We stopped by this shop a year after our first visit. Much to my surprise, Mabelle, was still working there! She made my first experience so enjoyable and this one was no exception. I purchased one of their beautiful perfumes which has become the one I wear on a daily basis. I look forward to another trip to the Aesop shop in Waikiki to learn more about other offerings! The price point is a higher than I usually spend on fragrance and skincare so these purchases serve as treats. They are made more special by the kind service of Mabelle and team at this Aesop. I'm a man, with lots of testosterone, but I really love this store. Besides my hands being calloused from lifting weights they were also very dry in some parts. But I got two things: an exfoliating hand soap with pumice stones and this hand cream thing I forgot what it was called and I didn't even care if they worked I just wanted to be fancy, but they did work! My hands were softer and I got complimented by like 2 people and they smelled nice(my hands) :) The second time I went was a banger. I actually went in this time with the intent to acquire face wash cuz my face sucks and I don't know anything. But Ms. Jessica was super helpful in explaining to me the differences in face stuff and how they work. I just wanted to buy face wash but her analogy of the face mask thing is what caused me to buy it haha. My acne's been clearing up, but it's not kdrama male lead clear, , , yet! It was my first time in this retail store. I've heard amazing things through social media. Mabelle greeted my kids and I as I entered the beautiful space. She gave us a five star experience, while sharing the architecture (the repurpose of the tiles from the original International market and the sink from Pearl Harbor). She was a delight, while I tried my best to shop the products with three young small children in tow. There were a few items that were out of stock, but she noted that she could place a call to the other location at Ala Moana if I'd like. I love all the details from the moment I stepped into the store and the whole process to checkout. I noticed every small action the brand took in being eco conscious from the scent stones, towels to dry my hands with, and the demonstrations of the room scents. Mabelle was amazing. No matter how good your products are, if your customer service sucks, your brand sucks. Aēsop has everything you want in a brand: great products -- we use Aēsop for everything including washing our dog with their dog soap -- world/class customer service, ultra aesthetic driven stores, and well-designed packaging and labels. Most of their stores always leave you smelling great and feeling good after a pleasant shopping experience but this one located in the International Marketplace is by far our favorite one. Andrew, the product specialist and concierge who was holding the fort today went over-and-beyond and gave us hands-down the best shopping experience. We ended up stocking up on the products to bring home and received a bunch of treatment samples and local hotspots tips from him. Fantastic service--friendly, patient, and incredibly helpful! The employees took the time to walk my bf and I through the various scents available for their perfumes, hand washes, and lotions, while simultaneously describing the key olfactory notes and country of origin for the development of their products. The minimalistic interior of the shop imparted a sense of serenity, which was heightened by the complimentary tea and the ability to test out the various scents. As I was walking through the International Market Place, I ran into Aesop's newly opened store. Their first Hawai'i location is at the Ala Moana Center. I wasn't familiar with this Australian skin, hair and body care products that focuses on the finest quality plant-based and laboratory made ingredients. The salesperson was very friendly and offered to show me some skin care products. He explained their approach for using topical anti-oxidants as they fortify the skin. The design of this store is reminiscent of an apothecary shop or compounding pharmacy. Their products are laboratory tested for efficacy and purity. Aesop "marries" globally sourced ingredients with advanced technology and scientific practices to craft formulations that can be customized to the customer's needs. I didn't purchase anything that evening but, I'd certainly look into some formulations that could help improve my skin care regimen. read more

Prior to my visit, I had no knowledge of Aesop. I only ever noticed their store at Ala Moana. My impression was a store that smelt good and always has one or two staff members waiting for you to walk in. So depending on the person, it could be intimidating or discouraging to give the store a chance. We wanted to buy a gift for a friend that loves the brand, so we decided to stop by the International Market Place location. They only allow 2 customers at a time, so we had to wait outside. This location is very small, so standing in line allows you to unintentionally listen in on the customer interaction in front of you, so feel free to return after a quick walk around the market place or adjacent stores. There was a woman already being helped and we had to wait for 10 minutes or so while she was finishing up and talking a little bit. I admit, I was a little hesitant to walk in because I just wanted to buy the gift and leave without too much small talk or being pushed into all the possible upgrades we can add on. But by the end of my experience, my opinion completely changed. On this day, we were helped by Andrew and it was because of him that I'll be coming back. His service, knowledge, and energy was exceptional. You start off the experience by washing your hands with their product. Everything is non-contact, so he'll turn the water on for you and place some soap on your hands, all while explaining about the product. It's a perfect way to not only to clean your hands, but get introduced to the quality and aroma of the soap. We let him know we were there for a gift, and were specifically looking for some kind of hand cream. He then got all the products that included cream, explained a little bit about each product, and even gave us a price point, which I feel many stores don't do as to not scare people away lol. From here, he let us be to check out the products and talk it over and decide what we will buy. His service was the perfect balance of giving information, making sure we were okay, and giving us space to do our shopping. I learned more about the brand and the care they put not only in the products, but the stores themselves. They respect the land/environment and try to incorporate the culture of the locations their stores are in. For example, before the current luxury brand filled, tourist targeted International Market Place, it was a mainstay of Waikiki that was almost 60 years old before it closed in 2013. Although everything is different from what I remember from my childhood, they kept the large Banyan tree towards Kalakaua Ave. I was also delighted to learn that the Aesop store incorporated the original tiles/flooring from the old International Market Place, and the sinks and glass within the store also has a connection to the past. Overall amazing experience and much mahalos to Andrew again for everything. I look forward to my next visit to try other products, and I also highly recommend to at least check the shop out, even if you have no interest beforehand. read more

I came in just to browse the selection with my friend, but I came out with a new knowledge of skincare with the help of Jessica! Jessica was very knowledgeable and passionate about skincare, and she was able to determine the exact types of products that would be perfect for my skin type. I felt very comfortable and welcomed, and this was easily the best customer service experience I've ever had! Walking past this store, you'll catch a whiff of a lovely fragrance. At first glance it looks like a pharmacy store or a bottle store. My sister quickly informed me about their products. Aesop is well known for its high end plant based products for your body and hair. When I walked in, the worker politely greeted me and asked me about my skin. I told her this information, and she suggested some products for me. I have been using their products for a while and its definitely worth it. I'm no beauty guru, but Aesop made me feel beautiful. I use their "amazing face cleanser" and "control". I loved using the control for those pimples that would pop out of nowhere during that time of the month. Whenever I see Aesop products, luxury is what comes to mind since I normally see my bougie friends or businesses and hotels using their products. Yes their products are expensive but I think their quality of craft and customer service make it worth it. I happened to be at the International marketplace to check out the new Queens Waikiki Luau and decided to peek into Aesop since I have never been inside. I will admit I am guilty of using their free samples at the entrance when I walk past! Once I stepped in, Andrew the associate welcomed me in and asked me what I was looking for. When I told him I was interested in their hand soap for my guest bathroom, he asked what types of scents I enjoy. I told him I typically enjoy floral and citrus scents and immediately brought me to the sink to try "Resurrection". I could not believe it but he nailed it in one try! I LOVE this scent. He offered to let me try other soaps but I did not want to overwhelm my nose with too many smells so decided to purchase it. When Andrew found out I worked at a hotel nearby, he was so sweet and acknowledged the hard work that many of us had to endure during the pandemic, and offered me a small discount as a thank you! He truly made the experience 5 stars and I am so happy to have finally stepped foot into an Aesop. All of their soaps are $39 and sold at one size (16.9 oz). Botanical, good for you and the environment but a definite investment. Thanks to a friend for introducing me to these products about a year or so back--I've slowly tried more and more of their skincare. Overall I like the concept. The store is well-organized and service has always been great. If there's anything you'd like to try or you have questions about your skin, hair or a product, I've found the folks here nothing short of gracious and helpful. I specifically really like the In Two Minds toner, the weekly Primrose Mask and the Lucent Concentrate / serum. As another reviewer said, the Control spot treatment is good for surprise blemishes too. I actually came in here on a whim after having noticed a sign advertising room sprays. The first time I walked by, one of the employees was standing outside the storefront, and I became hesitant to enter thinking the store might be like one of those horrendous kiosks in Ala Moana with the workers who harass all the passersby. After doing some shopping at other stores in the marketplace, I decided to try and go in anyway; I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience at Aesop. The interior of the store is just like an Eastern medicine shop with walls covered in drawers seemingly full of oddities, plus it smells really great. I ended up testing the three fragrances of room spray. The two saleswomen were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their products. I ended up purchasing the new Istros scent which I am now totally addicted to. As I left, I received a cup of hot herbal tea as well as a handful of samples for body cleanser, moisturizer, and toner as well. I really rarely write reviews but I popped in today for a quick visit to check out some new products since the humidity here has been breaking me out. Mabelle was the associate helping me out and she honestly made the whole experience such a delight. She took the time to explain each product in such thorough detail and walked me through how I could apply it to my daily skin care regime. I loved how she took the time to ask my about my skin concerns and experiences with past products. Spent a little too much time in the sun today and I needed something besides cheap aloe to heal my skin. We were just randomly walking by, and we were greeted by one of the nicest sales associates I've ever met. I forget her name, but she went to the fridge and got some sprays for my burnt skin, and let me spray away! Went into Aesop today because I love the smell of that store and was determined to find out what my fav scent is that I always smell! The soap at Bills Sydney in Waikiki is just what I wanted. The front of the store boasts 5 samples of various lotions. They smell really great! Once the sales associate was no longer busy he came over to help us to explain the scents and tell us his favorites. I told him which was my favorite from the 5 then asked about the soap at Bills. He knew immediately which soap I was talking about and directed me to the sink to try it. He even let me try another soap which was just as good. He offered some mint tea while I shopped and washed my hands! He also offered me some other samples of similar scents that I would like. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the products and ingredients inside. He pointed out smaller sizes of the products I wanted as well. When I asked about stores in LA, he knew all of them!! It's perfect for me since I want to use it in LA, so I can just buy them there instead of trying to take it on the plane. I will definitely shop here again! The staff is so friendly. The soaps and lotions price point is high but the quality is amazing. You pay for what you get and I would say it is worth it. Very bad customer service. Just wanted to know how much the average price was for their products and the woman on staff said in a very unprofessional, offensive tone, "What are you asking me?" I repeated myself and she showed me to their pricing list. I tried to make small talk and ask some questions about their products which she then proceed to ignore and move on to another customer. The experience made me feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, and sort of sad (almost like I was wasting her time). Will not be coming back unfortunately, especially since after my time there I still don't really know about the merchandise. read more

Smells like a spa in here! This place has a lovely smell and vibe. I have been here twice and each time I was greeted and helped right away. I joked with the women working there that they should open a spa and apparently they have in a few different locations. They have a variety of products, all in different price ranges. They actually have a price menu you can take a look at, which I thought was super helpful so I could look at what was and was not in my price range and then go find those products. They also have a really awesome farm house style-like sink that has a variety of products for you to try. I also walked away with a ton of samples. They also log what samples you try in the computer, so you can easily come back and purchase it if desired in the future. And if the sample does not work or you don't like it, you can simple try something else. In the end, I bought an acne control mask and a face lotion, both of which have been fabulous so far and were very affordable.
