Went on a Sunday evening for dinner and lucked into 1/2 price bottles of wine. Unlike some other…read moreplaces, they will let you choose any bottle of wine for 1/2 price (no exclusions or price limits). I started with the blue crab and sweet corn bisque and it was fantastic! Plenty of crab and a wonderful flavor. Hubby enjoyed some oysters and then on to the main course. I had the fritto misto di mare (minus the horseradish) and although it was quite unique, I will say that it was really good. The seafood was lightly fried and the spinach was flash fried and yet, it was still a surprisingly light tasting dish, which I appreciated. Hubby had the bison ribeye and thought they did a great job preparing that as well. Our server for the evening was Brennen and he did a wonderful job taking care of us. He was able to offer old school, white tablecloth service in a friendly and comfortable manner. The night we were there, customers ranged from young, dressed up couples to families who had been out all day enjoying the town and everyone in between. This place has stood the test of time and is worth a visit!

This time, I got the bison ribeye I meant to get on my last visit. The oysters were a great starter and I enjoyed them very much. We shared the wedge salad and both enjoyed the delicious complimentary sourdough bread. My wife had the 5 oz filet again. She loved it. My ribeye was a little over cooked, but I loved the coffee rub I added. Delish. Pierpont's continues to set the standard for fine dining in KC.

We had crab balls, steak sliders, meatballs, meat/cheese/cracker assortment along with complimentary lemonade. The crab balls was my fave, not fishy but crispy balls of delicious crab meat. The bartender and gist of other servers were professional with great personable service, we carried on great conversation in between rooms and encounters. It made for a fun and enjoyable dining and celebratory experience!

Nestled inside the ultra-luxurious Raphael Hotel, this upscale Restaurant/jazz club had our group feeling like we were heading to a high-society adult prom. The ambiance practically demands a raised eyebrow and a sophisticated toast. Naturally, the libations were flowing. On one end of the table sat a chocolate martini so decadent it looked borderline sinful. On the polar opposite end of the spectrum, I ordered an extra-dirty Chopin martini, complete with blue-cheese-stuffed olives. Look, it didn't reinvent the wheel, but it was executed exactly the way I'd make it at home--assuming I could ever actually find a bottle of Chopin in any of our local liquor establishments. (Seriously, who is hoarding it?) We kicked things off with the gourmet bread basket. Do yourself a favor and cough up the extra $5 for the super soft bread and whipped butter; your tastebuds will thank you for not being cheap. For my starter, I opted for the she-crab soup, which presented itself as a spectacularly rich crab bisque. Word on the street is that she-crab Is vastly superior to he-crab. This is a PG-rated review, so I shall leave the mechanics to your imagination. Then came the piece de résistance: the 12-ounce ribeye, flanked by asparagus spears and Delmonico potatoes. This sucker was thick. When I asked our waitress for a proper steak knife, she politely pointed to my standard-issue butter knife and confidently declared, "That's it!" I thought she was joking. She wasn't. Melt-in-your-mouth is an understatement; this medium-rare masterpiece yielded to a butter knife like it was soft brie. The sides were equally stellar. The Delmonico potatoes were a beautifully elevated, elite version of scalloped potatoes, and the asparagus was snappy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The evening's only tragic misstep was the cheesecake. It, too, was incredibly thick--but in all the wrong ways. While fortunately not overbaked, the texture resembled a very well-flavored, highly gourmet paste. To add insult to injury, the graham cracker crust had completely surrendered its structural integrity, offering none of the classic crunch I crave. Minor dessert tragedy aside, it was a phenomenal evening. The service was impeccable, the vibe was unmatched, and that steak alone warrants a return visit. Next time, I'll just be exploring a different corner of the dessert menu.

We started with the goat cheese fondue appetizer, which was rich, flavorful, and a great way to kick off the meal. I also ordered the Passion Mare cocktail, which was refreshing and paired well with lunch. Service was a little slow when we first arrived, but once things got moving, everything was smooth. The food was good, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the location couldn't have been more convenient since it was just a short walk from our hotel. A solid option if you're staying nearby or looking for a nice lunch spot before an event.

The MAI TAI, ENVY OF ALL & the white SANGRIA were all tasty, but at $18 a piece, they should have been spectacular. Taste/presentation did NOT warrant the price tag. We are always delighted to see a WEDGE SALAD on the menu & it was just what you expect in a wedge, which never disappoints, but croutons were unnecessary. Unusual the house dressing was a peppercorn ranch for an Italian restaurant, which was heavy for the MIXED GREENS salad. The CAESER was a winner for my 16 year old son. My 91 year old mother, enjoy the CHEF SOUP, which was turkey & rice... this is high praise for one who always has soup and typically finds fault. The CHICKEN PICCATA was meh. I know this is a safe dish for people to order, but this version had no zest, choose something else. The CHICKEN CARBONARA was served with the egg yolk in the center so you stir it into the hot pasta to cook it. My son loved this presentation, made it fun and most importantly DELICIOUS. Our BEST dish was the BRAISED BONELESS SHORT RIB! When we return to KCMO, we'll definitely reorder this dish and sample some of the others. For dessert we shared the COCONUT BANANA CRÈME PIE... too bad it had whipped cream and not baked merengue.

The options are endless (seriously, you'd have to stay all day to try everything), but that's the fun of it--trying a little of everything. The mini waffles were the highlight: fresh, soft, and fluffy with a cranberry sauce that was chef's kiss. Plus, the cutest little individual syrups. Crispy bacon, made-to-order eggs, and flavorful breakfast potatoes with peppers were all on point. They also go way beyond breakfast--fried chicken, mac and cheese, fresh fruit, salads, shrimp with cocktail sauce, and tons of desserts. And being inside Union Station makes it even better. It's beautiful, spacious, and open, with high ceilings that make it feel like you're not even in the Midwest. Come hungry--you'll want to try it all.

Union Station is absolutely beautiful and worth stopping in to see if you've never been there! We knew we were going to visit the station and looked up restaurants to see if anything looked good. Harvey's menu caught our eyes, with its southern flare, and luckily didn't require reservations. My grandmother, Aunt, and myself were all seated quickly, and our waitress asked for and brought us our drinks out super fast. The restaurant was a little loud seeing as how it's inside of a train station full of people! With that being said, I've been in louder restaurants and this wasn't that bad. I ordered Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles with a cup of Gumbo, my Aunt ordered the Gourmet Grilled Cheese with Sweet Potato Fries, and my grandma ordered a Prime Rib French dip. We all shared hot pimento cheese dip. First of all that cheese dip was to die for. I've only ever had cold pimento cheese and was not a fan... obviously it's because hot pimento cheese is the way to go!!! My Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles was amazing. I think the waffle batter needed a little salt, but otherwise it was perfect. The gumbo was a little spicy and packed with flavor... just the way I like it!! My grandma's French dip thankfully on soft bread for her to eat, and the meat was sliced thin enough for her to chew. My auntie ordered the gourmet grilled cheese, and that thing was on firrreeee!! Her sweet potato fries came with a side of marshmallow fluff that had cinnamon in it, she was literally scraping the cup of that clean! We noticed they have a breakfast buffet on the weekends and one coming up for Mother's Day, that we might make reservations for!!! The food was fantastic and we seriously can't wait to go back for more.
