DO NOT GET AN INSTRUMENT REPAIRED HERE. They will keep your instrument for over 10 weeks without solving the problem. They will lead you on as to believe that they will repair the problems, but they WILL NOT and they will still charge you at the end of the ten weeks saying, "we have no idea what's wrong, money please." These guys are the best!! I bought a set of headphones and they didn't work properly. Went back with the headphones and the receipt and these guys went out of their way to accommodate me! Im also hoping to get my first job here, But my point is these people are so lovely for the few amount of them there are. They're alw very attentive and patient. and I mean ALL of the employees and even manager. I've been using this business since I started playing instruments when I was eight. Their repair services are great and they have done an amazing job fixing my instruments in the past. If you're a brass player I would recommend their brand of valve/slide oil because it works very well. read more

First time here since it was close to home, instead of driving all the way to Commack. As soon as I stepped in with both my kids and said hi, the older guy at the counter just stood there staring at us without saying hello, welcome...nothing! I said Hi again and he said "can I help you", I told him what we needed and he just looked annoyed and like he didn't want to help us. My daughter was so excited to go in there and get her stuff for her first instrument and she even walked out saying how "mean he was". Never going here again. read more

I came to rent an instrument for my son for school and when I walked in no one was at the front desk. So I walked around and found a worker who was a tall older man with long hair and I said "Hi do you work here"? He looked at me and shrugged his shoulders and opened his eyes wide as to say "yes I do" but he did it solely with his gestures. He never actually said the words. Then I said can you help me? I need to rent an instrument for my son for school and again his face literally said "Ok and????" You would think I had 3 heads on my shoulder the way he was looking at me. Now I do not know if this had to do with my skin color or just maybe the guy is a natural grump and not good with customer service. I was so close to walking out the door but I just stayed because I wanted to get this out of the way as I have a million things other to do as a mom of 2. I think they need to train all reps to greet each customer as they walk in. Instead of me asking if you can help me try saying "welcome, how can I assist you today". I never really leave many reviews unless something really is good or really bothers me. And this experience really bothered me a lot. read more

I just went to Advantage Music for the 1st time. My son's Saxophone broke 2 days before Nyssma. I was freaking out and I called and they said to come down and drop it off. I dropped it off at 7:30 pm .. the next morning at 10:30 am Mitch leaves a Voicemail " The Saxophone is fixed and ready for pick up." 5 repairs only $30! Amazing Customer Service! This place is awesome!! I had 3 guitar to set up; a Fender stratocaster, a Ibanez avn5, and also a Epiphone p93. I took it to guitar center at first and 2 weeks past and they still haven't started working on mine. So I was annoyed and picked it up after waiting patiently for 2 weeks and drove 5 extra miles to Advantage Music Store. Within the next day the guitars were really for pick up. I was impressed! The job was done and I'm truly satisfied with their service. To make things even better for myself, at GC they were charging $50 for the set up on each guitar plus the cost of the strings ($5-$12) & I wanted to add the strap lock on my P93 ($20) so in total I was going to pay almost $200 but at this place they only charged me for whatever job they'd done on my guitar. I wasted about $100 for all of that! Not only was the job done, I also saved $90 here. I recommend anyone who is looking to get a set up or get their guitar fix to go here. It's worth the extra mile! read more
