Explained renters had two young kids and I didn't want to leave them hanging over the weekend. He shared he could be out by evening and ended up there before 4 p.m. He had to order two parts for pickup in Stafford, VA, later Friday evening, after visual assessment that evening and come back following morning to fix and fire back up hot water heater. Problem solved. He made not one mention of it being an older model and/or suggest I change out as that has been my previous experiences with other companies. And, at 8 a.m. today (Monday), tech. Craig texted me making sure everything is still good as he knew my main concern of renter's kids and cold weather. The level of service and follow thru he/Red & Blue Services have had with me and with only placing two services calls in the past 2 years, both of which were minor tickets happening before or on the weekend, is truly remarkable and can't thank him enough for being super prompt and driving on a Friday night to get a part to replace following morning. Not to mention, I was anticipating an emergency or extra cost for afterhours/holiday weekend, and got an invoice less that expected. Highly recommend as he is truthful, efficient, very knowledgeable of gas and electric water heaters and over deliveries on follow thru when some other companies would postpone completion of service until nonholiday or weekend day.

I needed a well pump replacement estimate. The owner came out and as we were talking I was…read moreinforming him of a pressure situation I was having. He wanted to see the cycle stop valve that was just installed. He then wanted me to open up faucets in the house as he started to adjust the pressure on the valve. So after about 1/2 hour the pressure was adjusted correctly. So he also inspected the voltage and amp draw from my well pump and informed me that the pump was drawing more amps because with age they do that. So when we were walking out I essentially gave him a blank check because I didn't ask before now how much this was gonna cost me. My fault for letting him put hands on before an estimate was given! $325 for a simple adjustment or free adjustment if paying $1900 for a well pump replacement. Ouch. Ok. Agreed. Says he wanted $1000. down and the rest when completed. I agreed. Have him my CC info. About an hour later, all $1900 was taken off my card. Hmm Fast forward to the day of install. The 2 gentlemen. Very nice. Pulled my pump. Did all that needed to be done. When finishing up, didn't seat the wellhead cap on correctly. Nor did they connect the pvc pipe that the electrical wires run correctly. Oh, and no gasket. So it leaked water for almost 2 months from the top of the wellhead. Water draining into the electrical pipe. Black tape around the top of it. Not a very professional job by any means. Me, a first time well owner. Not knowing any better until now (5months later) that they should have run the well BEFORE re connecting to the house!! Running it to get the mud and crap out of the line so that crap( mud , clay) do not end up in your acid neutralizer and all your filters and, not to mention your water softener!! Oh ya, and your water heater!!!! It cost me just over $500 to get all of the media and resin replaced and my water heater flushed and sucked out! The mud and clay that was cooking in my water heater was smelling worse and worse. It was disgusting! I should have taken a picture of a sock type filter I had. It was full to the top with mud and clay. I can only imagine what would have happened if we would have drank this water. Live and learn every day! That's the only way one can be smarter! There were red flags all over this. Should have known.

We noticed some water leaking into the pan and Jacob, who was great, determined that we had to have one 5gal Expansion Tank and two Temperature and Pressure Relief Valves replaced. Where the problem comes in, is the outrageous pricing. They charged us aprox. $700 labor for a 1 hour job. The total time of the whole job with the consult was about two hours. With half that time being used chasing parts. He said that he didn't have the parts on the truck and had to go to both Lowes and Home Depot to find a tank. Not really my problem and I really don't think it's fair to include that time in my overall job. But, nonetheless they don't break it down. He just gave me an overall estimate of the job which was $914 after a $50 coupon. I asked him if it was a pretty fair price for the area, he said yes and I told him to go ahead and do it. I do take some responsibility in the fact that I didn't look through the iPad estimate myself and I assumed it was a fairly timely project. To my surprise, it took about 45 minutes from the time he walked into the basement with parts and was leaving my house. I was kind of left dumfounded at why a 45 min job cost so much, so I looked up the price of the actual parts. On the high end they would have cost about $200. So basically, I was charged $700 in labor for 45 total minutes of work. I called to speak to them about it afterwards and they explain some sort of overall job price that they use. They charge everyone the same whether your job takes 45 minutes or 4 -5 hours. I wasn't explained this or I would have looked for a second opinion. I thought I would be charged a fair price for MY specific job. That's not how they work I guess. I'm not naive to the fact that they have to factor in other costs, but that's just egregious in my opinion. So my recommendation is to get a SECOND opinion. Don't trust that it's a fair price like I did. I won't be recommending them on any review or my neighborhood FB page and will only caution people who ask. Their area manager called me to schedule the job, and they were able to fit me in by the end of the week. The Technician Chris showed up on time and did an excellent job -- he explained the work, asked multiple times if I had any questions, and best of all gave me a choice for how he would do the work -- I actually opted to skip installing a new valve and simply sleeve the replacement section, since there was already another shutoff valve installed before the old one. Less valves to worry about! He also made the sleeve extra long to remove some corrosion showing a foot before the valve. This was a 5-star experience and I will call them again the next time I need plumbing help!
