Work was performed multiple times without prior approval or any written scope changes. Communication was extremely poor--many of our calls and emails went unanswered, and we often had to follow up repeatedly to get basic information. We also found ourselves continuously having to check if they were doing things properly. For example, they neglected to take moisture readings before removing the drying equipment to ensure that our house was indeed dry. Although they apologized, the same issues continued throughout the project. Dealing with a home mitigation situation is already stressful, and the lack of communication and clarity only made it worse. It is incredibly unsettling not knowing what is happening in your own home. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Harris Restoration, especially for insurance-related work, where clear documentation, transparency, and consistent communication are essential.

We found Brighten Restoration through a search on-line and, although they are a relatively new company, we liked the fact that they are local so asked them to come out to inspect and quote for the job. They came out on a Monday, went into the attic and took photos of the mold and provided a written quote by e-mail the same day. We hired them to remove it so they returned on the Wednesday with full gear and got the job done in less than an hour. We're very impressed with their prompt, professional service. They carefully opened up the tile area around the tub--minimizing damage--and opened the ceiling below to run fans and test moisture levels. The whole experience was professional and white glove treatment all around (e.g., always removed shoes in the home, magically left no dust in the bathroom after cutting up the tile, and somehow trapped all the blown-in insulation). Grateful for their care, expertise, and willingness to engage in a small job. The tub wasn't covered under insurance, but they recommended another company for a warranty repair that did a great job. We had two back to back very small bathrooms. We also had a hallway that went all the way through the interior of the house - from the front door to the master bathroom. Lots of wasted space. We asked Michael from Higgins Home Construction to close off the hallway where one of the bathroom doors was. This created space to open up the master bath, allowing a larger and upgraded shower to replace the outdated tiny shower. This also allowed us to put in a utility sink in the laundry room. My husband and I are very happy with the work that Higgins Home Construction did for us. Communication with Michael was easy with prompt replies to questions and requests. His team of plumbers, electrician, drywall, painters and others were all excellent. After each day's work, the work areas were left tidy and ready for the next work day. We ended up hiring this company again when because of water leakage from the outside, the carpet in a downstairs bedroom became water logged. During repair, it was discovered that the wall was just wood, no insulation or drywall. This was taken care of, the outdoor water leakage was repaired, and the carpet did not have to be replaced. We will definitely contract with Higgins Home Construction for future home improvement projects.
