I've been wanting to try an establishment like this for a very long time. This was my first visit to My Zero Waste Store. Let me tell you, I was blown away. It's a small place - and street parking can be tricky. But I was fortunate to get a spot right out front. I stepped inside and saw the various containers of products and was pleased. Not only were there things that I use every day, but the prices were ridiculously affordable. Isela (theeee sweetest person) gave me a brief, but thorough "tour" that was absolutely fascinating. She answered any and all of my questions and provided me with a few donated containers for my purchase. So far, the star of this visit are the scented lotion and hand wash. Can't recall the name. But they are pricier than the other products. I don't care at all. I LOVE the scent. As a matter of fact, I'm going in this weekend for some more of the hand soap. I have it in my bathroom (foaming pump) and my kitchen (regular hand soap pump). I also diluted it to use as a shower gel. YES, doggone it!!! I'm kinda addicted! This is one of those places that you should actually do a personal field trip to. It will change your life. Believe it. Highly, highly recommended! UPDATE: I went back in for more hand soap concentrate and some retinol serum. By the way, soap and lotion brand name is "Further". Alyssa assisted me and she is an absolute DOLL. And I met her husband and best friend, who happened to be in the store. Simply delightful. I think this is going to be another one of my "happy" places. read more

This is a great store to get bulk products for cheap! Bring your own containers and it's even better! I got almost 22oz of body butter for $11! They sell everything from cleaning products, laundry, some bulk groceries (grains, oats, etc) and more. Definitely check it out. The staff will assist you with any questions you may have. read more

Went back for refills right before closing and was greeted by the sweetest girl who was so helpful and kind. Very pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back!! I paid for two full bottles of soap (body wash & shampoo), and 2 boxes of dishwasher tablets and it was $38. Great deal for clean and green products! read more

really really bad experience!!! they had items out, that looked like testers. I tried one and the woman informed me I had to buy what I tried there was no signs say no testers. The items were on a tray and not in a box!!!!! read more

Great refill store! They have donated glass jars for patrons that didn't bring any, as well as reused plastic bags! Happy to have one in Pasadena, as I've been looking into more alternate options to reduce waste. They have all kinds of items, including conditioner bars which have worked great. They have all kinds of items you can use to lessen plastics and waste in your bathroom and kitchen like wool dryer balls, detergent, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner bars, bee wax paper to use to store food, and so much more! Check their website for more items. I called to ask some questions, and they were incredibly knowledgeable and let me know everything I needed to know so you can tell they are passionate about zero waste. There's streetside parking alongside target, and I think there is parking lot next to the store itself- which I didn't see until I was driving past it, so there's that too I believe? I came in 10 minutes before they closed (mainly because I had to rush to work to catch them before they closed) and they were very nice and let me know I could take my time. I wasn't rushed at all and I was able to buy my conditioner bar with no problems! Will be back to try their other products! read more

5 stars for thought and concept / 2 stars if you are expecting on getting some solid advice... 5 stars because I think it's important for everyone to start reducing plastic waste so I very much appreciate this cute little shop! I, however, think girl who was working the day I visited needs to learn more about the products that they carry in the store as I was not able to buy my product of choice because she didn't know how to ring it up; I was charged for a different item that was more expensive; I was refunded separately but the incorrect amount (less than I should have gotten back). The store itself is great--they carry a lot of products that you can pick and choose between and there is more than just the items you can refill: like shampoo, conditioner, lotion etc.; they also have reusable containers, floss, the last tissue, the last swab and many more--a one stop shop! I had some questions as this was my first time visiting a refillery store and the girl working seemed kinda flustered: she was very nice, but maybe she usually doesn't get a lot of questions. First I asked if all of the products carried are cruelty free as that is very important to me and she was not sure, but made a guess. I wanted to try toothy tabs (my first time!) but she wasn't able to tell me about the products, what it is like using tabs, as again it is my first time, and instead just told me what was on the label after reading them, which I guess I could have done myself. I was looking at the huppy toothy tabs but she didn't know how to ring them up even though it said it was $5 per ounce, and it says it is $5 online on their website. I ended up going for the Nelsons Natural Toothpaste tablets which were pretty expensive ngl and extremely salty--like a meal in my mouth every morning and night that I just can't get used to. Wish I had known about this beforehand. Then I asked about which soap is best to make foaming soap at home and she didn't know either, which I was pretty disappointed about because we were in need of some foaming hand soap! I ended up leaving without it. I also noticed that when she filled up my container for shampoo, she dumped the excess back which I thought was a bit unsanitary as you don't know how well people wash their containers at home. Lastly, I was charged for a different item that I bought and when I asked for a refund, I didn't get the correct amount refunded to me. I just didn't bother with it, but I wish I said something at that moment. Overall, yes I think everyone should be visiting refillery stations as we all need to do our part to protect the planet, but I might either a) buy online so the prices are straight and there is no confusion around the products etc. and do my research beforehand or b) wait a little later when the workers are more knowledgeable about the products being sold. read more

Visited My Zero Waste Store for the first time yesterday and had a wonderful experience! The staff member working yesterday was very friendly and helpful. I went in to refill my hand soap and the staff member (sorry didn't get name!) showed me their selection (and gave me a smell test!). Once I selected the one I wanted they refilled the bottle for me while I got to look around for the first time. The shop is very clean, organized and the vibes with the music made it a relaxing and calm experience. I plan to return to refill other products and try out new products as well. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at MyZeroWasteStore. I've been to a couple of refill stores in Silver Lake/Eagle Rock area. This is the first store that I've found to carry household staples, such as hydrogen peroxide and alcohol. The staff was super friendly. They just seem to be excited to be part of the reduce plastics movement. The staff refills everything for you at the counter. It is so much easier than trying to pump the refills into a large bottle. I got my usuals: jojoba oils, witch hazel, aloe gel, lotion, shampoo. The lavender facial cleanser is very nice. It doesn't dry out my skin and it smells nice. In other refill stores, where I do everything myself, but I get confronted with tip request at check out. Hmmm?? The staff did everything for me, but I didn't get asked for a tip here. The irony. The location is actually very convenient. It is near the Playhouse, just off Colorado, where there is usually no parking, but if you just drive south a couple of blocks on El Molino, there's plenty of street parking on Cordova. read more

I'm so glad that we have this option here in Pasadena. Picked up shampoo using an emptied out/old bottle. Love the new shampoo I bought there. Price was good. What's even better than the price was that I didn't need to add one more thing to the landfill. Little steps. Hoping to continue with thanking many more little steps. read more

It's great to have a zero-waste refill store in this part of town! Better yet that their refillable 55-gallon drums are also reused, and that you can bring your own container for anything and everything - nothing to trash at home. Thank you, Cheryl! The owner of this store started it because she wanted to do something about the plastics crisis and she has created a wonderful store and community resource. The store sells beautiful products, offers creative ideas about how we all can reduce waste, and is educating buyers about the myth of recycling, the ways plastic waste contributes to climate change, and how we can all help in our own small ways to reduce waste and live in a more sustainable manner. The products are great; I love my bamboo toothbrushes, wooden vegetable scrubbers, and plastic-free laundry detergent. The goat's milk lotion is fantastic and comes in glass! I also love going into the store and chatting with the staff about new products, while also learning about developments in local and state politics that relate to the environment. I happen to find the staff extremely helpful and friendly and am mystified by one of the comments below. But that isn't the main point, is it? We all need to do our part to save the precarious planet, and this is a store devoted to that end. I love this store and encourage all my friends to check it out. read more

My wife and I came in today excited to shop around. My wife entered the store first two associates were in the store no one greeted. My wife excited to visit the store and shop happily said hello how are you? the man in front of the desk register hesitantly greeted in a very unpleasant manner. I now understand why this store is always empty ...... instead of helping the customers the entire store culture seems rather cold, bland and uncomfortable over all if only the employees were helpful ...... and welcoming maybe it would attract more foot traffic I doubt will be returning to our local refills store as we would love to support local and small ...... unfortunately this store left a bad impression read more

My husband and I are eliminating as much plastic as we can from our home and lives. I had ordered sustainably made dish soap from several vendors in the past but was looking for more options/choices. I live in No. CA and Ban Sup Refill is in So CA but I thought I'd give this shop a try. WOW! We are thrilled with the product and the service. We ordered the extra large size, which cost more at purchase. But, over time, the soap is less expensive than ordering several smaller bars. Shipping costs, when adjusted by the store, were reasonable and in line with what I paid at other sites. The soap was not packaged in plastic and everything was recyclable. YAY!!! We cut the large bar into four blocks. It works perfectly - lots of suds with a minimal amount of soap and it cleans really well. We will purchase from this store again when we need to replenish our dish soap. read more

This place is just the best for cleaning, beauty, and organizing products without plastic. Their refill services are employee-assisted, but they have many individually (eco) packaged items to skip assistance. Their dry goods section is spare but thoughtful, and I got nearly everything I needed... I'm going to break my review into two. First for the store itself. LOVE IT and would give it 5 stars! There is such a need for more like it if we are going to actually do something about trash and climate change. I'm happy it's here to support me in my personal journey to zero waste. Specifically the assortment of cleaning and body care products and refills are great! It also feels good to give my support to a local business. The here's part two...unfortunately. The last two times I've been there's been one employee working (younger female with glasses) and I'd give negative stars if I could. She is not helpful or friendly at all. No hello or acknowledgment of any kind. Which is SUPER awkward because it's a small store so at max you're 10 feet away from each other. Also, the store has a bunch of little odds and ends which someone may need help navigating. The second time there were three different parties of customers. One customer literally waiting right by her with an obvious question but ZERO acknowledgement while she continued to talk to the other customer (who wasn't buying anything). The person waiting had to interrupt to ask their question and once the answer was given the employee went right back into their previous conversation. The best part was the conversation was around other local eco stores and what they do "better". The friend I brought with me to check the store out was super put off by the entire interaction. I've met the store owner once and she was so lovely and knowledgeable to chat with! I will continue coming here because it's convenient and supports my mission but I feel it's so important to share how the service is because it can make or break a business. I want this place to succeed so much and hope in the future to have a better customer experience that matches the offerings of the store. read more
