We have done a boat tour before out in Slidell years ago for an anniversary trip. Today we tried Louisiana Boat tours with our family. Captain Bobby educated us on the flooding, vegetation, eagles, different types of fish, weather, shrimp, and gators. He is a gator whisperer but most of all he made our experience enjoyable. He made sure everyone on the boat was taking care of safely and made sure all of the kids and adults had an enjoyable experience. Toward the end, I asked if there were any good seafood restaurants close by. He recommended Jan's. Said it wasn't as pricy as some of the other spots. The swamps!!!! Ernie was the tour guide. This tour took you to the swamps to see live alligators in their habitat. We got knowledge on trees, waters and alligators life. He told humorous stories, gave artifacts, and he let us hold a baby alligator yay. This pontoon boat had three long rows of seating . This tour was an hour and a half long. We had a great tour with Bobby. Our boat had 8 people total, didn't feel crowded at all. There's no shade cover so wear a hat/sunglasses and some sunscreen. We had 81° sunny weather and the wind was sooo cool so we weren't so hot as we went around. He was very nice answering all the questions from guests. He made sure both sides of the boat got some gator action since I was on the left of a 4 person row so I couldn't see much that happened on the right but we got some good shots too! He made the trip extra special with some personal touches and surprise sightings you probably wouldn't get with other guides so ask for Bobby - you really won't regret it! We took our boys (7&10) for some fun and education out on the water. Trey was our captain. He was funny and had a lot of knowledge about the wildlife and even plants. The Captain was very informative of the history of New Orleans its waters, marine biologically and eco system. Great excursion! We did the Oak Alley Plantation and Swamp Tour - pick up right on time at our hotel and off we went to Oak Alley, which was a sugar plantation. We had enough time to do the house tour, view slave cabin exhibits, get some lunch and shop for souvenirs. This was the 3rd plantation I've been to, and while the oaks were absolutely breathtaking, the grounds were not as extensive as Mt Vernon in Virginia or Magnolia in Charleston - both those places you can spend a whole day bc there was so much to see. By comparison this was much much smaller. The next stop was the swamp tour - it was a blustery day so not much wildlife out except for various birds (bald eagle, heron, etc) and one small alligator. The highlight was Capt. Bobby (who was great) showing us his pet baby alligator and giving us all a chance to hold him and take pics! We also got to peek in the bayou which this tour company took Disney sketch artists to for Princess and the Frog inspiration! We visited New Orleans this weekend and decided to try one of the famous airboat tours--it was such a great choice! The experience started with a bus pickup. Since we were the only riders at the time, we ended up transferring, but our driver Jeff was wonderful. He greeted everyone warmly, explained the process clearly, and set the tone for a smooth start. When we arrived, we were so glad they had a store on site. The weather was a little chilly and rainy, so we grabbed sweaters and ponchos--lifesavers for the ride! Our captain (sadly didn't catch his name) was fantastic. He was down-to-earth, funny, and very knowledgeable about the swamps and wildlife. The highlight was definitely getting to hold "Al," the little alligator--what an unforgettable experience! The only downside (totally on us) was not having cash to tip our captain. He 100% deserved it, so we definitely recommend bringing cash with you. Maybe the company could even add a QR option for tips in the future . Probably one of the funnest things we did in Louisiana. We reserved a spot online for their alligator tour. Our family rented a car specifically so we can do a swamp tour and was so worth it. It took about 45 mins to get from New Orleans to the pick up area. It was small group, only 6 people for airboat. I really thought the tour guide definitely knew his stuff. We got ear covered headphones and you may want to use these because the engine gets loud when the boat is speeding through the water. Definitely a must do if you go to New Orleans! read more

Captain Dewey was the best. He took us out into the swamp and we saw multiple alligators and birds. It was really cool to see the alligator he called "Rex" who was a massive 14ft alligator. As a special treat, he brought out a baby alligator that was only 6 or so inches for us to hold and take pictures with. He taught it cooo tricks like play dead, roll over, and wave (video below). We lucked put with good weather for February. It was near 80 degrees so the gators were out. Our guide, Jason was fabulous. A wealth of knowledge and cared about the swamp and the impending disaster from the next big hurricane. He was so engaging and showed us a lot and took us to the edge of the marsh created by Hurricane Ida. The best part of the tour was passing around a 1.5 year old gator and then seeing him feed marshmallows to George the gator that comes up to the boat. The tour is 90 minutes. But the transportation back and forth takes up nearly twice that amount of time. It's best if you can drive there yourself read more

We were visiting NOLA for a couple days and decided to try something we don't have back in NC, an Airboat tour through the bayou. Ernie was our captain and he was very knowledgeable and entertaining, although I think he's gonna give some of them gators diabetes with all the marshmallows...haha JK. He's just trying to fatten them up for hunting season if I had to guess. The airboat was really cool. They are super loud, like way louder than you're thinking, they make loud Harley's sound like they are electric. Wear the headphones they provide. We got a front row seat and I only got a little wet. With the Louisiana heat I was dry before our bus got back to pick us up. The tour company we booked picked us up at our hotel and they were happy to drop us off down by the river and Jackson Square on the way back so we could get lunch with a view. Ernie took us to the places where they filmed Deliverance, the Expendables, and the Princess and the Frog. He gave us quite the history lesson on the area as well as biology lessons on gators. It was a fun trip and definitely worth it. We would definitely do this again if we were in the area. read more

We booked the 3 hour city tour combined with the small swamp boat tour. Best. Decision. Ever. The city tour was hilarious and informative. We went to different areas of the city hit hard by Katrina, went to an amazing cemetery and had a break at Cafe Du Monde. The swamp tour was incredible. Rocky was our guide and he killed it! Came here for the first time. At first I worried about not being able to see what everyone comes to see and that is wild creatures especially gators, but luckily, we saw a few wild gators, mostly little ones and 1 larger one. We also had a pack of raccoons and an old Indian cemetery. I was more excited about finally seeing a wild bald eagle. I've only seen them on TV or in a zoo lol. Our tour guide, Ian was very knowledgeable and did an amazing job informing us of some of the history of this private swamp we were traveling through. He had props that we got to handle to include a tiny little gator. It was an experience my family and I will cherish. Ian is very friendly and knowledgeable. The parking lot is small. They have a little gift shop that has some cool little souvenirs. They have restrooms right outside the ticket booth and a little area where you can see a baby gator and snapping turtle. I got my tickets on Groupons and it was saved us a lot of money so I'd recommend looking through that app. Use the Groupon Redemption code and call this company to book the dates and time you want. First time with my friend in New Orleans, I wanted to do something different. I went online through Tripadvisor and booked the Small-Group Swamp Tour by Airboat, reserve now pay later option. Loved that option, so you can track the weather forecast as you get closer to the date and cancel within the time frame with no penalty. We also opted to get picked up at our hotel for a fee, which worked out perfectly. There is 1/2 hour open window for the van transportation to pick you up as it picks up other people at different locations. The young lady driving our van to and from, was very nice. While driving through New Orleans she gave us a narrative on areas and historical sites. When you arrive at the boat docks, you check in and there is plenty of time to use the restroom and checkout the little country store they have. We were all divided into groups, no more than 9 people to an airboat. They also provided noise canceling headphone if you choose to wear them along with seat belts The boat ride was fun. I believe our captain/driver name was Douggie? He was very nice, friendly and informative though out the trip. He pointed out all the areas of vegetation and different wild life. The scenery was beautiful. We saw a Bald Eagle, Barn Owl, Turtles and of course alligators, along with his baby alligator we were able to hold. Definitely would recommend this adventure! read more

FANTASTIC swamp tour and easily one of my most memorable Louisiana tour experiences! Surprisingly, this wasn't actually on my list of to-do's initially. Wild animals are not my thing, but the swamp tour came highly recommended by many. SO glad that I booked this swamp tour with Louisiana Tour Company! I literally booked the tour the day before through TripAdvisor and scheduled a pickup near my Airbnb. They picked me up on time in a large bus that dropped everyone off at the registration office. After checking in at the registration office, we were put into small groups and guided to a dock where our tour guide loaded us onto the airboat. The start of the ride was so deceiving. It was slow and steady albeit loud due to the motor (they provided us with earmuffs to muffle the loud sounds). But soon we were speeding through the bayou with the wind whipping through our hair and clothes and water spraying us all over. The ride was super bumpy too. At times, I thought that it might flip over but it didn't. It was actually super fun and exhilarating. But be prepared to get wet and winded if you go. Our tour guide was excellent! He took us to different areas of the bayou and introduced us to different plant and animal species. Some were native but ironically, a lot of them weren't native to Louisiana. I learned so much about Louisiana's natural history. When you think of a swamp, you may think of it as being dirty. But this swamp was absolutely stunning and the ride was so beautiful too. It really opened my eyes to the beauty of Louisiana. The best part of all; we saw lots of gators! Large and small ones. Our tour guide knew all the best places to spot them. Near the end of the tour, he introduced us to his adorable 3 month old baby alligator. She was so damn cute. I was still too afraid to hold and touch her, but a few members of my group did and they really enjoyed it. Such an awesome experience! One of the BEST gator airboat tours we have ever been on and we have been on one in Miami Everglades and Costa Rica. This one was our favorite. So worth the money and bus ride there. Gorgeous day.
