I am enthusiastic about Aerostich. Their suits have saved my skin (literally, in the correct use of that term). I have owned three of them over time, and I would not hesitate to buy another. I gained weight, and the first no longer fit; both the second and the third remain in service, and they look fine. Here is the background. I started riding in 1992. I had wanted a motorcycle from my teen years. My parents of course would have none of that. I bought a Honda Hawk GT when I was an adult with my first "real" job. Over the years, I have ridden other bikes. I owned a BMW for about a decade, a behemoth that was great for touring but too heavy for the urban commuting. I'd regard myself as an experienced rider, but not a hooligan. I am always in protective gear: suit, helmet, boots, and gloves. I had studied the options back before I acquired the Honda. Aerostich was already in business. I ordered a two piece red suit. It was an extravagant purchase. But I figured it was not expensive relative to its function. I also planned to use it regularly. I did so. If you take into account all the considerations, I would regard it as an excellent value if not an outright bargain. I was using a Shoei helmet before the Schuberth ones became readily available. I had Aerostich combat touring boots, and I like them, but I have concluded that other than for long trips they are too much. I have different brands of gloves, and the mom and pop outfit who made the deerskin ones I favored has long since been defunct. I also have the waxed cotton jacket, an earlier generation. That would not offer much crash protection. I wear it out and about as well. My wife is not fond of it due to the padding, which makes me bulkier and with more edges, a bad combination. After riding across the continent, I was hit by a car in the Haight Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, at that very intersection made famous during the Summer of Love. I was partly at fault. The teen driver, who lacked insurance, swerved when I did not expect and knocked my rear wheel out from under me. I was passing him on the inside, which is a cautionary story about lane splitting. Although I was traveling maybe ten miles per hour, I had enough forward momentum to go down and slide straight into the curb. When I walked into the UCSF emergency room, the triage nurse said you're the first motorcyclist I've ever seen walk into the ER. The helmet did not show any sign of contact with the pavement. I am glad I had it on of course. But the suit had enough scuffing (not enough damage to even warrant sending it back in for repairs though) that it was clear if that had been a layer of clothing I would have lost much of my epidermis and faced a very painful and likely lengthy recovery. As it was, I only fractured my pinky finger, and the doctor said to me, we can't do anything for you, it'll have to heal on its own, but a hairline crack like that will never be fully back to normal, and when you are in your fifties you'll probably have developed arthritis there, and you'll feel intermittent pain -- and the prediction was accurate, but on the scale of things if being hit by a car damaged only my pinky finger, I'm fine with the outcome. I've logged many miles in the Aerostich suits. I haven't gone down since 1992, but I will vouch for this product. I probably have ridden zero miles without donning this outfit. Other than in the coldest, hottest, or wettest conditions, it is perfect. While I would ride to ever so slightly colder than is comfortable in an Aerostich, the addition of a balaclava and a vest take care of the issue. I ride in the summer, and on the highway you're fine; I would wear only a t-shirt and shorts underneath if you were planning to be in stop and go urban traffic on a summer day. The water resistance is just shy of perfect. In a downpour, you will have leakage around the zippers. That is to be expected. it would be impossible to do much better, without undue weight and problematic complexity. I like the look too. You could not rob a bank in this costume. I tell kids I'm the Yellow Power Ranger. People take notice -- you want that while out there, to ensure you, as riders say, keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down. read more

Terrible customer service! This company was recommended to me and I was excited to get an R3 suit for myself and another one for my dad. I found a sale suit in my size on the website, ordered it and received a confirmation email. 3 weeks later never received the suit and called customer service who told me my order didn't exist. Was informed that the computer system glitched on their end and they cancelled my order. I asked if I could re-order the suit and was told that it was sold. I asked if I could get a replacement suit for the price I paid and was told they would sell me a different one for $161 more! If I owned a business and it was my companies fault an order was messed up I would make it right. Also 3 weeks later the suit I originally ordered is still listed as available on their website! Ok, so how do you give any company five stars when the stuff is so expensive? Easy, it's the best MC apparel you can get in my opinion. I've had some experience with their gear that I wish I hadn't. About a year after purchasing my first Roadcrafter two piece I had an unfortunate meeting with the pavement at about 60mph. That suit absolutely saved my bacon. 300ft slide and not a scratch on me, at least where the suit covered me. (My glove came off so my hand was another story.) To this day I ride and I wont get on a bike without my new 'Stich' on. Expensive stuff yes. Less expensive than a hospital visit though. They also have other great products. Some they are just a distributor for and others they make in house. I happen to have one of their in house produced tablet sleeves for my IPad Mini and it is a perfect, secure fit. This is Mecca if you ride. 2nd visit riding up from Chicago. Attended 2 of the 4 Boring Rally's and just love wandering around the store and meeting the people there. All very nice and super friendly and helpful. the roads around here are all jacked up due to construction but that just means you get to go up some ridiculously steep hills. I take it back, I found something relatively inexpensive there. I got some heated grips for $27! So far the cheapest and with the best quality to be had. The only thing is their customer service, not as great as before. I ordered their heated vest with my heated grips, they didn't have the vest but neglected to notify me. Luckily I saw that they didn't charge my credit card and called them to order another vest. Even after I told them, the customer service rep didn't offer to send it for free or discounted price. In the end I had to ask for it. They did send it free. When I got my heated vest, they gave me the wrong connectors, so I had to call them up. It took forever to explain to them what I needed. This time they did offer to overnight it. read more

Aerostich charges a premium for a a "custom" fit suit which they refuse to support if you have fitment issues. The collar on their R3 suit is horrendous but you don't find that out until spending a couple hours riding with it... Which renders it un-returnable. Well they will take it back with a restocking fee "upon evaluation" which is their way of screwing customers that are not happy with the fit of their suits. If you call for help you end up talking to a bunch of robots who repeat the phrase "we cannot make alterations which deviate from the original design". That phrase must be in their training manual. So now I am paying a local shop to fix the crap collar. Go with a manufacturer who supports customers after you fork over your cash. It is definitely is not these guys. read more

Beware Custom Suites! First of all, I have to say that their riding gear is very well built, and I know that most people are very happy with their suits. I also like the gear that they carry. However, My experience should cause you to think twice if you are about to have any custom size options made to your riding gear - especially for the $ you are about to shell out! When you decide to purchase, Aerostich will send you a suit to try on. From their, you can call and talk through options with their sales staff - great concept! I followed this process and ordered this suit with armor, knee pads, knee pucks and a back protector, all at the same time so that it would be designed to accommodate. However, since day one the suit has been uncomfortable to wear. So it has hung in the closet for most of its life. The issue is that the suit fits tight around the knees, chest and under the armpits. If I take out all of the armor that I paid extra for, then the suit fits. Bottom line - they did not account for the products that they sold me. Immediately after receiving the suit, I called to state my concerns. The suggestion was to wear the suit without the knee pads or the back protector! No fix was offered! Instead of going without protection, I have worn the suit fully armored on four separate trips since owning it. I have called at least a dozen times, that I can recall, looking for help. Each time the representatives basically said that there was nothing they could do since the suit is custom. The last time I called, which was probably a year ago, the person said for me to bring it in for a fitting which is not practical based on distance - 1200 miles. Because this is a premium product, I expect more cooperative customer service from this company. I have tried to work out an arrangement to resolve this, and all they have offered is for me to spend more money to have them modify. In addition, the suggested modifications would only resolve about half of the issues. read more

I have been dealing with Aerostich for almost 15 years. There is nobody that stands behind their products like Aerostich. I have always gotten outstanding service from all the staff. I have never had an issue with a return or a wrong order ever. Very few companies make things in the USA anymore. Not to mention that they can repair there garments if needed. For hardcore riders an Aerostich makes a statement. Quality toughness and the ability to ride anywhere anytime in any weather even when people think your nuts. Function over fashion wins everytime when meeting the pavement unexpectedly. I dropped off my Darien jacket today for a shoulder repair and a cleaning. Its going to be a long winter read more
