I was under the impression that my prescriptions could only be sent to who my health insurance assigned me to. I wish I had known that a year ago when my new doctor started sending my new meds to a different pharmacy. I switched here recently and from the beginning, service was prompt and professional. I received a text and email notifying me they are working on my order. Not even an hour later I got a second set of notifications informing me my medications were ready for pick up. Pharmacists went over them and I was good to go. I really wish and regret not coming here sooner. I am endured a whole year of agony with another chain pharmacy and switched by the recommendation of my doctor who was even surprised at what I had been dealing with. Something must have changed since the upbeat reviews of the pharmacy department at this location. I had enough disappointment at CVS and decided to transfer my Rx to this Walgreens on Carson St in Lakewood. None of the clerks I interacted with seemed to have much experience. I went in once to initiate the transfer, and a second time four hours later to check the transfer status, make sure they had my contact and insurance info correct, and learn the medicine was on order for the next day (because they didn't bother to update me). Sure enough though, despite having all the info in front of their face, the techs/pharmacist managed to botch the insurance and drug company copay assistance processing. So when I went in to pick up my Rx, they had to reprocess it. The bottom line is they are just as uncaring and incompetent as CVS was. Next refill I will be transferring to another pharmacy until I find a good one. I would recommend to anyone to stay away from this pharmacy for at least 6 months to a year from when this review is posted to give them time to hit rock bottom and re-staff this location with a better people. In the meantime, it's just not worth the frustration of being dependent on employees who are not interested in doing their job. read more

I have had prescriptions with this pharmacy for probably 25 years, & have never received the ill treatment (from ANY business) like I just received from an unnamed (because it wasn't given) person on the phone for the pharmacy. I called to find out why a refill had been cancelled without me being notified & to find out what to do about it. She said it had been denied "by the doctor" via fax. The person seemed very agitated about any questions being asked about documentation. My biggest concern was not being notified of any denial. She seemed to take it personally and as I tried to ask questions, kept talking over me. She finally said that if I didn't like their policies (I never said that: I was asking questions), I "should go elsewhere" and hung up on me with the main issue of needing the med unresolved. The entire conversation was maybe 30-60 seconds long. Hostility from her went from 0 to 90 instantaneously. I probably will take her up on the suggestion to transfer my prescriptions elsewhere. read more

Do not use the pharmacy here, they are not good. It's a pain to get my brand name medication. If you do generic it can work for you but to do anything else it's the pits. I almost had to leave on Vacation without meds. I transferred to the Vons pharmacy that same day and they came through. The service it subpar too. They are definitely understaffed. read more

Do not buy gift cards from here. My wife bought a 100 amazon card that had been tampered and the numbers stolen and redeemed. The store told me to talk to Amazon directly even though they failed to protect the cards on the shelf from tampering. Hopefully Amazon will refund me. read more

I normally don't have the best experience at Walgreens My local Cypress location is awful and I stopped shopping there about a year ago. But on my way home from a client appointment, I needed to get something, so I stopped in to this Walgreens. I'm glad I did because it was the best experience I have had in a long time that had nothing to do with inventory or getting a great deal. It was solely because of the kindness of two store employees. First, was Desiree, who was walking the store and stopped to ask if I needed anything. I politely declined and kept shopping. I saw her again and this time needed her help. She guided me to the correct aisle with a friendly smile and went back to work. I saw her one more time as I was making my way to the front of the store and she said, "Checking in one last time before I go home. Do you need help with anything else?" I did not but Thacker her and wished her a good night. Then when I finally got to the register, Katie checked me out and was so nice and polite, I wondered if I was still on planet Earth!! Had I died and gone to Walgreens heaven?? These ladies absolutely made my night!! So often, great customer service is non existent. No one behind the counter greets you, let alone, greets you with a smile and wishes you a good night. I'll definitely come back! read more

One of their pharmacists, Julie was really nice. I have had a bunch of new medications lately, and very discouraged to take another one, but I had to take steroid for my current health problem. I have never taken steroid medication and bit scared though; she eased my feeling because she answered all my questions, and wrote me the instruction to take that medicine. I received an email saying my husband's prescription is delayed due to some insurance issues. The person who answered the call was very helpful. She listened to my problems and accepted my proposal to look into to my account because we have the same insurance. She agreed!!! Although, I had to wait on the phone for a bit(I belirve they were busy). She did come back to the line and helped me with the issue and said the meds will ne ready in 20 minutes. I visited several #walgreens throughout Long Beach, looking for my favorite lipstick. I stopped with my fingers crossed to check to see if my favorite lipstick was in stock. As I approached the cosmetic department I noticed where my lipstick should be, it stated ask for assistance. I'm very disappointed in this store. I'm 55 years old with gray hair. I went to this Walgreens as I have many times before to purchase cigarettes. This time the person would not sell them to me because I left my identification at home. He said that they needed to see the physical identification which is insane. I have gone on that store so many times that they just put a date in or they ask and I have forgot it before and they just ask me for my DOB. I guess they enjoy losing business because I'm never going into that store again. And trust me, I have Parkinson's Disease and I have a lot of medications that I get so their pharmacy and yes I'll be going to Rite Aid or CVS for my prescriptions. read more

Curbside fraud alert: After 2-3 nice experiences with curbside ordering and pickup, just had a Walgreens-hell experience. Waited 40 minutes outside for curbside that never appeared. Received an apology phone call later with an assurance I could pick my order up the next day. He then CHARGED my credit card and sent me a phony "thanks for picking up your order email". You can guess what happened next: went to curbside pick up my order - they claim they have no record of it. Did not give me my goods - still charged credit card. Another 30 minutes wasted. Tried calling national customer service line for help - call disconnected. This business is a disaster. read more

I don't usually review, but in this case I MUST. I always appreciated the pharmacy techs at this Walgreens. In general, I found them helpful and knowledgeable. Walgreens has a way for me to have a preferred manufacturer for generics. I didn't even know that was a thing until a tech told me! But I didn't realize just how special and helpful they were at THIS Walgreens until I moved to SF Bay Area. I've dealt with 2 different Walgreens up here to get refills. They are understaffed and consequently overworked, and wait times are horrible. It took me 10 minutes on the phone AFTER I got to a human, and 3 different people before I got the status of my Rx. The pharmacist told me when I request a manufacturer, I should ask when I have about a week's worth left and THEN looked to see I had already done that. They just never got back to me. I havnt been to a Walgreens in about a year. But was on break from work and decided to get a snack. I walked through and there was a sale on chips and I got a Perrier water. I went to pay and I put in my number and nothing came up but instead of asking me to sign up (which I would've done) for the discounts he asked me to put the number in a few times which i had tried 2 times so obviously I have to sign up again. I certainly won't pay an extra 3 dollars for chips with out the sale. So I had to walk out with out my snack. My question would be why couldn't I just sign up? I understand the cashier not putting in a back up number/card he may have at the register but why not have me sign up for the discount??? Definitely a location issue because I've never seen any store let alone a drug store not push a customer to sign up! So disappointed and disgusted! Long story short, after being told I might have been exposed, went to Walgreens on a Tuesday, where they offered drive-thru testing with results 2-3 day turn around. Well that was not the case. After swabbing, the young lady "Ruby" told me the results would take 3-5 days. There is a link to check to see if the lab they use has received your sample. Kept checking the site and finally called the lab on Saturday - They had no record. So I called Walgreens and the lady said they had a high turn around. I said shouldn't the lab have rec'd it after 3 days and she told me I would have to check with FedEx. Like I have the tracking #. What is the frustrating part is, my husband is undergoing treatment for cancer and had to cancel his infusion. Called week later and was told 80% of the samples taken on 10/26/21 had not been processed! Was told the box might have been lost - Seriously! Today, I checked the website and sample still has not been rec'd and Walgreens hasn't even bothered to reach out to inform me that it had been lost. Will probably follow-up with corporate and file a compliant, as our lives were placed on Hold and it was not fun. Saying sorry for the delay is unacceptable and I know I'm not the only one who experienced this on 10/26/21. read more

It was a older tanned skin lady, when she checked out my stuff, she then told me to hit the rewards button to sign up and i already signed up for the updated rewards already, I skipped it and needed to get back to work. Twice this pharmacy has shorted my prescription pills. It makes me very nervous to have someone who can not accurately count to 60, be in charge of putting the correct medication in the bottle as well. Twice I've been given partial prescriptions without being told it wasn't a full refill and had to go back a few days later. Well man. I'm sorry to say. I never leave reviews. Especially negative reviews. But this place was absolutely the worst service I've ever received from any pharmacy. I dealt with them for about 2 months. Every time I went there was some type of problem. And I'd have to come back later on. Then when I'd come back later on they tell me oh now you have to come back tomorrow. Several times I had to come back the next day. Bull "expletive" I have a pharmacy that I've used for years called Wagner pharmacy it's in orange county. Santa Ana well they deliver meds and if your out of their reach they mail you your meds over night. So you have them the next day. I decided to go back to that route. Simplecity at its best. No more oh can you drive around a while while we get your order ready when they automatedly called you 5 hours earlyer to say your prescriptions are ready for pick up . Evey single time. They weren't ready. When they called me to come pick them up. Lets just say there ain't nshstem in place that organizes what they are doing. It's a straight Quagmire.
