migraines. I told the doctor that I've previously been prescribed a particular drug that helped relieve the headaches but had particular side effects that I was experiencing. I explained that I ultimately decided to ween myself off of that drug with the help of a PCP. Weening yourself off of a drug that alters the chemicals in your brain is not an easy or fun process. So what does the doctor do? He prescribes me the same exact drug & then explains that I should just take it at night so I can go to sleep if I feel the side effects. What?! Dr. Ryan Michaud is the kind of doctor that contributes to the poor state of our health care system. He treated me like a number, barely looking me in the eyes or bothering to explain anything. If you're looking for a licensed drug dealer that pushes narcotics like it's candy, then this might be your place. However, if you're looking for a doctor that actually takes a minute of their time to get to really understand & care-for your situation, then stay far away. read more

I just move to Austin and we're referred to Advance pain care, from the time I walked in the office I knew I found the right place, my doctor's name is Dr Ryan Michaud he is one of nicest people you can come in contact with. His bedside manners are straight out of med school and I would not trade him for the world, he has given me a new lease on life and a more positive view on how pain should be managed I definitely would recommend him and his team to anyone who is going through a great deal of pain. Mistakes in records! We decided to get a copy of records last week, as we prepare to search for another doctor. The girl,(PA?) who sees us said, "You won't find anyone better than us." (Trying to manipulate with fear) I was shocked to see that the records contain MANY errors!! Intentional wording to cover their butts bc of the too rapid decreases in medications? There are wrong diagnoses added; we only have one Diagnosis. They added several others. They also say for each visit, , "Patient reports feeling 40% better(or sometimes 60% or 50%)" This is absolutely untrue!! Recently, we've only discussed greater pain! All while the 1-10 scale indicated more pain as well. This is a serious mistake. The records indicate a physical examination was performed, as range of motion and other things are mentioned. No one examines, ever! There is the person who takes temperature and BP, and who consequently never smiles. But no other exam is performed. I urge others to look at your own records. It's worth the $25. If you also find mistakes-report to your insurance, Medicare or Texas Medical Board. If all is well, there should be no problem. The doctors have nothing to fear if they are being honest. Leave yelp reviews. I realize that they may know who I am by name on this review. Again, if all is on the up and up, they have nothing to fear. I'll update review if things change for the better. We must have a voice! We are not powerless. . We continue our search for a new doctor. I'll update here when/if we leave this practice and find a better one. read more

This Place is the WORST in refilling your RX. The doctor says do not miss a dose of this strong medicine for your pain. I have to call them 3 and 4 times to get the refill. The pharmacy I use faxes the Refill to them, no word. This place is bad. Stay away. Go to a different doctor and location. We are going to move to a new facility and totally new doctor. The frustration to beg for the pain med, that the DOCTOR SAYS DON"T MISS A DOSE.... how can he take his med's if no one calls the Pharmacy to provide the refill??? NOPE, we are done!!!!! Several years later since my last review. Still 5 stars. Consistent. Awesome. Im very lucky to have Dr Ryan Michaud. He's kind and on top of it. He is so busy but always asks how I am doing (not just my pump). When you have a hunk of metal in your body (even if it saved my life) it can be a bit of a bummer to be tied to monthly medical care. APC makes it feel like family. I wanna check out the Central location on 38th closer to my place but I like the staff in South Austin so much I dunno if Im willing to go elsewhere unless forced. In times past I would have given them a five star review, so perhaps I am not being fair...The NP Mary Jo, new to me, was very judgmental and condescending towards me. I sent in a release for information to another doctor (signed) on February 16, 2018 and have called their medical records department at least 4 times and they still have not sent my records. Each time I call, they tell me they are sorry they didn't get around to it. Really? I will NEVER go back to Dr. Ahmed even though he is a decent doctor. I am so glad I was referred to Advanced Pain Care. My initial consult was with Dr Malone. He explained plan of care and I agreed with him. The staff treats me with respect. Kary and Vincent always greet me by name. I see Emily and Marissa for my visits. They both are caring and actually listen to my concerns. I never feel rushed. They both address my pain levels and quality of life and have been helpful with adjusting my medications. The staff has been helpful with scheduling my appointments when fewer patients are there. I am sensitive to fragrances and cigarette smoke. I have been going for a year and I have been seen at or before my scheduled appointment time. read more

The PA gets you in real quick but you end up waiting an hour or more for the doctor to sign the prescription. There isn't even an open seat for patients to come in due to all the patients waiting to receive their prescriptions and leave. Complete disregard for people's time. read more

I have never seen a practice with more negative reviews then this one. Really, do your self a favor and don't go there. There are other options for you. If you have been stable on medication for a long time, see if your regular doctor can prescribe your meds. That is what I did and I am so much better off. With my internist, I went from 100 mg of morphine twice a day to 15 mg twice a day. I am so much better and my pain is controlled. I even went to Mexico for a few months and found a doctor to prescribe my morphine - all with the knowledge of my internist. I tell her everything because she is caring and doesn't judge me. I have never taken a urine test because a REAL doctor can tell if you are bullshi**ing them. And that is because a REAL doctor spends more than a few minutes with you. My doctor will spend an hour or more if that is what is needed. read more

I particularly want to thank Dr. Malone for the way he treated me as a patient. He was very thorough in his explanation of what my procedure would involve and accurate on the end results. He has a very laid back manor that immediatly calmed my anxiety and fears. I felt comfortable with him as my doctor. I have since chosen Dr. Malone as the doctor for my son. If you are looking for an office that returns phone calls or provides great patient care I would look elsewhere. My husband scheduled his surgery 2 months in advance. I called multiple times and left messages to go over Financials and we finally received a text message about our portion due on Friday at 5:00 pm 3 days before his surgery. With multiple calls and emails I never received a call back. We were told services must be paid in full at the time of check in. Since my husband needed surgery of course I paid in full however a call back would have been appreciated. Nothing. Now a day after the surgery we have tried and tried to get in touch with the doctor to get his pain under control and again multiple calls to the office beginning at 9 am it's almost 5 and still can't get a call back. One would think after major surgery the doctor or someone from the office would call to check on their patient and we have not received anything. The surgeon himself was great it's great however this office is not very patient friendly. We did receive a text however that they canceled his post stop appointment and no call to reschedule. The office visit charge at APC is actually reasonable compared to many pain care providers (like $150 cheaper than the other place in South Austin)... this place tries to be fair, that speaks volumes. I've come here for a few years now and met most of the doctors, nurses and reception... Emily and Kari (front desk) are absolute gems... for the crap they must deal with every day, they're always kind, compassionate and positive... dealing with cranky muppets like you reviewers takes it's toll on a person day-after-day... the people at this facility actually TRY not to allow it to get to them... that also speaks volumes. I've met Dr. Michaud and others as well, all with positive experiences... in fact, the service at this facility has gotten even better in the last year... not that I had any real complaints before, but they seem to get me in-and-out even faster than usual... also billing is online now, love that (I pay everything online, sooo much easier to deal with). Second month in a row that there was NO receptionist. We waited 10 minutes downstairs with no person showing up. We went upstairs and there was no one there for 10 minutes. When going to the window to sign in we were told that someone tried to call on the 20th for my mom to reschedule. My mom is 89 years old and doesn't always hear the phone. We did get to see a practioner within 10 min of my discussion with the receptionist. We were in and out so fast after that. As someone who used to work there, I cannot stress enough to please look elsewhere for care. While many of the employees are wonderful, smart, and caring, the leadership cares more about profits than patients. I've witnessed highly unethical behavior take place there, including doctors not inform patients when critical mistakes were made. Furthermore, their business manager, Wendy has been known to influence some of the medical decision making, a result of her suspiciously close relationship to the practice owner, Dr. Malone. Dr. Malone appears to be a nice man, but please don't be fooled; when he sees patients, dollar signs matter most. Wendy and Dr. Malone run the practice as a way to squeeze as much money as possible out of people in pain, and their business is a representation of what is wrong with the American healthcare system. read more

I made an appt with the Georgetown office and Doctor Bradley Culling. I found this man to be the most inept person I have ever ran across. He could care less about listening to you. He prescribed some crap that was so new there is not a generic option. I have good insurance & still paid $130 @ the pharmacy. I told this moron that I did not want this stuff when I was in his office but he insisted. Again, he doesn't listen. This stuff makes me sick & I could not take it. Sent this moron an email the next day saying he needs to provide with something else. He said I would to wait 30 days until my next appt. I hope no one is ever subjected to the treatment I have received recent,y. I was schedule on my pain meds renewal date and was told RX would be called in on the same day as I was out of meds. I am now in great pain because I was not schedule at the appropriate time . There should be no excuse for what is happening and allowing a Pain patient to suffer needlessly had proper protocol been made. I understand now the doctor has 24 hours to fil but is up to this group to ensure patients are NEVER left alone and with out medication that allows them to work and even not be able to sleep. It's 1 o'clock in the a.m. and here sitting in excruciating pain in tears because this group doesn't care enough about insuring their valued patients are taken care of. It is also very concerning that this group does not tell their patients about having diluted urine and just out of nowhere had you go see an Addiction Specialst after doing all the steps necessary to reduce pain, (including placing a spinal Cord Stimulator)and quanties. I went from taking 6 to 8 pain pills a day for chronic back pain to 3 a day after giving in to a Spinal Cord Stimulator that has only masked the pain if I do nothing but sit or lay down. I'm very active working out in the field 8 to 10 hours and am a very productive member of society! For that I am very proud of and see no reason to not tell me about my urine and just send me to an addiction specialist and not schedule me appropriately. I am very sad to say I will find treatment elsewhere because of such a hostile environment. read more

Dr Ryan Michaud at APC in south Austin is only interested in selling you spinal stimulator implants. If you don't want one or have been told that it will not help your pain, do not go to this practice. He has little empathy for his patients, does not talk to you or answer questions and most of the time you don't even see him if you 'are uncooperative' with what HE wants. He is only concerned about himself and his career and will 'terminate you' from the entire Advanced Care Group without explanation. The staff there are nice and helpful but this is one heartless doctor. read more
