While Jacob is a nice man, however what he charged and what he did at my home there is a disconnect. Jacob arrived and the first thing he did was to use my bathroom for #2. Then proceeds to take a look for 5 minutes in my finished basement and does nothing in terms of patching or any other solution. Doesn't bother to look again at the exact spot the snake previously was. When asked if there are the possibilities for others was summarily dismissed. He chose not to inspect the upstairs for penetration points or the attic if other snakes would be present. We proceed outside, points out a very obvious hole between the brick and a joint for the deck. Then walks around points out the possibility of entering where wires from the AC unit run, but does nothing to address. Walks around and gets "distracted" by fruit trees 50 ft away from the house and says "yeah i get distracted easy" Then proceeds to tell me to patch the hole and to call him back if anything enters. All of this in under 20 min. Went with him based on yelp reviews but did not get anywhere near value for a inspection/setup fee. read more

I have had squirrels in my attic for over a year and tried different ways to get rid of them--high frequency sounds, peppermint scents, strobe lights, traps. None of these methods worked. I did trap a couple of squirrels but they would always come back. Jacob and his assistant came along and in a couple of weeks trapped all the squirrels and sealed a hole near the roof with pest block and sheet metal. Jacob also installed ridge guards on the ridge vents on the roof and put a cover on the dryer vent. Jacob is a nice guy, single-owner business and a subject matter expert. Before hiring Jacob I worked with 2 other companies and both of them never went up on the roof and after hiring one of them they really did not get rid of the squirrels because of not properly identifying the entry hole. We had a bat in the basement and paid $350 for him to come out and "look around" briefly. He didn't find anything, put a small sticky board high up on one shelf, which did nothing. We asked about a net, so he brought one, which also resulted in nothing, so he picked it up. The bat is likely now dead somewhere in the basement and we can't find it. Very much a waste of money. I originally went with this company bc of the positive yelp rating but the experience turned out to be horrible! They use fraudulent advertising to scam you out of your money by prolonging the process then charging you additional per squirrel caught and subsequent damage repair. After ONE MONTH I still had a hole in my roof, which I later learned should only take 2-3 days. They tell you they will check the trap every day but after I paid them, I literally had to hound the guy to get him to come back. He never tells me if or when he's coming. All calls went to voicemail and would be returned with a terse text message many hours later about waiting an indeterminate number of days. He only used an external trap instead of a one way door which I later learned is the industry standard. After one month it was still questionable whether all the squirrels were removed so I had to hire another company to redo the job. He also refused to refund my money. Save your money and go with a bigger company that guarantees to get it done in 48 hours. It seems they are counting on customers not having much experience in this field and ripping them off. read more

We originally contacted Jacob about 2 days after we discovered that we had an animal in our chimney. This was over a weekend, so he scheduled time to come out on Tuesday. By the time Tuesday came around, we were driven completely insane by the animal in the chimney making noises all day and night. After much back and forth, he cut a hole in the back of our house (where the chimney is), said he could not determine what animal was in there, and left, saying he would come back in two days. But not before cracking the siding that he had removed. He did not leave any traps, so while he did provide a way for the animal to get out, it was also offering a way for any other animal to get in. The animal was not out of our chimney, and now our house had a hole in it. We called him later that evening (and had some more back-and-forth conversations and questions) to ask what his plan was to get the animal out, and where he thought the animal was, and his answer was "I have no idea" to both questions. At this point, it had been 6 days and we were at the end of our rope with the animal in the chimney, and could not wait another 2 days to get it out. The animal was starting to emit an odor in our house. We called another service on Wednesday morning, and within hours, a squirrel had been removed, the hole in our house patched, and the chimney reinforced so that no other animals could get in. On Thursday, Jacob returned with the siding that he broke and replaced it with a new piece. He changed it out with a piece that couldn't be seen from the ground so that it matched, and we appreciated that consideration. However, he put the easily-seen siding back with visible screws (rather than glue or something that could not be seen), so our house still does not look the same. The pros - Jacob was always friendly and responded to questions promptly. He sought out advice when he didn't know an answer. However, we paid hundreds of dollars for him to remove an animal from our chimney, and not only did he not do that, but he left our house in worse condition than it was beforehand, and didn't even offer us a partial refund on what we had already paid. I had birds nesting in my stove exhaust vent and had it removed by our builder. I called Jacob and he recommended to quickly putting screens over our vent in order to prevent birds from coming back into the exhaust vent. When he came to our house, he added a screen to the vent and asked if he wanted us to add screens to any other vents if they did not already have screens. His prices seemed reasonable and I wanted to make sure He also recommended replacing our existing dryer vent with one that would prevent birds from opening it up and nesting there. While he removed the screens, he noticed the builder had the dryer vent partially obstructed by foam, not good. He took it upon himself to remove the debris, good guy. We live in a 3 story townhouse. Just before Thanksgiving we starting hearing rustling/running noises in the top floor ceiling. I went up into the attic but couldn't see or smell any evidence, and while up there I couldn't hear anything either. But since I was hearing sounds mostly during the day, Jacob determined that I have squirrels. I began to worry that there'd be a litter, which would be extremely difficult to properly and humanely remove, since they would be in a spot that's inaccessible from inside the attic. And I had no desire to get on a 3 story ladder. Jacob however was was fully prepared to tackle the problem despite the height, setting up "the Beast" as he affectionately refers to his 40 ft ladder. He found a hole under the shingles where they were getting in, and he made a short video and shared it with me. He set up a trap on the first day and caught one the next day. He caught at least one more squirrel before he determined that he'd gotten them all, then he sealed up the hole. Overall he made 4 or 5 visits in 9 days. Just as he was getting ready to leave at the end of the first visit, I wondered out loud if he would have found anything in the attic that my eyes had missed. He was fully on board with going up there and spent more time looking around and answering more questions. When I asked if there was any chance of a litter, he said that Spring was the mating/birthing season and the earliest litter he'd ever heard of was Jan 30 - and that was from the rehabilitators. It seems that Jacob brings injured animals to rehabilitators that nurse them back to health before returning them to the wild. The rest get dropped off in forest areas far enough away that they can't find their way back to the house. All around, I had a great experience working with Jacob and I highly recommend his service to anyone and everyone. read more

I noticed that some of my teak chairs were knocked over outside, which I thought was the result a storm. When I went to straighten them up I noticed the leg had been chewed off. In a panic (thinking termites) I went to move the other chair and two squirrels popped out! I was terrified! I immediately called Destination Wildlife. Jacob and his partner were awesome to work with! We had a raccoon in the attic and called Jacob after reading the great reviews and having a negative experience with someone whose office is in the Reston, VA area. Thank goodness the other guy was shady or else we would have never had the opportunity to work with a professional like Jacob. As a team of 2, he wasn't able to get to my home as quickly as I would have liked (several days later), but it's not like the raccoon was going to get into my house. When he did arrive, he checked the attic, exterior of the house and roof and immediately found the hole the animal created to get inside. He recommended fixes to prevent it from happening there again and other potential areas an animal could get through. He set up the traps and explained his process. Thankfully, I can't comment on how well his traps work or how he removes them because the raccoon left before Jacob ever got to my house for the initial consult and did not return. Jacob repaired the holes and added some sort of screen to attic fans to prevent future unwanted house guests. I trusted him from the initial consult and appreciated the before and after pictures. Without them, I would have not been able to verify work was done or required. The only challenge working with Jacob is that you don't know what time he will come to your house until the evening before. Might be a challenge if you have little flexibility and need more notice. His initial assessment that our problem was mice in our attic proved to be correct once he mounted his camera and did an overnight observation. Every few nights, we would hear scratching in our fireplace. We were pretty sure it was either a squirrel or a raccoon. However, the raccoon was not there that day so that little critter was out and about. He capped the chimney top and pointed to us that the raccoon did some damage to some of shingles on our roof. I went further and asked for his service to put a netting up so birds could not enter the house through some ventilation on the side of the house. So far, no scratching in our fireplace.
