Flight was amazing while it last. I paid for an private charter for just my girlfriend and I. So we get on the balloon and we wait for 10 to 15 minutes for them to change the fuel tanks then we finally take off at 8:20am we was told to arrive at 7am which we arrived at 6:50am. As we are getting ready to leave the ground our pilot then tells his coworkers we have room on the balloon so some of you are welcome to join the flight. So an additional lady then gets on our flight her name is Janet she is the balloon ride company manager. So our flight is now not private anymore. Myself, girlfriend, pilot and now Janet is on our flight. We left the ground at 8:20am we landed at 8:45am our flight was supposed to be an hour an hour comes with the private charter. Once we land we have to wait an additional 30 minutes to get our certificates due to them locking up our certificates and leaving. So the pilot comes with the key to unlock the shed with our certificates but when he arrives the employee that said the door was locked the door was actually opened so we could've got our certificates as soon as we got back. The pilot had the key but turns out it was already unlocked so we waited 30 minutes for nothing. Also the guy says you don't need any champagne at the end of flight because we had brought our own bottle for the ride. If the service comes with champagne at the end, I'm expected to get what I paid for. We did get our drinks because I had to go up to him and ask for it. Not a professional business. Overall the pilot was very knowledgeable very friendly. But the way the service is handled is a big no for me read more

Incredibly heartbroken over my experience with this company. My fiance proposed to me on one of their balloon rides, and a video was taken by our pilot as part of the package that we paid for. We were told that the video would be emailed to us, and when a week or two passed and we hadn't yet received it, we started to reach out to the company and pilot. First we were told that the file was too big. We reached out several more times via phone and e-mail to offer different ways to receive the video: offering to drive all the way out and upload it to a harddrive, mailing a thumb drive to them with additional postage to send it back, or suggesting they set up a simple dropbox account to be able to send a larger file. At this point they stopped responding and getting back to us all together. I understand that life happens and in this digital age things get easily deleted or they malfunction, and maybe it never even got recorded in the first place? What upsets me the most, however, is the lack of follow through, communication, and honesty. My fiance trusted this company with one of the most important days of our lives, and, 6 months later, we are still heartbroken over the lack of closure with the whole situation. They seem completely careless, heartless, and unapologetic about something that is of utmost significance to us and our "story". Beware that even if you have a reservation for hot air ballooning that does not guarantee you will fly that day. My boyfriend and I had received a text from the company at 6pm the night before saying that weather conditions were looking good. So the next morning we arrived early to the sight & waited for someone to show up. When no one showed up we called the office which said that flights were still on for today, proceeded to wait longer and finally called the emergency only phone. The man that answered said that the flights were canceled and that they had sent a text and called the night before, we never received either. This was a girlfriend's weekend trip adventure for my 40th Bday & it was freaking amazing!! From the staff in office Janet, to the staff at check in, balloon operator Derek & guys helping with balancing basket we felt loved/cared for like family & apart of something special. Derek has been ballooning since he was 2 with his Dad who also operates Balloons, so I didn't doubt or fear for my safety. Just relaxed & had fun knowing we had an amazing team behind our ballooning adventure. IT WAS JUST TOO COOL & BEAUTIFUL!! I'm not one to leave reviews for services however, in this case, I feel inclined to share my experience. I felt the experience was very "bait and switch" and underwhelming. For the price paid for this experience I was very upset with all of the very obvious cost cutting. I don't want to write too much so I'll do my best to be brief. Coffee = instant coffee and hot water Champagne Toast = Andre ($5) Breakfast = Coupon for $7.50 credit at the local fly zone cafe (which is also largely underwhelming) Certificate = pixelated and unclear (as if it had been photocopied tens of times) Want to see sunrise? 50/50 shot (maybe better) Myself, my girlfriend and 15 other people sat at picnic tables with instant coffee and some donuts for almost an hour until we were picked up. Then it took another 45 minutes to track down the balloon and trade spots with the people on the "1st hop". Why do we all pay the same amount but yet some customers are chosen to go up in the balloon for sunrise (or MUCH closer to sunrise)?? We did not go up in the balloon until 7:30AM (6:00AM sunrise). Which is even more unfortunate for people like myself who strapped multiple DSLR cameras across myself for sunrise photos. Customers paying the same amount should have access to hot air balloons at the same time. I would assume this to be obvious but being up in the balloon for sunrise is a very valuable experience for customer. Missing this (and watching it from ground level, sipping instant coffee while others sit back) is highly degrading. The experience should NOT feel like a lottery for who is "chosen". Solution? Have enough staffing, pilots and balloons to take all customers up for sunrise. Or at the same time. Do not over-book at the cost of your customers. That is irresponsible and kills the experience; creating grades of customers by lottery/decision. Which, leaves reviews like this on yelp. Tell me the price needs to be higher? Fine, but I have a difficult time understanding this with instant coffee bags, the cheapest purchasable champagne, and a coupon for a vegetarian burrito. Or if you keep the prices the same: be transparent about the experience. One more thing that I will add: I would suggest putting your tour guides "experience fosterers" through some sort of tour guiding training. The staff member was excited about air ballooning which was great! However, they also shared their stresses about the logistics with us (customers). Anything that went wrong was followed by a grown or frustrated expression. This isn't good practice. It portrays the stresses straight to the customers. Our experience replicates the tour guides. We don't need to be stressed about landing issues or parking breaks not working. This was really fun. This was a Mother's Day present for my mom. She really enjoyed the surprise. I was impressed with the staff. They really try to make it a memorable experience and they are kind of quirky and funny. They start off with coffee and donuts while you wait for them to set up. Keep in mind this starts really early in the morning for the sunrise ride so bring a jacket. We unfortunately didn't catch the sunrise because it was kind of overcast but it was still very enjoyable. I was afraid my mom was going to freak out and maybe my nervousness stemmed more from that. The pilot is super friendly and takes the edge off with his light-hearted story telling. He tells you about the balloons and the area. When it was over, we got our champagne toast/mimosa and a cool little certificate. I was snapping pictures the whole time so keep in mind that you can have your camera to capture the experience if you want. Then, to wrap it all up, we got the package with the breakfast. This is where it went wrong - We were never told we would be sharing a balloon (with 8 other people besides the two in my party) We were incredibly cramped and with a stranger pressed against us. -even though they told us to meet at 530, only about 10 people could go at a time so some people had to wait until 7/720ish when a balloon was available (each flight was about 30 minutes) -at the champagne toast the worker was drinking champagne that was meant for the passengers -the "free breakfast" was actually a $7.50 gift certificate to a shitty cafe and that $7.50 didn't cover much ( the bomb shelter restaurant and bar) -I was harassed about my ID that was necessary for the champagne toast (checking if I was 21) but I didn't want champagne anyway and she still insisted I show her -they provided a pilot number in case we got lost and when we tried to contact them they didn't answer read more

Would have loved it to have been longer, But that being said everything else was great! The staff is nice and friendly even at 6am, they were great with explaining things to everyone and even let guests help with some things. This was an incredible experience. The staff is extremely friendly. The person on the phone booking reservations was a sweetheart. David at the pickup location was super cool and funny. He was also the person that gave us certificates at the end. Pilot Ryan was really friendly. They all work so hard. It honestly requires a lot of work and team effort to make this work. I respect this even more now. I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend this! I bought this as a gift for my husband for our first year anniversary. We both enjoyed it ! Loved it! Great crew, knowledgeable, and incredibly fun. Don't go expecting a solo romantic experience with the person you go with. I didn't realize how many people had to share the balloon basket but it was a great experience regardless. 20 people met at 5:30am amd we had 2 groups of 10 people. When our flight was over the 'hop' was pretty fun, jumping out of the basket with the next group ready to jump in holding sides of the basket down. The crew provided donuts, coffee and hot chocolate in the early morning meet up, provided champagne toast after returning to the meet up sight, then breakfast vouchers for Bomb Shelter Cafe which was cool because we were able to watch lots of skydivers in the air and landing. Due to the conservative weather limitations, this is our 3rd scheduled flight. Regardless of the inconvenience, they prioritize safety. Once my boyfriend and I got there the "weigh in" people seem to complain about wasn't all that bad the number wasn't called out and they even sent my boyfriend away which was funny because they did this with everyone. They cancel 5 times since this year February. I know due to weather conditions however only who purchased this service will lose. Because they won't refund to us. And They keep the money if customer didn't show up. I don't want to go anymore since we live 1hr 30min way. But if we didn't go, will waste of my money. If you expect to see a sun rise from a hot air balloon, you have a 50/50 chance, the company does not tell you that. If you get there at 530 right before the sunrise, your group might not leave until 720, way after the sunrise, making your EARLY morning showtime pointless. Company promised a special occasion banner for my wife's birthday, (granted it was free of charge) that was supposed to be attached to the basket, but that definitely did not happen. I noticed that there were other special occasions on their rosters but there was nothing done for any of them, so don't count on it. The woman that was put in charge of organizing the groups and answering the questions about the trip seem annoyed and unorganized. But we have felt safe in the hands of the pilot. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Got to take lots of pictures! Worst experience ever! I scheduled a flight Friday night, for the next day (Saturday morning, which was cool!) I couldn't make it because I had to take my grandma to the hospital that same night. I told them that I wanted to reschedule and they told me there would be a fee since I didn't cancel within their policy. BUT HOW COULD I IF I SCHEDULED THE FLIGHT LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE!! To reschedule it's $99 a ticket! I already paid $230, so I have to pay another $200 because I had to take my grandma to the hospital? That's ridiculous. Worse place ever! Had a great time doing the sunrise balloon ride. Renee checked us in and woke us up with her friendly personality and yummy donuts + coffee. We then drove off to the balloon and enjoyed our ride with pilot Ryan before being picked up by Renee and whisked away to a champagne toast where we were able to learn about the history of hot air ballooning. WARNING: I booked ABR for a birthday gift while visiting San Diego and twice the trip was canceled on me. I'm pretty much out of the money and can't get it back. They offered me a change to use it up to a year but since I live in NYC and don't have any plans of going to San Diego this year again its pretty much a lost. And if you're considering purchasing through living social or groupon if they cancel you are sure not to get your money back. It very disappointing . Also they offer weekday and weekend if you chose weekday what they don't let you know that is on certain day they do not operate. If would avoid and dealing with the company. Super awesome and fun experience. Not a huge fan of heights, but once your up in the air you completely forget about it. Girlfriend brought me here for my birthday and couldn't have asked for more. Brandy was the name of our host/instructor and she did an amazing job, so thank you a million Brandy. After our balloon ride they served us mimosas and gave us some certificates. Two $7.50 vouchers were also given to us for a restaurant down the road and I know it might not seem like a lot, but after we ordered our two meals and drinks, we only had to pay about $5 out of our pocket and food was delicious. I did not get the support I needed from either end, Groupon or the merchant, Adventure Flights. I was told on the phone with the merchant to mark the Groupon as redeemed, and only AFTER this was I informed I would have to pay another amount of $120 because of Covid. I was NOT happy about this, but since I already redeemed my Groupon at their instruction, I didn't have much of a choice. After I arrived for our time, the weather was bad and we waited over an hour but could not go up. I was told we could reschedule, but the chances were low because of "June Gloom". I was not aware of this phenomenon as we are from Texas and were heading back the next day after our scheduled ride. Also, they were only doing rides on certain days-so even if we were not leaving the next day, they wouldn't have been able to accommodate us as out of towners anyway. Doesn't this seem like a catch 22? Now I am out well over $300 and nobody seems to care. On top of that, the customer service rep at the balloon company informed me that, if-and only if, the owner approved my refund request, they would only refund me $77 because they can't do anything about the Groupon portion and there is a $25 admin fee for each person out of the $120 Are you kidding me? 50 bucks to refund someone a small portion of what they paid? The person that booked our ride was nice and responsive at first, but of course after they got my credit card info and waiver via email - do you think that they responded when I asked them to the same email about the refund request? Nope-ghosted. I did eventually get a response when I found another email Groupon provided me - to no avail, clearly. Not to mention their weight policy, as others have, is ridiculous. If your collective party weight is under the weight limit there should not be extra charges. Actually, if you didn't know, this parent company owns 8 balloon ride companies (Seems sketchy? Yep.) - and my guess is that it serves the purpose of avoiding bad reviews all under one name. This is a scammy and joke of a company. Their only selling point is that their balloon captain was nice - unfortunately their policies are terrible. As a first time balloon rider (and birthday gift for my husband, so I had to buy another one after being unable to ride), how am I supposed to know that June you generally get screwed every time? There was a couple that was on their SIXTH attempt at a ride! Maybe someone should have warned me about this when I explained to them initially in the first conversation that my chances are low? But no, of course they wanted my money, knowing that there was a low likelihood of us riding when we were in SoCal for only 3 days total, and knowing they would death grip hold onto it. I have been a loyal Groupon customer for nearly a decade now. I do not appreciate either company's handling of my situation and my 300+ dollars. I will certainly question myself before purchasing on Groupon going forward, and would highly suggest forgoing this company and enjoying a balloon ride somewhere else unless you live close by, have time to waste, and money to blow.
