There are a few airboat tour companies near New Orleans, but we decided to go with Airboat Adventures due to the price and positive reviews online. I booked the tour online through their website. If you want something more private, go witha smaller airboat, which is a bit more expensive than the large airboat. But because we're chickens, we decided to go with the larger airboat that held more people. The tour offers transportation to their location by bus for an extra fee, but we decided to drive our own car since they provided on-site parking. I do recommend driving your own car, because the drive was absolutely scenic. A lot of green and we got to see all the beautiful houses built on stilts on the way. Not to mention, it's about a 30 min drive from New Orleans. When we arrived, there were plenty of parking. They also had bathrooms inside and on the exterior of their store, which were very clean! Inside the store, you can check out a live albino alligator and take photos while you wait. You can also wait outside on the dock -- plenty of seating and you can grab a drink at the bar. The tour was amazing and so was our tour guide. The weather was nice, we saw a lot of gators sunbathing a bald eagle, and its nest. It was more than what I expected! Everyone in my party had a great time and more memories were made! Side note: Airboats are very loud so make sure you keep the headphones on!

He's spent years in this particular part of the bayou and majority of the alligators that swam up to us today he's been working with for years. (Hence the hand feeding.) He was so informative about the ecosystem and historical aspects of the bayou and where we were. He talked to us about the impact of Hurricane Katrina and informed us about different animals and marine life in the area. This was absolutely amazing and a perfect way to end our trip.

What should have been a fun family experience turned into an extremely uncomfortable and humiliating situation. During our tour, a small piece of trash accidentally flew out of my 3-year-old nephew's hand and into the water. Instead of calmly addressing the situation with the adults in our group, the tour guide became aggressive and yelled at a 3-year-old child in front of our entire family and the other guests. The guide then stopped the tour, reversed the boat, went back to retrieve the piece of trash, and aggressively threw it into the trash can. We completely understand the importance of protecting the environment and keeping the waterways clean. What we do not understand is why a small child needed to be treated that way over an accident. The guide was also vaping throughout the tour, which I found to be very unprofessional and not the type of behavior I expected from someone representing a tour company. I contacted management afterward because I felt the situation needed to be addressed. Unfortunately, I was offered only a $20 refund, which I do not feel adequately acknowledges what happened or how poorly my family was treated. This review isn't about getting money back. It's about how customers--and especially children--are treated. We paid for a memorable family experience and instead left feeling embarrassed and disrespected. I sincerely hope management takes this complaint seriously, addresses the guide's behavior, and ensures that future families are treated with professionalism and respect.

Bring extra layers, and ear/head protection. The boat was stable and our guide was informative. We saw a few alligators in the water but nothing feeding. Our guide explained that alligators don't feed in the winter and generally stay in mud underwater to stay warm. I shared that I expected to be able to feed the alligators and take them out of the water as I had a on a similar tour many years ago. Our guide explained that this isn't legal and not practiced anymore. The alligators feed in the summer.

They handled it quickly, but it did make me a little uncomfortable not having the usual safety and tracking features you get when booking a rideshare yourself. With that much notice, I was a bit disappointed they hadn't better planned for hotel pick-ups. Once we arrived (with about five minutes to spare), everything turned around. Our guide, Steven, was fantastic -- you could tell he grew up in the area and genuinely cared about the wildlife and the swamp. He shared so many interesting facts about the habitat, trees, and animals that I never knew before. We did the 6-person airboat and it was awesome! Some people might find the wind a little cool, but I thought it was refreshing -- sun on your face, wind in your hair, and gorgeous views all around. We saw alligators and raccoons, and the old trees in the area were incredible. I had read that you might get wet or muddy, but we didn't have any issues. I'd still recommend closed-toe shoes, just in case. We brought rain jackets and water-resistant clothes, but it wasn't really needed since it didn't rain. Boarding and getting off the boat was from a deck, so no mud at all. Overall, the tour was absolutely worth it -- great price, great experience, and an amazing guide. Had to wait out an early morning thunderstorm that delayed us for about an hour. After that Cpt. Dave took us out. The winds were up all day, but he stayed the course and we came back with our dinner, plus. We had to move around a bit to catch em, but we were fishing instead of just casting, which is cool by me. The food was delicious and in no short supply. There were snacks everywhere but I never got to them. We had a full breakfast at 5:30am, sandwiches on the water, a serious Cajun flavored lunch after returning off the water. Last but not least our dinner was served on the half shell, made fresh from our days catch. Can't wait to do more catching and eating to
