Came back 9 years later and so glad we booked the airboat tour again. Captain Jason was awesome, he was able to call one of his favorite gatos Willie to come up and see us. I can't wait to come back and do another air boat tour! Bring a poncho to wear, we sat in the front and got splashed with water. It was hot while on the tour so we dried off, it was super fun gliding through the water! A

Great excursion! We did the Oak Alley Plantation and Swamp Tour - pick up right on time at our hotel and off we went to Oak Alley, which was a sugar plantation. We had enough time to do the house tour, view slave cabin exhibits, get some lunch and shop for souvenirs. This was the 3rd plantation I've been to, and while the oaks were absolutely breathtaking, the grounds were not as extensive as Mt Vernon in Virginia or Magnolia in Charleston - both those places you can spend a whole day bc there was so much to see. By comparison this was much much smaller. The next stop was the swamp tour - it was a blustery day so not much wildlife out except for various birds (bald eagle, heron, etc) and one small alligator. The highlight was Capt. Bobby (who was great) showing us his pet baby alligator and giving us all a chance to hold him and take pics! We also got to peek in the bayou which this tour company took Disney sketch artists to for Princess and the Frog inspiration! Lovely full day excursion and well organized - highly recommend!

We visited New Orleans this weekend and decided to try one of the famous airboat tours--it was such a great choice! The experience started with a bus pickup. Since we were the only riders at the time, we ended up transferring, but our driver Jeff was wonderful. He greeted everyone warmly, explained the process clearly, and set the tone for a smooth start. When we arrived, we were so glad they had a store on site. The weather was a little chilly and rainy, so we grabbed sweaters and ponchos--lifesavers for the ride! Our captain (sadly didn't catch his name) was fantastic. He was down-to-earth, funny, and very knowledgeable about the swamps and wildlife. The highlight was definitely getting to hold "Al," the little alligator--what an unforgettable experience! The only downside (totally on us) was not having cash to tip our captain. He 100% deserved it, so we definitely recommend bringing cash with you. Maybe the company could even add a QR option for tips in the future . Overall, we had a wonderful time and would absolutely recommend this tour company to anyone visiting New Orleans. Don't miss it!

OMG, soooo much fun. this tour was everything. Captain Jason was fantastic, knowledgeable and he really cares for the swamp and gators. The air boat was so much fun. Plenty of gators swam right up to the boat. we even met Willy the gator. I would 100% recommend this tour. The Shuttle picked us right up from the hotel. On site has a gift shop with snacks and drinks and a bathroom. Everyone was fantastic.

Lorraine was awesome to start off the adventure with. She picked us up and told us history about the area and was just great!!! Eden was great as a airboat tour guide could not have asked for a better tour guide! You could tell he loves the gators and was so educational. Seriously the best tour we could have booked. I highly recommend it to anyone booking.

Captain Dewey was the best. He took us out into the swamp and we saw multiple alligators and birds. It was really cool to see the alligator he called "Rex" who was a massive 14ft alligator. As a special treat, he brought out a baby alligator that was only 6 or so inches for us to hold and take pictures with. He taught it cooo tricks like play dead, roll over, and wave (video below). It was an excellent tour. I highly recommend it. Captain Dewey did a great job and I hope his boss sees this!

Really amazing tour thanks to Captain Ian - 9th generation NOLA guy that knows the history, ecology and much much more about the swamps! My wife and I had a great time! Beautiful coves, bald Eagle nests, lots of gators, got to hold Spike!! I highly recommend this small airboat tour!!

Absolutely recommend this company! Captain Dewy was a great tour guide and really made a lasting impression. I know there are lots of options out there- but this company has friendly employees, a great price, and sustainable practices. If I get a chance to come back to NOLA- I would absolutely do again!!

We lucked put with good weather for February. It was near 80 degrees so the gators were out. Our guide, Jason was fabulous. A wealth of knowledge and cared about the swamp and the impending disaster from the next big hurricane. He was so engaging and showed us a lot and took us to the edge of the marsh created by Hurricane Ida. The best part of the tour was passing around a 1.5 year old gator and then seeing him feed marshmallows to George the gator that comes up to the boat. The tour is 90 minutes. But the transportation back and forth takes up nearly twice that amount of time. It's best if you can drive there yourself

We were visiting NOLA for a couple days and decided to try something we don't have back in NC, an Airboat tour through the bayou. Ernie was our captain and he was very knowledgeable and entertaining, although I think he's gonna give some of them gators diabetes with all the marshmallows...haha JK. He's just trying to fatten them up for hunting season if I had to guess. The airboat was really cool. They are super loud, like way louder than you're thinking, they make loud Harley's sound like they are electric. Wear the headphones they provide. We got a front row seat and I only got a little wet. With the Louisiana heat I was dry before our bus got back to pick us up. The tour company we booked picked us up at our hotel and they were happy to drop us off down by the river and Jackson Square on the way back so we could get lunch with a view. Ernie took us to the places where they filmed Deliverance, the Expendables, and the Princess and the Frog. He gave us quite the history lesson on the area as well as biology lessons on gators. It was a fun trip and definitely worth it. We would definitely do this again if we were in the area.

Captain Ernie is a 10th generation Bayou boy and gave such great information. We saw lots of gators and other animals. Turtles, birds, etc. so glad we chose the quiet covered boat instead of the noisy airboat tour. Well worth it!

Loved Captain Ernie!!! He was super informative and knowledgeable! He really incorporated his childhood and years of past knowledge to make the experience fun! Saw so many alligators even though it is November. And yes, there are marshmallows but it was so cute for the alligators.

We booked transportation through them as well, which ran $72. For comparison, I checked Uber pricing and it was about $65 one way, and there were plenty of Ubers available near the tour location. The staff was friendly and easy to work with from the start. I ended up needing to change our date, and they were very accommodating, which I appreciated. Once we arrived at their headquarters, the place was clean, well kept, and had a true "bayou" feel to it. One interesting thing, they actually own the swamp land, so you're essentially touring their backyard... with alligators included. We were assigned Captain Matt, and he made the experience. You could tell he genuinely cares about the wildlife and the ecosystem, which added a lot to the tour. It wasn't just a ride, it felt informative and authentic. The tour lasted about 1 hour and 45 minutes. We chose to sit in the front, which meant getting a little wet, but the views were absolutely worth it, especially when the captain started interacting with the gators. Overall, this was money well spent. We had a great time and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans.

Date of tour: December 21, 2024…read more After a wonderful food tour in Prague last year, we wanted to replicate the magic stateside while visiting New Orleans, a city with a rich food history and scene. As requested, I will keep the individual location names secret as to not spoil your potential food tour but also because the stops can change and I don't want to have you disappointed if you don't get the same places on your tour. Ty was a great guide, providing us with local history and culture as we ate our way down Magazine Street. The only complaint I have is that they didn't really interact with us during the food portions, standing or sitting off to the side, or running to the next location to make sure we were all set. To me, the guide should be not only the bridge between the locations and food with us, but also a bridge between the different groups on the tour. Ty told us before the tour started that the other folks joining us were from Michigan, but we found out from them later that they were actually from New York. Had these connections been made earlier, it would have enhanced the tour. On to the food, wonderful that it all was! Please note that I may make some errors in the actual names of the food, while I took pictures, I did not write down the names and there wasn't a post-tour recap to assist me! Stop #1: A local sandwich and a seafood side. Both quite good, especially since I don't like olives! Stop #2: An unusual meat that was shockingly good! Stop #3: Seafood options. I've had a different version of one of these items in Asheville, NC. This wasn't quite as good but still tasty. Stop #4: Southern favorites that were so good! I didn't think I would like these but I did. Stop #5: A peppermint fudge cupcake. Sadly, the weakest stop on the tour. Other that tried the gelato came away disappointed and my cupcake was neither overly fudgey or pepperminty. It looked pretty, though!

The tour ended at the LaLaurie house, and our guide shared a story about a little girl on who was recently on his tour who started crying and asked why there were dead people on the balcony. Spooky! I was so intrigued by what he said that I started looking up stories about Delphine LaLaurie and the haunting of the house. When I got home, I even started watching season 3 of American Horror Story, which has the character Delphine LaLaurie (accurate? No. Fun? Yes!). This was a fun way to spend the evening. She came across like an overly dramatic theater kid who couldn't dial it back. Her mannerisms and constant theatrics were cringey, and while maybe one or two stories had potential, the delivery completely ruined them. She would randomly go off on personal tangents (where she lives, her parents, and other irrelevant details) that had absolutely nothing to do with ghosts or vampires and added nothing to the experience. The worst part was her points system, where she'd give out points if people followed instructions or answered questions. For example, when we stayed on the sidewalk instead of walking in the street, she'd shout "10 points!" and point at each person while repeating it. It wasn't quirky or fun, it was just annoying. I wouldn't recommend this tour based on her alone. After our awful experience we tried another company called Nola Ghost Riders and I'd highly recommend them. From the strategic blunders of the British in the War of 1812, to the two oldest buildings in the area (one a convent, the other Pirate Jean Lafitte's blacksmith shop), through the heart of this year's Decadence Festival, it was an amazing learning experience.

There are a few airboat tour companies near New Orleans, but we decided to go with Airboat Adventures due to the price and positive reviews online. I booked the tour online through their website. If you want something more private, go witha smaller airboat, which is a bit more expensive than the large airboat. But because we're chickens, we decided to go with the larger airboat that held more people. The tour offers transportation to their location by bus for an extra fee, but we decided to drive our own car since they provided on-site parking. I do recommend driving your own car, because the drive was absolutely scenic. A lot of green and we got to see all the beautiful houses built on stilts on the way. Not to mention, it's about a 30 min drive from New Orleans. When we arrived, there were plenty of parking. They also had bathrooms inside and on the exterior of their store, which were very clean! Inside the store, you can check out a live albino alligator and take photos while you wait. You can also wait outside on the dock -- plenty of seating and you can grab a drink at the bar. The tour was amazing and so was our tour guide. The weather was nice, we saw a lot of gators sunbathing a bald eagle, and its nest. It was more than what I expected! Everyone in my party had a great time and more memories were made! Side note: Airboats are very loud so make sure you keep the headphones on!
