They could start a men's recreational volleyball league. Not to mention the amount of stress that could have been put on the coaches. Getting called at a royals baseball game With there child that was another male on the team. Gardener recreational center needs to seriously. Do something for the male gender that plays volleyball. There are club teams in the recreation league that no one even bats an eye for but when it comes to a 13 year old boy playing volleyball. you have to change the rules twice because "it's not safe." gardener you have issues.

This building is highly trafficked and is always buzzing. In addition to the gym, Holcolm houses several softball diamonds, a skateboard park, sand volleyball and several pavilions for meetings and grilling. Lawrence Parks and Recreation department also hosts classes here on occasion. I always think of this park differently than the other parks in town because of the sports aspect. During the spring and summer months this park is rocking. The softball diamonds are packed with people. Holcolm hosts a number of leagues and it's teaming with people. The facilities at Holcolm are always clean and well maintained. Staff does a great job at keeping this place running smoothly, too. Staff has always been nice and helpful. There are also several large lots so parking is a breeze. There are no metered parking spaces- it's all free. I am sure there is a fee for the softball leagues but there are no fees for the volleyball, basketball or weightlifting. This is quite an enjoyable venue. Lawrence is lucky to have this facility and grounds.

The location is right next to the Missouri River and has a gorgeous view. There is a lovely little porch with chairs and picnic tables. The center provides binoculars and books to help identify local birds. My daughter loves the huge fish tank display of native fish. She also enjoys the tortoises and the snakes in the Snake Room. They are almost always having a scavenger hunt for the kids with prizes. Personally, I enjoy browsing the reading material in the little store and have bought several books. There is a very detailed exhibit on the history of Saint Joseph which is really interesting. It includes details that I have not read about anywhere else. So if you enjoy history, you should definitely pay this place a visit.
