FIRST WENT TO ADVANCED--THEN . . . Thank goodness we visited Hamburg Veterinary! Our kitten, Goose, was so sick and his condition ignored by our previous vet. Within minutes at this friendly, clean practice my concerns of polyps blocking normal breathing, which had resulted in chronic infections, bad breath, labored breathing, and throwing up, Goose was diagnosed--and within four days I have a new, heatlthy kitten and a removed polyp the size of a shrimp found and removed by the real, compassionate professionals at this practice. What a waste of time, money distress, and suffering. I was implored to believe polyps could not be located and removed. Not to.mention antibiotic overload for two months! Leave the serious wk to real vets who don't ignore and dismiss the obvious. We love Hamburg Veterinary! Goose is one happy, affectionate cat today. So grateful. My dog had a little growth on his eye lid and they recommended it to be removed. After removing the growth, the doctor left a stich protruding which punctured his eye. After paying $1346 to remove the growth, I had to spend $2190 at an eye specialist to save his eyes. After several attempt trying to resolve the issue, Its my problem deal with it. read more

I followed Dr. Travis Cerf there when he left Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital (as each was equidistant for me); and i would follow him anywhere, he's simply THE best! However, the entire staff, from front desk to technicians etc.have been welcoming, excellent with pet interaction, caring, thorough, and un-rushed. I highly recommend. read more

We had an 11am appointment. Our first visit to this Vet. who came recommended from others at our dog park. We arrived at 10:55 and were told we will be seen in a few minutes. We were the ONLY animal in the waiting room. After waiting 20 minutes I took my impatient pup for a walk. 10 minutes later I entered and approached the reception area. I said that they were obviously behind schedule and that we had other errands.I said that we will call for another appointment. The receptionist barely acknowledged me, how disrespectful. A clean and bright animal hospital where my usually shy and nervous indoor feline was oddly comfortable and relaxed. Even with a dog... two lizards and a bird in the room it was not the zoo one would expect with so many species in such close proximity. Dr. Ramieri has a great kennel side manner.. apparently he is garnering a following in the Herp world as the go-to guy for exotic reptiles. Where was this place when I was raising waxy monkey tree frogs? Today with a common cat the entire staff made me feel like I was bringing in member of my family, not an animal.. The facility recently opened.. it still has that new animal hospital smell.. yet not nearly as expensive as my last vet visit at some dump of an office... open 24hrs too.. A few months ago I took my chihuahua, Charlie to the vet. Charlie has a mass on his leg which he had for years, but is suddenly growing rapidly. The vet said that is was made up of soft tissue, didn't think it was cancerous and could not operate on him because of his age and because of his enlarged heart. He has been getting treated for his enlarged heart for years. Then he looks at Charlie's x-rays and says, "wait a minute, he doesn't have an enlarged heart...hmmmm maybe I got him mixed up with your other chihuahua"!!!! This mass is so large that Charlie can't even walk. It seems like it is doubling in size everyday. So I brought him to a new vet for his opinion. The news was not good. It's a sarcoma and he either has to be euthanized or his leg has to be amputated. He looked at Charlie's previous records and x-rays and he told me he never had an enlarged heart because they just don't just get better. I want a refund for all the office visits and medications my dog has taken for all these years for a misdiagnoses! NOW I NEED THAT REFUND SO I CAN GET MY DOG'S LEG AMPUTATED! read more

What would you do if you went the ther vet ER because you dog was coughing bad. You leave with a fat bill, from X rays you were NEVER show and NEVER told there was an object in you dogs stomach. The vet discussed a collapsed trachea (which is not the case) and stressed heartworm meds. I went to a local vet a few days later to address the cough. The vet shows me the xray from the ER vet and find out there is a solid object in my dogs belly, that could kill him if it tried to pass. Well, I called the office multiple times and eventually spoke to the office manager who also saw the object. There were multiple calls after that, try to speak to a vet. Finally I got the office manager again and asked for a refund for the xrays, not the visit, blood test, or the meds. Just the xrays the vet DID NOT share with me. She can repay the office for not informing a patient's owner of an obvious issue. She seemed to agree. Told me to call back with my credit card. I did so and she said the main vet/business owner said no. What?? Suddenly, there is an addendum added to the noted that the vet told me about the object!!! Lies!!! LIES!!! Do NOT trust this place!!! I would go anywhere else. Very unprofessional and that is the kind comment I have to share. If I ever need to go to the vet in Sussex County again, I'll go to Newton. Never will I trust this business with my pets. read more

My sister has gone to this vet for years and spent thousands of dollars on her animal's. She has monthly injections for her dog's allergies. She called Monday night for an emergency visit and the receptionist said they were closing shortly and refused to see her dog. This receptionists has no compassion and shouldn't be working in an veterinarians office. read more

DONT bring your dog here!!!!!!!We brought our very healthy beautiful 11 month old poodle to advance vet care to get spayed they did the operation sent her home ,she was very sick brought her back several times that week she wasn't getting better they decided to keep her over night ,they opened her back up the next day and said she had a tear in her intestine ,I wander how that happened they said she must have eaten something sharp ,she didn't eat anything since before the operation ,they messed up and can't even take responsibility for it .she was as alive as a beautiful dog could be when we brought her and they killed her . Although they claim to have 24 hour care there is no vet in house over night. My dog convulsed for a solid hour while the tech on duty attempted to get the vet to come to the hospital. 60 minutes of sheer torture for my dog. I just wanted to end his misery ASAP. I will always carry the image of my dog foaming and shaking as I pleaded for someone to release him. read more

So I have been to this vet now 4 times. 2 times for my cat sally and 2 times for my new puppy Boe. The first 2 times I came it was great. I had my appointment I was seen in a timely manner and the vet and the staff were great. However the last 2 times for my puppy it has been horrible. I have my appointment I am there 5-15 mins early. I then wait 30-45 mins to be seen. This last time was the final straw. We waited 45 mins to be seen. No one even told us there would be a wait. People who came in after us were seen before us. Now this is a puppy and when we saw the vet the first time with the puppy about 2 weeks ago the vet said he wanted to go over some flee and heart worm stuff at the next visit. So today was that visit. After waiting 45 a woman comes and takes Boe back gives him the 2 shots he needs then gives him back to us. We were not even able to see the vet. I was not able to talk to anyone about the flee and heart worm stuff or any other info. No one even asked if I needed to see the vet. I will NOT be back. I understand not a lot of vets are open on Sunday but they should know how to book appointments or at least let people know when they are running behind. No one spoke to us no one said a word when I asked everyone looked dumb founded. read more

Met him at the Sussex county fair grounds for a dog event Since the terrible tragedy of losing Dr Ramieri I'm sad to say this place isn't the same I called Friday am asking about a condition I think my dog may have. I asked if this is something they are familiar with, if not could they refer him to a specialist & also about meds he is taking should he continue with them with my suspicion that he may have this condition Told will leave message for the DR who comes in Saturday no call, I call Sunday, I'm told he's with a client, she will speak with him and get back to me, no call back, I call again this morning, I'm told it now went to another vet, will speak with her, she comes back on the phone says ok I was on vacation not sure what's going on, when he comes in I will talk to him right away about this and get back to you... 12 hours later I still do not have any answers! Very frustrating as a long time dedicated client! Time to find a new vet read more

Advanced Veterinary Care is not as advanced as they make themselves out to be. My cat died a few nights ago because she did not receive prompt care or attention; the doctor was in and out. No one seemed too concerned with my cat's condition at first. The receptionist was not well qualified either to assess the situation and schedule a reasonable time to bring the cat in. Why they did not have another veterinarian available is beyond me. If they had done their job right, my cat would still be here. Either they need to step up their act, or they should just close up shop before more animals suffer at their hands. I do not recommend this place. read more

I had an emergency situation with my pup last night and ran to Newton Animal Hospital which resulted in a three hour wait, an extremely arrogant vet and a hefty bill. Today we went to Advanced and I couldn't be happier!!! Super friendly staff, clean office and my girl didn't need the x-rays Newton was trying to shove down my throat! Thank you Advanced Vet Care!! Very happy new client here and my baby is feeling much better!! read more

I noticed driving by on route 23 that they have a tech let the dogs out on a leash out the back door to poop and pee.There is no fence!!! What if the tech drops the leash and the dog just bolts out of her control? It is right next to State Highway, Route 23! Other vets have secure areas for this with a fence! This place does great business I don't see why they can't spend the money and have a fence. I have been there and otherwise am satisfied with their care. However this situation freaks me out now that I know about it. read more

Had an emergency today. My french bulldog broke out in hives and was having an allergic reaction. The office staff was amazing! Got me in right away and took me to the exam room as soon as I got there. The Dr was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. What a great team!! Thank you so very much. read more

I brought my dying African gray parrot into your clinic desperately seeking help at 8:00 a.m. and was told that a doctor would not be available until 9:00 a.m. and I should go to the Newton Veterinary Hospital. There was no time for a 1/2 hour ride, my parrot died. This was not the first time I have been disappointed with Advanced Veterinary Care. A few months ago, my dog was very ill with a fever, disoriented and weak. I called at 5:00 a.m. and was given an appointment until 9:30 a.m. I was certainly willing to pay extra for on call service. Why is the facility open 24 hours without a vet on call? What exactly does emergency service mean because your clinic certainly didn't help my pets. read more

I really love this animal hospital. As someone who recently moved to the area, I wasn't sure what to expect. I have extensive history at a previous vet about 50 miles away, and didn't know what i was walking into. As someone who fosters numerous dogs, issues can come up, and sometimes I don't have the previous files on a dog- AVC doesn't mind, and they're very helpful. I can usually book an appointment relatively quickly, upon entering staff are very friendly, i'm checked in quickly, and end up in an exam room rather fast. The techs are friendly and talkative. I only have experience with Dr. Molly, and i think she is amazing. She is nonjudgemental (I foster pitbulls), addresses the medical issue quickly, tells you what to expect, and sends you on your way. You can tell she genuinely cares about their/and your well being. I also have to comment on the prices are cheaper than I've paid in the past at other Vet offices. Certainly not complaining here! This is the only place I can get in, have an exam, receive medication and pay less than 100 bucks a visit! As far as the review that mentions payment issues, I do not know of any vet that offers a payment plan. Yes unfortunate, but that's the world we are living in. They need to be paid for their services, and often have lab/pharmacies they need to pay as well... IOU's don't get you very far. So, yes many people can't get help but this is not only ADVANCEDs policy. Please also keep in mind that they see EMERGENCY visits as well as routine, so there may be a time when you are a little late to get into the room, because there was an emergency. Try not to get your panties in a bunch, because in the event YOU have the emergency, you'll be thankful they are seeing you. Very friendly staff, very knowledgable doctors. Just started coming to this fantastic place for my Beagle Clyde . We have brought our cat Sammy in a few times . With each fur baby it has been a fantastic experience. This place is reasonably priced , compassionate, caring and respectful. The facility is clean always . Today they microchipped my dog and neutered him . They have given him his vaccinations and all who see Clyde has loved him so much . I am so relieved to have Clyde become a patient here . I know he will always get exceptional care . We went to this vet as we were referred to them by a friend. My cat wasn't feeling well & we saw the vet who ran various tests. It was determined he had diabetes & a UTI. We were given a prescription for insulin & an antibiotic. Afterwards we had some questions and called the vet. Were told he was in seeing patients & they would have him call us. We got no call. We called again the next day & were told the vet had left for the day but he would call us tomorrow. Still no call. We called again & again were told the vet had left for the day. We still haven't received a call from the vet. Horrible customer service. That's 3 messages w/ no return call. We have a cat that is newly diabetic & requires insulin. Call me crazy but we might have a few questions. We finally called & cancelled our next appointment. If this is how they treat patients I dont want to deal with them. We are now taking our cat to a new vet. Extremely disappointed with this place & would not recommend them. read more

Such a great hospital, I was seen with urgency when I brought my pet in. All the staff are very friendly and the Doctors are friendly and informative. Previous reviews talk about money... They offer a couple options to pay for your animal bill... They saw my pet before money was ever mentioned.. They brought by very sick cat back to his normal healthy self, couldnt be happier or more thrilled. The doctor called between and after surgery with updates. Advanced Care is cost concerned and has very compassionate and friendly employees and I imagine give good standard veterinary care, so I give it 2 stars. However Advanced Care grossly undertreated my diabetic home companion cat of 10 years for insulin resistance and he needlessly suffered and died within 9 days after I first took him there. He experienced a fast high ketone spike initially at home and my regular vet said he needed to be hospitalized immediately. I took him to AC and they hospitalized for 2 days. They had ample evidence he was insulin resistant, but since his behavior improved they discharged him right before the weekend still with ketones present and told me to bring him back in a week with no changes in insulin dose. I called the next day to tell the AC vet his ketones were high again and he was declining. He brushed it off with recommendation to syringe feed him. When I brought him back the following week he was too far gone to save. I'm still puzzled at his lack of professional concern while my cat was obviously dying of high ketone poisoning. read more

It was a terrible shock when Dr. Ramieri passed away, because he was both a truly an exceptional person and doctor, but I have discovered that all the other veterinarians in the practice are also very knowledgeable,dedicated and caring. Dr.Travis Cerf is now treating my cat and I am extremely impressed with his expertise. He correctly diagnoses the problem and starts the appropriate treatment and my cat was so much better by the night we came home! I especially liked the fact that he spends quite a bit of time explaining everything. In addition, the fees are very reasonable compared to other vets. My pets are very precious to me and would highly recommend Advanced Veterinary to anyone seeking excellent quality veterinary care. read more

Went to the vet. Dog had an upset stomach. The lady vet insisted I get my dog a lime disease test not Lyme disease the other two diseases my dog a ready been vaccinated for Lyme disease however she insisted on testing the dog anyway $372 later OK I had a huge fat vet bill and they did nothing for my dog but they recommended fluids for another hundred dollars and still at this point I took my dog and left the facility do not go to this place I had a fat that that that bill before they decided they were going to do anything to my dog 372 and now it's time to give the dog something. I DO JOT THIS VET UNLESS YOU WANT TO PISS TOUR MONEY AWAY!!!!!! Ok MY RATING a - 15..The to top it all off she was tested for pancreatitis to the tune of God only knows what and five minutes later the vet tech comes in and says we're going to treat your dog for pancreatitis does anybody know what's going on over there I don't think so !!!!The 2 male vets are good it the WOMAN vet to STAY AWAY FROM she will sell you the farm and then think about treating the symptoms present. read more

I have used AVC for a few years, Dr Cerf operated on one of my dogs and treated both of them. After he left I used Dr. Weingartner whom I used many years before. I like him, he's honest and helped when we had to put one of my dogs down. However, I called there on 3/26 at 12:04 to bring my 16+yo dog in who woke suffering and needed to be put down. The receptionist told me they were booked. I asked if there was any way we could be squeezed in, she said she would have the dr call me that he was in with a patient. After not hearing from them i called back at 12:25 and was told the same thing and that I may have to find an emergency vet [not the one my dog knew for years]. Here it is, Tuesday at 3pm and I still have not heard back from them. I took my dog to a wonderful vet who cared for her as if he knew her all her life. I am sad to say that, not on the part of the doctor, but the staff, that if I were to get another pet I can't bring them there. read more

Thank God for Advanced Veterinary Care. Recently I had an issue with 1 of my bulldogs Chloe. Dr. Civatte examined her and after doing some research, he explained what was wrong and what medication to give her. I know in my heart of hearts he saved her and I am for-ever grateful. I will never forget his compassion, his careing, his sensitivity, he saw how upset I was and when I left his office, he made me feel at ease. All of the Vets there are equally wonderful! For his staff, they are the best! When I walk in there, I am always greeted with a warm hello and smile! We have been going there for years and the service has always been top notch! Stay away!! I am finally writing a review, after being reminded of the incompetence of this place every time I drive by it. Misdiagnosed both my dog and cat. "Dr" and I use the term loosely, inept at putting down my dog after the meds that were prescribed to him caused internal bleeding. Imagine watching your pet being euthanized, but the idiot doctor wasn't able to complete the task, and needed additional medication that the assistant had to run out of the room to get. It was horrific. I was a mess. Never followed up with me after the fact, no phone call, nothing. Consider yourself warned. Do NOT trust them with your precious pet. Don't bring your pet here for surgery. If you have post operative questions, you don't speak with a vet. A Tech will give you the answer after running back to ask a vet. My cat had a rough recovery from surgery. Not peeing, eating or drinking. She had an adverse reaction to the pain med. Each time I called, I would get a totally different answer from the previous call. The one vet said if she's not in pain, don't give her the pain med. This is one day after surgery, of course she's still in pain. 2 days after surgery they said to keep her there to get her peeing again. $300 later she still was unable to pee. I thought because it was a huge 24/7 facility it would be a good choice. Learned my lesson. The Techs and front desk staff were excellent. read more
