I was able to be seen within 5 minutes of checking in. Both nurses, Maria & Ariel were great. Ariel was so kind, patient and can tell she actually cared and wanted to understand what was going on with me. Dr. Fouts also took the time to explain my results, next steps and sympathized with my current issues. I did not feel forgotten, did not feel rushed and overall it was a great experience. Also, Nurse Maria ended up helping me by giving me extra advice to get in to see an ent when she didn't have to. I am appreciative of that. To top it off, I just received a follow up call from Nurse Ariel (I've never received a follow up call by an RN) so it was nice to hear her wanting to check on me. I'm a retired military veteran. I came to this facility late yesterday night because I had ankle surgery for the eight time 12 days ago and because I have a history of blood clots and my calf and knee were hurting a lot and I decided to ensure it was not life threatening. The night personnel that included the Dr., the nurse, and the front attendant were just absolutely amazing. They conducted all the test necessary to verify my situation. They couldn't do the ultrasound sound because the personnel left at 7pm. I left the facility around 1:20am. They told me to come at 7am to get the ultra sound done and that I will not be charge again. They even put the comments in the computer and provided me with a copy. That my visit will be a continuation. When I showed up for my appt the front counter & the manager said that they can see me again but I will be charged again. After a back and forth disagreement my wife and I left the facility. If you have an emergency please go to a different ER to avoid what just happened to me. They only care about money....Even though tue night staff members tried to do the right thing. read more

Great experience!!! I have been a paramedic for 23 years and they provided the care I would not only do for others, but I would let them take care of my family which is the highest level of trust in the medical field (I never say this). Everyone who does not work in the medical field this is the highest compliment. We are super picky, and we know bad care vs. good care. I have been on both sides as a family member and a provider so when I see great care, I know it! It kills me I cannot remember my RN's name because she was spectacular, and she deserves a huge amount of credit. My apologies to you because you were above great! Thanks, you again for being awesome and I hope the company looks you up to give you that credit. I work with RN's everyday, so she knows her stuff and has great bedside manner. If you do not have health insurance, stay far away from Centura Southlands ER! My husband was seen there in November for food poisoning. The moment he stepped through the door he told them he wanted fluids and made them aware that we are self-pay and to please keep the costs down as much as possible. He repeated this to several doctors and nurses that he saw throughout his short stay. He was presented with an estimate that he had to sign that was just under $1700. Expensive, but reasonable compared to how sick he had been for about 24 hours. The care was fine, we do not have any complaints about how he was treated. Fast forward several weeks and we received a bill in the mail for almost $19k! It was reduced to approximately $7500 with the "self-pay discount" but still 4.5 times more than the estimate. Originally we thought there was for sure a mistake, but over the next several months of back and forth with Centura billing, they made it clear that from their standpoint there was no mistake. Their stock response was that it was an estimate and subject to change. Well, of course! We didn't expect it to be the exact amount he agreed to, but in the ballpark would have been nice and we would have paid it and moved on. As we disputed the bill, we discovered that they had classified his visit as "critical care" which added an additional $13k on the total. They also told us in a letter that there was "an unexpected event" that happened but they had no additional information about what it was. Are you kidding me?? We were forced to drive to Parker Adventist Hospital to get the medical records for this visit. We went through every single line, Googling every medical term we didn't know. They were charging for things like monitoring his breathing and mental status which had absolutely nothing to do with the reason he was there. There was also not "an unexpected event" noted in the file. We emailed a 2nd dispute detailing exactly what was in the medical record and asking to actually speak with a human, as they had just been hiding behind letters and the customer service reps at their call center. Of course, we never got a call. Eventually they deducted about $3k from the bill which still left it at 3 times more than the estimate, but they had worn us down to the point we paid it to be done with it. I'm sure that was their goal. Please, please, please just be aware of their shady billing practices if you have an emergency and decide to go there. I would highly recommend going somewhere else if that's an option. UPDATE: I called the number in the response below and got the same person that we have previously talked to about this situation. We have called and emailed over the last 6 months, and if they wanted to work with us they had an ample amount of opportunity to do so. I stand by my original review and urge you to reconsider going here if you are self-pay. read more

Do not go here!!! I had cut my arm and went here cause all the urgent cares were closed. I just got my bill and it was over $10,000 for 1 hour and 3 stitches. I have insurance which covered 3/4 of it. But I still have to pay $2700. The nurses and doctors didn't even clean my wound. I had to clean it myself in the sink before she stitched it. I am usually pretty pleased with Southlands ER. Went to the ER in March for diverticulitis pain. They started IV, labs which is fine. This was a recurrent problem. Had just finished a course of antibiotics the month prior and had increasing pain. The doctor felt it was a good time to switch to a different antibiotic. She ran an IV of Cipro. She told me that can cause achilles tendonitis/rupture in young runners. I am 65 and not a runner. Little did I know you should not give that to anyone over 65. Isn't that something the doctor should be aware of? Well now it is too late. I have bilateral achilles tendonitis and a numb left foot, unexplained weight loss, tachycardia. The symptoms can last for years is what I now know. I was scheduled for surgery in May and who knows if that will happen. read more

I would genuinely never come back to this hospital. If i could give this office a 0 rating I would. I came here 08/11/2024 and my doctor was amazing; however, I had to literally ask the nurse to wear gloves while putting in my IV and administering IV medication!!! Not only that, but during shift change I got a new nurse and he was getting ready to discharge me and taking out my IV. He proceeded to take out my IV (with gloves thank goodness) and put my bloody IV catheter on a tray and couldn't get the whole roll of banged to unravel. So, he went to the STERILE med cart to get new bandages and put the one that was on the bloody tray back WITH HIS BLOODY GLOVES. Proceeded to pick up another roll and couldn't get that one to unravel either and PUT IT BACK. Thus, contaminating the whole med supply cart. I am not one to write reviews EVER, but I work in the medical field and none of my visit was hygienic or within sanitary practice. I truly would advise this ED to properly re-educate their nurses on hygencic practices. read more

One of the best ER experiences I had in Colorado! I was here mid Tuesday morning. I was able to get checked in right away. The receptionist and the nurses were very friendly and pleasant. My ER Dr, Dr. Klingenbejerg, was very caring and attentive to the issue. She took her time to listen and order all necessary exam/labs, and provided follow up instructions to make sure I'll be okay for discharge. My room was clean and quiet. I felt that I was in very good care here, and they definitely deserve a five stars in my book. read more

I am Asian. My companion is Caucasian. I was alone in the room, my companion in the waiting room. The Dr walks in and treats me like I'm a chore and doesn't even look at me. I then ask for my companion to be in the room and she shames and guilts me for wanting him in the room with me. When she comes back with him there, her tone changes. All of a sudden she's nice. When the nurse is discussing what I do for my condition, I told her I started taking over the counter medication for it. She yelled at me for taking over the counter medication without a doctors recommendation. She didn't ask me why I took it or if it was recommended by a doc (it was). Even if it wasn't, I was taking it for the intended purpose, not taking other meds and she shouldn't have scolded me for doing the right thing for my body. The Dr then does a rectal exam on me--I've had many done because of my condition--and it felt like she raped me. I felt so violated. Every time this was done on me, there was another doctor in the room to ensure no foul play. This time, there was no other doctor. She rams her finger up there, rapidly twists as I flinch hard. I just felt like I was in an alternate, evil, heinous universe. I can't believed my doctor raped me and my nurse scolded me for properly taking care of my body. I just can't believe it. These people are licensed health professionals. I can't believe it. God knows, the first chance I get to get out of CO, I will. All these insane ER doctors visits is gonna eventually kill me if I stay. read more

I went here once and will never go back. The first nurse who saw me attempted to give me an IV in a spot on my arm where no one had ever tried. I thought it was strange, but figured she knew what she was doing. I was wrong! She missed the vein & then wiggled the IV to try to get it in the right spot, which I have since read is NOT what they're supposed to do. She blew that vein & 4 months later, I STILL have a dark spot on my arm. My PCP said that will never go away. After blowing that vein, she proceeded to blow two more. She then had a supervising nurse come in & give me my IV. I've never had problems getting IVs before. Inserting an IV should be something an ER nurse is skilled at; not something he/she needs to practice on patients. That whole experience made me not trust this place. If I have to pay more, I'll go to the ER by King Soopers or 7-11. read more

BE AWARE OF A RIP OFF!!! If I can give a rating of (-1), I would. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION or you will regret the experience, instead try going to a reputable ER like the UCH on Colfax where you will be examined professionally by experts and diagnosed with the causes of your pain. I took my husband to the Centura Health on Southlands because he had a very high blood pressure and he was experiencing awful and unbearable headaches. We thought he might be having a heart attack. When we got there what did the doctor do - took my husband's blood pressure, saw the extreme numbers, told him he is not having a heart attack, visited for 10 minutes, and off he went left the room. What did we get a laughable $3,700 bill. When we tried to dispute the charges and asked for a revision of their billing code suitable for a blood pressure measurement visit, who was their audit/review company - their own billing company (how convenient). Of course we did not get the billing code adjusted. How unethical, unprofessional, rude, unexperienced doctors, etc. etc. read more

I must say this is the best experience I had with any Medical/hospital facility. Although other facilities are good, this truly is the best. All the staff was friendly, very knowledgeable and professional. I had to go to this location twice in 3 days due to a severe jabbing electric shock pain in my head and both Doctors were very knowledgeable and truly helped relieve that pain until I can see a neurologist. This was my best ER visit ever. From the moment I walked in the intake receptionist, Mary, was so incredibly sweet and helpful. The wait was extremely short. The nurse and doc came in quickly to start and I couldn't be happier. Janay, my nurse, was PHENOMENAL! She sat there and gave me all the information I needed. I took my daughter in for a minor orthopedic emergency. The entire experience was excellent. We were immediately seen and evaluated by the RN and physician. Pain control and imaging immediately followed. The visit was quick and efficient. Full disclosure, I am an employee at this ER, however, the care we experienced is the same as it would have been for any patient. This is the most wonderful ER I have personally ever been to. My son jumping on his bed while singing 5 monkeys jumping on the bed and entered up spraining a pinky. You would think that the song would give him a clue as to what could happen- but no. The EMT, front desk, doctor, radiologic technologist, and nurses were so kind to him. He wants to go visit. I took my son here at 4:30pm for an ultrasound and labs, and didn't get out of the building until 12am, and that was after signing a release form refusing further treatment to leave early. The doctors had no clue how to care for an infant, and their promise for "rapid treatment " is extremely misleading. After being here for 11 hours, and my son upset from being poked and prodded, ALL that I went home with was extremely inaccurate lab results (that were ran twice. ) and an exhausted child. If you're planning on bringing a child here, you're better going to children's hospital. I felt like my son was being practiced on, and the staff didn't once offer us a bottle of water or even apologize for their inconvenience in the whole time we were there. I'm extremely disappointed in the service I received, and the time I was here for simple tests. The one person i found helpful and gentle with my son was Nick, a paramedic there. read more

We were taken to the back immediately while the ED team worked simultaneously to triage, diagnosis and treat him. In and out with xrays completed and the tools he needed to be able to walk. Southlands ER. I should have written this a long time ago but I am happy I waited. I have been seen in your facility over the years for a multitude of health issues. As soon as Southlands ER opened I was so happy we would not have to go far for emergency medical care. over the past year I sadly have been in the facility way to often for way too many different reasons. However, I have to say WOW on the physicians at this facility, AMAZING nursing care. The nurse I normally get is the retired paramedic Brian who is just outstanding. Amazing bed side manner & care for a man who has seen and heard it all he is just amazingly attentive and makes you feel good in a bad situation. The doctors there are such a wealth of knowledge they dont rush you out and just see you and make the nurses do the work. They take the time to spend with you and talk about your condition and whats going on with your body. I have never left not knowing what to do. THANK YOU! read more

Great option close to home. I knew I didn't need an ER at the hospital and the urgent care was already closed, so decided to come to this free standing ER. From the front desk to the MA to the nurse to the physician, everyone was wonderful. The facility is up to date and comfortable. Private ER rooms with a door and a TV. I took my husband there 3/10/19. We were concerned that his stomach pain was going to give us a very serious diagnosis . From the minute we entered the ER everyone we came in contact with put us at ease in explaining they were there to help find answers . Dr. Derrick Morford was wonderful, he explained the tests results and asked if we had any questions, he consulted with another physician about a test and provided that doctors' name for us to follow up with. Kim from imaging was great, she treated us with concern and was nice to talk with. Laura was there the entire time we were there which was quite a long time with the tests and all. She could not have been any nicer or more professional. Caring for my husband and asking me if there was anything I needed. This emergency room is fantastic. I had been sent home from work a few days ago on August 14th due to some awful pain I was having in my lower left side of my back. My first thought was "oh no I have a kidney infection" the staff had told me my test results came back negative for a kidney infection. I was so relieved but now also concerned to "well, what is wrong with me" the doctor had explained I had a bad muscle strain. The nurse I had on 8/14/16, was a male nurse, I WISH I could remember his name. He was FANTASTIC. We talked about our love for animals, his wife and a car accident she was in, as I was in a terrible car accident a few years prior. He made me feel EXTREMELY comfortable and like I was an actual person and not just another "case of the day" he was great. I don't really care to be in the hospital as it is never a fun time for anyone, but this nurse was absolutely wonderful. I so wish I remembered his name. I do know he was a firefighter with South Metro for some time! Back in April 2015 I had been treated here for an actual kidney infection. It was awful, but my experience here was fantastic. God forbid I have to go back to an emergency room, this will be my first choice! If the Southlands ER staff reads these, please know you have a wonderful nurse! I'm sure they're all wonderful but this nurse was exceptional!!! read more
