Irina is incredibly rude and lacking in customer service. I received a voucher for a full body scrub and mask as a gift and lost it. Found it today and it expires tomorrow. I call and ask if she has room to see me today or tomorrow. I explain the groupon expires and I hope she can see me, but if not when can I schedule an appointment. I know it expires, so obviously I'm going to pay for service, right? To my surprise the lady on the phone berated me for waiting to the last minute and all she said is no no no. I visited this salon and used by Livingsocial coupon in Nov 2011. I normally go to Skin So Sweet in Huntington Beach. However, even with Irina's normal prices, it is a great deal for sugaring. She is very professional and has a warm personality. She just wants her customers to be taken care of. Irina has been doing sugaring for over 20 years, and does a great job. I also got a facial with her the following month, which was decent but not the greatest. There was some mask residue left over on part of my face and in my hair. The shop is very cute as well, and there is a cafe next door, so you can drop by there after your visit for some breakfast/brunch. It is a cute area of Long Beach. The only thing about it is to ensure that you arrive early as it is hard to find parking. I parked a few streets away in the neighborhood surrounding the area. read more

I have never really written a review before, but I really did not enjoy my services here (probably should have read the reviews before). I have only done sugaring once at Bronzed Sugar and LOVED IT! So when I found a groupon for here I was excited to try a new place, especially for the low price. When you walk in, it was just Irina waiting for me. I got weird vibes from the start but kinda ignored it (I wanted to give it a fair shot). She checks me in for my brazilian and she leads me to the room. She basically told me to lay on the bed and she'll come back in a moment. I lay on the table but there is no towel to cover myself. Weird but again, ignored it. She then comes in and starts the sugaring. First thing I noticed ... she isn't wearing gloves and she's working with my downstairs region. Next, she is going HARD. I did not feel nearly as much pain my first time. She puts large globs and yanks the crap out of it, I had to hold back tears. She is also telling me to put my hands or my torso and even though I am doing it as she says, she kinda seemed annoyed the entire time and would roll her eyes or mumble to herself. I bought a Groupon for two facials here. For my first facial, I called Irina to make an appointment. She is very hard to understand and it was hard to find an available time. When I showed up, she told me the water was out in the building. I rescheduled, but asked next time if she could inform me in advanced....a phone call, tell me not to come in would have been nice. The next time I went in, she was about 10 minutes late. The facial was okay. She doesn't tell you what she's putting on your face so you just have to trust her....she steams your face, then puts a scrub on, and then extracts some pimples with her nails and a napkin!after her extractions, she uses a mask. She puts uses her phone for "meditation music" which is fine....except that her phone kept rining and buzzing throughout my facial. For my second facial, she called me to reschedule for 30 minutes later than our appointment time. I agreed, but if you are tight on time or like keeping appointments, maybe look elsewhere. My second facial was the same experience as the first...I was unwhelmed by my facials here. read more

I had a really bad experience today. I was there about 30 minutes before my appointment. She started rushing trough, even thought the next customer wasn't even there yet. It felt so rushed. It was so painful. This wasn't my first time doing sugar wax but it had never hurt that much. She was unprofessional and was just talking about her next customer having to wait. Hence customer wasn't even there and I am a paying customer too. She walks in and out with product on her hands while you are in the bed exposed. At the end she threw me package with a face cloth to wipe myself. The package only had one and wasn't even for that area. I wish I could give NO STARS. Please do not go here! I called for an appointment and spoke directly to Irina. I showed up on time for my appointment and sat and waited for 10 minutes before she came out. When I told her I had an appointment she was confused and said she didn't have me scheduled. When I reminded her of our conversation, she remembered me and admitted she forgot to schedule me but could squeeze me in between clients...even though I had scheduled an appointment. The room was DIRTY. There was hair all over the floor and looked like it had not been swept, bottles of product were all over the counter and spilled. Not that thorough. She may answer the phone or go out of the room. A wax should only take 15 mins. I am Asian. I completely agree with other reviewers, Irina is scatter brained. While she is friendly and welcoming her skills as an esthetician are lacking. I tried her out on a living social deal. I was not too happy with the first visit but gave her another chance. The second visit was just as bad. On the first visit the person scheduled before me was late. Irina will wait 10 minutes before going onto the next customer. If I were late I guess I would appreciate that. However, that person being late pushed me back over 30 minutes. Both visits I had to clean the cleaning products and cotton ball leftovers off of my face after the facial was done. I guess she couldn't see them even with me standing right in front of her. It was also like she wasn't quite sure what to do next as the facial progressed. On the both visits she answered either the business phone or her cell phone. This place is the worst! I will not be coming back here. I bought a Groupon deal to get a hair cut, conditioning treatment, and blow-dry, but my experience from start to finish was horrible. You are required to make an appt. for your hair cut, which I called Mary Ann and she did not call back until 3 days later. I made an appt. with her 2 weeks in advance and then I called back the next day to see if I can come in earlier on the same day. She never returned my call, so I already had a bad impression of the place. I stuck to my normal appt. time, since she did not call me back. I already had a bad feeling about the place and was thinking of returning my Groupon which I should have definitely done in the first place. She started off by washing my hair and then I didn't even get a conditioning treatment, unless putting conditioner in my hair is considered a treatment. She cuts my hair and I was asking for recommendations, which she says I'll cut it however you like it. So, she will not give you any input. I asked for layers and I didn't even get any except for one in the front. I was so scared for her to cut my hair, so I only ask for 3 inches off my hair and good thing I did since I have to go get another hair cut now, as I noticed there is a section of my hair that is longer than the other side!! Also, when she was blow drying my hair, she made me flip my hair over like if I was at home doing this to myself. I have never been to a salon where they have you do this. Also, my hair was not completely dried when she was done. Although I had the worst haircut ever, I was stilling going to tip her and she told me no it's okay. I think Mary Ann knew that she gave me a bad hair cut because she didn't even want to take my tip for the horrible job she did. Pros: Clean, simple atmosphere Irina was nice My skin looked pretty good after the facial - not red or irritated Nice facial and neck/shoulder massage Cons: The paraffin wax hand treatment was not performed No explanation of products used - for example, when I asked what kind of mask she was using she said, "raspberry" Extractions were done with "napkin and nails" Irina's phone rang a few times during the facial and she answered it once. Long time Brazilian waxer, but 1st time experiencing the Brazilian sugaring. The results are very satisfying. Irina was quick, yet thorough and efficient! Yes, Brazilian services DO involve pain ladies; they're never a walk in the park! However, the pain was minimal with the sugaring. I bought a groupon and was so excited for my first facial. To make a long story short, she asked if I wanted to "upgrade" for an extra $25. I said okay assuming I'd get the works. I ended up only getting 35 minutes of my "upgraded" facial. Not only did I end up getting less and paying more, but it was obviously super rushed (she used a sheet mask for maybe 3 minutes), she didn't explain anything. I had to ask her questions to get anything out of her and she was very difficult to understand, which I do hate to say because she was nice. The facial room was adjacent to what sounded like a construction site and her phone went off a few times. Just overall unpleasant experience. Wouldn't recommend. I went in for a Brazilian sugar wax. She brings me to a little room inside of a nail/hair salon. This room was dirty! She just left me in there no instructions I assumed I get undressed but she didn't leave a towel for me to use to cover and she didn't have anything there for me to wipe down there. I've been to many places to get sugared and they always tell me to wipe whatever area they will be removing the hair from. She didn't talk much. Or I should say she didn't talk to ME much. She was just whispering stuff so I assumed she was talking to herself.
