They just cancelled the appointment in the old MyChart. When I called to ask what happened, I was told my mother was a "no show" and they would have set her up in the new instance if she had come in. I asked, "How would we have known to show up to an appointment you had cancelled?" The receptionist caught a huge attitude with me. She said, "I don't know what to tell you" and "What do you expect me to do about it?" I said this is literally your job. I told her some compassion and understanding would have gone a long way, and she said "I'm sitting here listening to you aren't I?" She never once asked if my mom required an urgent appointment (she did) and offered me an appointment 6 weeks out. I'm sure she thought she was really clever sticking it to an 82-year-old woman with advanced congestive heart failure. May your mother suffer a similar fate, Natalie. I filed a complaint and someone competent called me back and got my mom in the following Monday. We arrived and the receptionist working was so consumed telling another receptionist about her Jerry-Springer-show-worthy family and relationship drama, she completely forgot we were sitting there.
