He set up a trap and within a few hours, there was a fat, male grey squirrel in there. He came back out the following day and blocked off the entry point and took care of the squirrel and trap. Couple of days later and no more attic activity of any sort. He did a wonderful job sealing off the prior entry point to make sure we won't have new guests trying to make a home in the attic. One or more squirrels had eaten a hole through my soffit and gotten into my attic creating all kinds of havoc. So I did some research online, found Advanced Wildlife Removal and gave them a call. Paul came out the next day and gave me a great price for catching (and releasing the squirrels) and also to repair the hole created by the squirrel. He also noticed another section of the soffit butting up against the roof which had a gap (which he called a pocket) where the squirrels were getting into the attic as well. It became apparent that the squirrels were running back and forth on top of the soffit between the entry points releasing insulation along the way. The repairs consisted of constructing metal boxes around the hole and pocket preventing the squirrels from being able to get in again. Recently, I bought a house and inherited some pest issues (of the rodent/squirrel type). Knowing nothing about pest control, I reached out to 3 different companies, and ended up choosing this one. I'm so glad I did because it was the quickest, most cost-effective, and most importantly PERMANENT solution of all of them. Here was my experience with the 3 companies' inspections: Company #1: like 90% of the pest companies out there in terms of strategies. Lots of good reviews on Yelp. Very sales-y. Their pitch is essentially: "You have mice. We'll put poison in and around your house to get rid of them. This poison is slow to build up so it's safe for your pets and child. Oh, and we can also spray for bugs and it's SO SAFE that 10 min after spraying chemicals capable of killing bugs, your pets can go outside and lick the grass, and they'll be fine (obviously scientifically impossible). By the way, you'll need to pay us quarterly for the rest of your life. Money please!" I did some research, and found this article talking about the danger of these rodent poisons to local nature AND pets: https://www.audubon.org/magazine/january-february-2013/poisons-used-kill-rodents-have-safer So, I wanted to find an alternative to using those types of poisons, but apparently most pest control companies use them. Company #2: some poison-free options but still requiring poison to get most of the rodents. Their pitch: "You have mice and flying squirrels. We're going to very thoroughly seal up your house for $5,000 then put poison throughout. Oh, and you'll probably need quarterly service on top of that." So, finally I found this company. They were the only company to charge for their initial inspection, but that's probably because they were the most cost-effective in the long-run, seeing how they completely get rid of pests rather than requiring a quarterly service for the rest of your life. What makes this company different is they are trappers, not poisoners, so they can make sure all the rodents/squirrels/etc are gone before patching up your house. It's not a one-size-fits-all type of solution; they are careful to figure our your specific situation and how to solve it. So, even though there were a lot of challenges due to the way my house is built and some of the evidence inside the house, John did an amazing job tracking down what ended up being gray squirrels in our house and finding their entry points. We started out hearing critters running inside our walls several times a week to nothing. Not one peep. Advanced Wildlife Removal kept us from going BAT crazy! We had a problem with bats and this company is so very professional and they did a great job getting rid of the bats. Paul came and grabbed the live bats (eek!) and took them outside, then to permanently remove them, it's a little more tricky. It seems that they are a protected species, so after sealing up every nook and cranny, they put one way bat escapes on each side of the structure. This way the bats would leave but not be able to come back. After we were convinced they were all gone, they came back and removed the escapes and sealed up where they where. Paul is so knowledgeable about these critters and how they behave (and many other critters as well). Let me first just say, this is an AWESOME company! On time, honest, respectful, reasonable prices, quick, know what they're doing, ect, ect. I could go on and on about how amazing they are. I had called Paul about squirrels in our roof near the gutters possibly nesting and that we had been hearing something for a couple months but thought maybe birds. But with the gnawing and everything and running we could hear I just knew it had to be squirrels. So scheduled an appointment with his company and when him and his work partner came out to check everything out the momma squirrel and her two babies showed their faces....PERFECT TIMING!! Traps were set and not much time after, the momma was caught and the babies followed that evening. Paul closed the hole they were coming through. He said they may have chewed through a new hole. I have a house with wood siding, so woodpeckers are problematic from time to time. We also had a family of birds move into a corner of our attic, through a hole under the roof shingles.
