we bought a pass this year and used it once. Water was unbelievably dirty, I wouldn't let my granddaughter put her face in the water. The lifeguards were not even in the water. The few adults in the water were only standing, no one was swimming. . The only dock was broken so no diving board. We tried twice to buy from contains no one ever answered the bell. The managers of this park are so incredibly friendly and kind. They are very helpful and accommodating. The lake has everything a family would need to have a fun day in the water! Not sure about the campgrounds themselves; seems to have a lot of year round campsites. read more

I have been camping at state and private campgrounds my whole life and was never treated the way I was here. The owners micromanaged and changed the rules constantly, they overcharged for electric, you had to pay to take a shower and more. It was my husbands and kids first camper camping experience and it was so bad that my husband said he would never go camping again and put the camper up for sale and the kids do not even want to go back. We paid for the whole season and we were kicked out for wanting to sell our camper. Not the experience I had as a kid, it was very disappointing. read more

We had a picnic here with a group from church and we had an absolute blast. The owners were very kind to us and extremely accommodating. It was a super rainy day and the lifeguards had left but when our kids expressed interest in swimming the owner sat out in the rain to lifeguard until one of the lifeguards returned. We are so thankful for their kindness and because of them being so accommodating to us we were able to have a blast even though the weather was crummy. read more

This was my favorite place because I always went outside to play with friends in my younger ages but I still miss the old workers but the new ones are a little not on the nice side but that's good overall because it's nice to have people that watch out for the place but overall I loved the place because of the campground, and lake and fun things read more

I would NOT recommend a membership at The Lake, but in trying to give a fair review... This was our third summer of having a swimming membership at the Lake. On the positive side, we thoroughly enjoyed our friends and the sand and sunshine. The inflatables are super fun, and the diving boards provide a great challenge as the kids try out different dives. My kids enjoyed the gaga ball and mini golf. We've had a lot of fun there. On the negative side, the owner has an unpredictable temper. Over the years, I have watched people be berated by the owner for infractions that seemed very minor to me. I feared the owner and his verbal assault of people. However, the positives of the Lake outweighed this for our family. Also, the owner could be kind and friendly at times. Today, we had our membership revoked from the Lake. My sons had climbed the ladder to a slide two at a time, instead of one at a time. When they heard the lifeguard's whistle, they immediately stopped. Then, they got in trouble for climbing on a red pole in the water. I should have noticed the double-slide-climbing and put a stop to it, but overall, I'm used to my sons climbing and having fun at home, and it seemed like normal pre-teen and teenage boy behavior to me. Following this, my oldest son got in trouble for hitting a rock on the ground with a golf club. Legitimately, I see this as a problem, as we would never want to damage property in any way. The owner yelled at my sons. I watched them act respectively repentant, telling him, "Yes, sir." Then the owner called me over and through lecture and overreaction, revoked our membership. Maybe because neither my children nor I were rude, the owner did not verbally assault us the same way I've seen him speak to so many others. If you are considering a membership at the Lake, there are definite positives! If you have preschoolers or all daughters, I could recommend this place, if you do not get upset by overt and unpredictable anger. If you have teenage or pre-teen sons, I would recommend finding a better place to do your swimming. Also, if you want to have your family at a place where you will not need to fear temper, moodiness, and verbal assaults from the owner, you'd do better elsewhere. Overall, I'd give this man and his wife our prayers, but I don't recommend supporting him with any money. read more

The manager our owner can be rude and very disrespectful to campers and their guests. There has been multiple attempts to have a meeting with campers and the owner and none have happened. They want to charge people just for picking up or dropping off guests. And only certain campers get in trouble for speeding, but it's very rare for any of them, you have people reaching almost 20mph on a gravel road with children in the back. I think if your going to reprimand one, you should reprimand all. read more

Mike i couldn't agree more! The park used to be kinda on the cluttered side, some campers left some to be desired, but all in all the people and good times and reasonable rates kept every lot full every year. Some campers would pay for the whole year just to keep open if they had a chance to come out once or twice. The lake was ALWAYS taken Excellent care of by Dan ( the previous manager) and park up front was always nice clean and for most part full! Now under new management,(what a oxymoron!) the place is in dire straights! The campers that have been around for years (paying every year) have been getting weeded out more and more. A verbal depute between the owner/manager of the park has resulted in people being told to get there structures and personal property out and never come back.....one of which camper was called a "mommas boy" for helping his mother ( that has raised this person at the park for 30 yrs) before doing something owner requested, resulting in verbal depute and being kicked out. This has run many regulars out resulting in the campground being at least 25% EMPTY and monies not coming in. Now the bills come in to the park...probably taxes, electric, etc. and he just keeps changing the due dates and amounts an he sees fit. giving an email notice of changes few weeks before expects bills paid. In the beginning saying "NO RULES OR ANYTHING WILL CHANGE" he has done the exact opposite. Asking for a winter storage due by 'X' to keep lot, then oh, you need a deposit to to hold the spot for next year due by X , and now cost more than last year up front and then hitting us with the electric bills, which he charges whatever he feels fit.,...18 cents!!! way high! .....He wired in the new "meters" in with unlicensed people or himself(same thing) making mistakes hooking other lots to peoples meters accidentally few places.... And why, i don't know, hasn't charged just based on meters yet, told one camper that his bill wasn't high enough so he had to pay the minimum when he isn't there but on weekends... He has already got involved in Legal conflicts with a few campers. Now the park manager says place is being beautified and all are expected to clean up get any "not camp related stuff" out, meanwhile leaving railroad ties with spikes sticking out of them sitting all over lots he puts tent campers on, and back hoe that has sat leaking stuff all over for 6-8 weeks now and tearing campers down.......WOW that's smart right in front of brand new camper and customer take 3-4 weeks tearing down and burning in place leaving a mess everywhere....nails screws, glass etc. And then to top it all off..don't finish one start on tearing 2-3 campers apart and not finish any for weeks....Several campers left abandoning there lots.....nothing has been done to clean up the campers he isn't "tearing down to make the place look better" Now he said he is fixing roads...he dumps huge chunks of busted concrete sharp edges and all exposed all down his washed out ruts...said was gonna cover with gravel ....never happened. mind we all have kids riding bikes all around park, and this just seems to be major hazard... public showers are unisex.....WHAT....yup and took forever to re-do, and now doors stick and something isn't right to be "out of order" Gray water is a joke, nothing drains, its a clay hill, it wont. so you have that gray water smell on top of the water smelling. god could only say what would happen if EPA got involved there.......there has to be many code violations for a public camp facility from electric bathrooms showers ,etc The front and lake is maintained nothing like it used to be....so they added some rock climbing inflatables....wopdy-due now i could go on and on about things like this but it would turn into a book.... but i will say that now there are another 20+ camp sights wanting to sell or leave. saying they will not come back to deal with this guy, seeing a few wanting to sell he tacks on a $250 fee for "processing paper work if you want to sell and a huge process is created to even sell.... I believe if this man is not confronted with all the people at one time one place, and decide to roll a different way of business into the game here....he will literally run out the rest of his business resulting in way higher prices or an closed sign at the gate! We have been members of the Lake for at least six years. We have camped for the last two seasons! We had never heard of the Lake, or Loyal Oak as it was previously called until a friend invited us out for the day. I had no idea that a place like this existed near us. It's hidden down a country road and is the most relaxing way to spend a summer afternoon. No, it's not a pool. No, it's not a hipster place. It's nostalgic! It's reminiscent of simpler summer days. People will come back and comment that it looks just like it did when they were kids...and that's not a bad thing. :) It seems like we, as parents, are so wrapped up in making everything comfy and the best for our kids that we forget to just let them be kids! This is the place that lets them be kids! They can run and play forever! They can swing and climb and go to the batting cage. They can play putt-putt golf and ride bikes! Then, they can cool off by jumping in a lake that now has inflatables! There is a concession stand that is reasonably priced and has been a highlight of our daughter's lake visits...we always have to have our snack money in the bag! It's been under new ownership for the last two years and that is making ALL the difference in the world! Previously, the campground was run-down and in disrepair. The new owners have worked and worked to continually bring up the camping standard. It is a night and day difference in the appearance of the campground...and it's still happening! Every year improvements are made. This year many new campers are coming in and energy is building! When we looked at spots for our camper, we didn't even own a camper! We just knew from talking with the new owners that this place was going to turn around and we didn't want to miss out on having a great spot for the future! So, we got our spot and later found a camper. So very glad that we did this! It's a great place for our family to relax and make new friends! read more
