I went to my scheduled appointment, the doctor was running late, and then she asked me to come back for my dilation. I returned the following week. Fast forward to this September, I received a bill in the mail for the additional appointment for my dilation. I paid my copayment back in May at the time of my appointment, but they were trying to charge me again, even though it was the doctor's issue with having me to reschedule my second appointment. I called today, stating I am not happy about this, finally they agreed to drop the additional fee but they asked me not to book further appointments with them. NO PROBLEM, I WAS NOT PLANNING ON IT!! Be careful going there, they are scam artists!

I was consistently forcefully ignored, belittled and patronized about my capability to afford anything outside of what my insurance allowed. And the woman that handled my service or lack thereof refused any feedback on the type of glasses I was looking to purchase, she was outright indignant and belittling but yet when other caucasian patrons walk into your establishment they were greeted warmly and talked to respectfully. to make matters worse, the glasses that I picked out weren't even the ones I received in fact they weren't even in the same class. I expressed my budget and willingness of $575 to spend on glasses and yet they charged my insurance for those glasses and they didn't even have the decency to give me the ones that I picked out to purchase defeating the whole purpose of the $575 out of insurance budget, Hence I was more than fiscally able to purchase a pair of my choosing regardless of what insurance covered . I will never do business with this company again, but maybe that was their whole gold to discourage people with disabilities or under insured individuals from returning?? Well Yelp did not fail me - one of the lovely ladiesn at Heller Eyecare fixed my glasses free of charge and did it quite quickly even though there were indeed broken! Needless to say I will not hesitate to strongly consider them when I am ordering my new glasses. When we went back for a follow up yesterday, the charge was $225 which he was not in with the eye dr for more than 3 minutes. They asked him how he felt while using them and that was it. The follow up wasn't for anything except to try to get us to purchase the contact lenses from them. I was not told beforehand that the follow up was going to be almost 3 times what the initial visit was. We will never be back. If you do decide to go there you better ask the cost beforehand.

One of my favorite perks of this optometrist office is that they have the computerized machine that x-rays your eyes versus getting them dilated. Extra plus for me since I am allergic to preservatives in my eyes but always had to suck it up, prior to finding Dr. Segool. Both receptionists are great! Very helpful! Without asking, one of them looked up my name in random vision plans and discovered I have a very good vision plan that my husband, who carries the insurance, failed to tell me about. Saved us lots of money. I have also purchased glasses elsewhere in the past and took them to Dr. Segool who had the lenses put in for me. My very A-D-D son was taught how to wear contacts here. Based on some of the reviews on here, I was prepared to have a Clockwork Orange experience, but I totally lucked out by picking Dr. Segool. They asked if I needed a appointment for new contacts, and got me in as soon as I could schedule it - no blindness or bleeding eyeballs necessary! They did a full check-up for Rx, peripheral vision, glaucoma/cataracts, including this cool machine that takes a picture of your retina. Dr Segool took the time to explain the various images and patiently answered all of my questions. They have a lot of contact Rxs on-site (I needed to order mine, but they got to my house in under a week) and they told me about a rebate program for $100 off if I ordered a year's worth. They also have a good-looking selection of fashion frames, if you were looking for glasses. Overall, excellent service form the office staff, really professional and friendly service from the doctor and they take VSP. Dr. Segool is my optometrist from now on.
