Sometimes things just work out for a reason. I originally booked my hot air balloon ride with another local company (who kept my friend and I in suspense about whether or not we actually had a reservation because they were waiting to see if more people would book their tour). We found Adventures Out West on Viator and were not only able to book with them right away, but also get an immediate confirmation for our reservation. The only frustrating thing is that when booking through Viator, it requires a minimum of 2 people in order to book the reservation. I'm normally a solo traveler but fortunately I had a friend who wanted to do this excursion as well... But something to keep in mind if you are a solo traveler. You may want to reach out to the company directly to see if you can book as a party of one. The meeting place is about an hour drive from Denver. My friend and I left before dawn and made it to the meeting point by sunrise. Everybody on the team was friendly, energetic and welcoming even at such an ungodly hour. On the ride over to the departure site, they gave us a quick overview of what to expect as well as a safety briefing then we waited for them to unpack and inflate the balloon. After about 45 minutes we were ready to go. I am glad that I did this trip with a friend because it's close quarters in the basket. The basket has several compartments that each hold two people, bus compartments for the fuel tanks and another for the pilot. It's barely enough space in the compartment to turn around, so if you're going by yourself you're going to get to know a stranger VERY well by the end of the ride. The ride itself was absolutely wonderful. It was a calm, breathtaking glide across Colorado Springs. We drifted over the Colorado Springs Airport and got to watch an airplane take off right in front of us. We were about 2,000 ft up, so we were also able to see some of the local wildlife running around as we floated. It was a beautifully peaceful ride. The ground team was supposed to meet us at our landing site but unfortunately they got stuck in a ditch (we could see them from the air). They radioed the pilot of the hot air balloon (T-Dogg) to let him know what was going on and he handled the experience like the consummate professional. Our 40-60 minute ride ended up being almost 2 hours while T-Dogg figured out where to land. He kept us informed of the situation, let us know what his plan was, and never at any time did we feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Ultimately we ended up landing in the driveway of the Pikes Peak outdoor gun club. It was an adventure for everyone involved, as members drove around our massive hot air balloon to enter or exit the venue, snapping pictures and video as they went. The landing was astonishingly gentle. I expected a much more jarring experience but we touched down so softly, then gently bounced a few inches off the ground before coming to a full stop. Another testament to T-Dogg's skill as a pilot. Unfortunately the ground crew was unable to get themselves unstuck, so the staff were able to coordinate ground transportation from another vehicle in their fleet: A modified Jeep that thankfully had space for all of us. We ride by the ditch where the ground team was stuck, picked up all of our items and then headed back to the meeting point where we were welcomed back with some wonderful refreshments including mini muffins and cinnamon rolls, fruit and cheese, as well as a champagne toast, which is an integral part of the hot air balloon experience so you don't want to miss that. This has been a bucket list item for me for a while and I cannot imagine having a better experience than I did with Adventures Out West. read more

This is a review of the Garden of the Gods Foothills jeep tour. Walked in the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center and was offered this tour. Since we had the time, we said might as well try it. It was the end of February. Even though it was winter, that day was nice and temperature was not too cold. However, there were parts of the tour where the wind was strong and constantly hitting your face. If you're not wearing sunglasses or anything to protect your eyes, it would be difficult to appreciate the sights, not to mention the wind chill. Glad I brought my gloves. The seats were heated and there's a wool blanket available. The first part of the tour was Garden of the Gods. There were 10 people on this tour. We went around the Garden of the Gods and our tour guide showed us several features and shared interesting facts/stories throughout. We stopped a few times at the Garden of the Gods but you would not stop to go down and have pictures/selfies taken. This was disappointing to me; it would have been better if we did. After this part, only 4 of us remained for the foothills part of the tour. We passed through Cheyenne Canyon and went up to Helen Hunt Falls where we stopped, went down and had some opportunity to take photos and get close to the falls. After this, we went further into the railroad tunnels. The entire tour including the Garden of the Gods one took about 2 hours. Though the view was gorgeous up there, the second part of the tour was underwhelming to me. The Garden of the Gods was beautiful but you could do a tour on your own, take your sweet time, stop, go down, and take your own pictures. Overall, the tour was okay; I do not think it's worth the $100 though. read more

We had a group of 6 touring the Garden of the Gods by segway. Two in our group were experienced and 4 of us were newbies. Michaela was so patient with us and made sure everyone was comfortable and safe on the segways before we headed out for our tour. She did a great job stopping at various places along the tour to explain the history, answer questions, and point out various things. What an amazing experience!! Our guide, Ringo, was absolutely fantastic! He was friendly, knowledgeable, a wonderful driver (you feel very safe even with the sheer drop-offs and zero guardrails on the road) and a great storyteller. He kept us all entertained the entire trip. I had been up to Pike's Peak once before when I was a child and wanted to take my son to the summit to share the experience with him. I took the cog railway up the first time and I can honestly say that the Jeep tour is SO much better, the scenery is far superior on the drive vs the cog and you never feel rushed. We had plenty of time to take pictures, visit the gift shop and get some of those famous donuts. Definitely book with Adventure Out West and ask for Ringo if you can! read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I absolutely would. We went on 04/08 to zip line to celebrate our daughters 11th birthday. Her choice in activities might I add lol, I'm not one to suggest flying off a mountain to my kids. But I digress. The guides were absolutely amazing. I think maybe their names were Ben and Jason? I'm so sorry if that's wrong, I'm legit the worst with names. They made everyone so comfortable and we all shared so many laughs and genuinely felt like we were just hanging out with friends. My kids both left asking when we were going to come back. It's a quick guided zip line tour. Took maybe an hour to an hour and a half. It went by so fast though. There are 5 zip lines that you get to go on. Some are super fast, some you're able to cool tricks on. Highly suggest if you're even a little bit curious or adventurous. read more

We tried this place in 2016 and then came back Oct 2020. There are 5 ziplines for $90 per person. The price hasnt changed in the last 4 years. The rides are excellent and the guides give you specific instructions on each line about what you can and cannot do to avoid dragging your butt on the ground at takeoff, etc. They do allow you to go upside down on the 3rd and 5th lines and during the 2nd take off do a flip if you are capable. My daughter who weighs 80 lbs had no problems at all. They do have a parking lot and then you take a jeep ride up to the ziplines. And bring a sticker because you can put it up on the takeoff pole on the 4th line read more

Ignore the strip-mall front of this business. For something like this, you don't need a flashy front. You're at the headquarters for at most ten minutes anyway. The guide knew everything there was to know about Colorado Springs and the surrounding area. For a Garden of the Gods tour, there was less of that than expected, but it worked out for the best. We were able to see most of the rock formations from the Jeep and were able to avoid the lines. Getting the history of the Broadmoor Estate, the geography of North Cheyenne Cañon, and the history of Glen Eyrie was better than just a quick tour of the Garden of the Gods. Be aware the front and middle of the Jeeps can get hot while the back is windy. read more

We did 5 lines in total, which gave us time to experiment with fun tricks like going upside down. They also provide water along the way, which was a great perk, given the hot weather. Biked down from the top of Pikes Peak. Scott has put together a world class team of bike guides (Kyle and Anson) and a jeep guide (Summit) who knows the local history and told with humor. My wife and I are in our 60s and they made her feel very comfortable and safe. You go down at your own pace and there are 5-6 stops along the way for picture taking. We never felt rushed. My wife had a little altitude sickness at the top so they let her ride in the jeep until she was ready. We charter a jeep for our group of 5. Multi- generation trip that had enough excitement and education/ views for everyone to enjoy. Prairie Dog was our guide and we had a awesome time. The guys were really nice and I'm sure they meant no harm. The harness they provided sat right above my bottom ribs. They never really check to see if this was ok or not. On the third zip line he said this is where you hang upside down. He did for but recommend. After doing so when I flipped back up right it broke my bottom to ribs from the harness sliding under my ribs then putting my body weight suddenly back on my rib. A visit to the er and $8k later I strongly don't recommend going upside down. As for the company they need more training and to make sure that these harnesses are riding in the proper place. This company operates Segway, Bikes etc. This review is for the Jeep Tour ONLY. Ours was a group of 6. The tour took us into the park, took us into a lot of city streets, Rampart Range Road and some more trips in the hills. There were some good points like tunnels, really small roads at elevation with little to no protected curbs. The guide/driver was good but the poor sound system negated the experience. Some of the view points were good. By the way, the driver didn't stop at any of the view points and his point was there are no parking spots. Isn't that crazy!!? I am disappointed with the choice that we made to take Jeep Tour. I want to rename this company as "Agency of Greed". Why? The pricing of any service should be in such a way that the customers should appreciate the value of the service that they received for the price that they paid. But, this company is banking on the lack of knowledge of customers in this tourist attraction and placing the ticket value at a high price point. If you are considering to take a Jeep tour, then think again. You are better off driving your own car in the park. read more
