This certainly has been a trying spring and summer. Ryan initially came out on an emergency pipe…read morerepair on the weekend. He did a great job and recommended a water remediation company to dry out the house. Since the house is 30+ years old with copper pipes and we have acidic water he recommended a whole house repipe. I also mentioned the water heater was 15+ years old. He gave me 3 options and I chose to repipe, replace the water heater, and to consider the neutralizer next year. Materials were ordered and the crew worked hard completing the whole house in three days. That's quite a feat in a log cabin as nothing is easy. They were very professional, courteous and did a great job as always. Two weeks later I called them back for a slow storm drain after the July 2 hour storm which dumped 3.75" of rain.. They scoped it and located my problem. Now I can sleep soundly and get new floors installed without worry of them being ruined.

Vern's Plumbing has done good work for me twice in the last couple of years. But the last time,…read moreraising my hot water heater on a 3-inch box (that I provided) so the drip pan would have fall to the floor drain if the HWH leaked, was not an entirely good experience. The plumber was assertive about not putting the bricks back under HWH. My research found that it's a recommended practice to set the HWH on bricks though it could be done either way. I wanted the bricks back where they were. It was resolved after I spoke with his supervisor and the work was completed to my satisfaction. The price they charged was exorbitant ($1,340.05...and 5 cents!!!) but I accepted it because I just wanted it done. I thought I'd found my go-to plumber but after this experience, I'm not sure I'd use them again.

They clearly knew every detail of the code required in Fauquier County. They listened to my requirements, were very prompt and a the project was a good value. The county inspection was very straightforward. I will personally recommend this form to anyone who has a challenging plumbing project.

Big hype on selling us a water rite water softener that was supposed to also supposed to do the job of an acid neutralizer by correcting the PH levels. Were assured we did not need an acid neutralizer with this water softener and that it would be evident because we would no longer see blue and discoloration in our sinks, showers and tubs. Never happened. In fact, the tank blew out within the warranty period. Screaming Eagle refused to honor the warranty even though we had made consistent calls for help when the system was not working properly, requesting them to check the settings and find out why it was requiring several bags of salt per month. Promised several times they would come out to the house but never showed. When the system finally blew we were told it was because the salt tank was empty when they arrived. It was several days afterwards and why would we add salt to a broken system? We also reminded them about our previous messages and calls regarding the system requiring excessive salt, but they didn't recall. Asked about the promised warranty and were told we had to call the manufacturer. Called the manufacturer who agreed to replace the tank with confirmation from Screaming Eagle, but that never happened and the warranty expired soon after. We spent $7000 on this system because we have two disabled and medically complex children, one on a feeding tube, and both in wheelchairs, and we wanted their drinking water to be safe. We had to mostly buy bottled water anyway, even when the system was working because of the overabundance of salt in the water. We also had to pay plumbers twice to dislodge the salt from our faucets twice, and our pipes were getting pinholes and leaking due to acidic water. Their response was "Don't recall that you requested an acid neutralizer." Really? Screaming Eagle did not contact the manufacturer to advocate for us and offered no further assistance. The warranty expired and we have a blown water softener sitting in our basement with no way to remove it as we are in our 70s and disabled.
