It's expensive. And you'll probably have to wait a while. But don't take that out on AFC Urgent Care - that's the fault of the American healthcare system. As far as the things that these folks CAN control - they do it well. My husband and I walked-in for his persistent sweats, fever, and developing cough. Dr. Becca ran comprehensive yet reasonable tests to help determine the root cause. Even though one of the swabs wouldn't be able to give a definitive answer in 2 days, she made logical guesses as to how to treat his condition and prescribed cost-effective and efficacious antibiotics. After the fact, she was able to confirm her diagnosis with help from the radiologist. Good folks here doing the best they can. Thanks for helping my husband to feel better, Dr. Becca. read more

This urgent care visit was a nightmare. The staff clearly had no clue how to handle a DOT physical exam , made me wait forever, and then rushed the actual exam. The provider didn't explain anything, No professionalism, no empathy, and zero understanding of how important this exam is for someone's job. I have been coming here for my DOT physical every year or so for the past 10 years. Even though I have to drive all the way from Gig Harbor and pay a toll these professionals make the experience pleasant and timely. Walked in for a drug test, and went to the counter. I noticed a sign that told me to email my drug test authorization form to them if I didn't have it printed out. So I confirmed with the receptionist that that was all I needed to do, but she didn't bother looking up from her computer, and just shook her head slowly up and down. So I assumed it was an easy yes, emailed the form on the spot, and walked to my seat. Over 30 minutes goes by, and people coming in after me are being seen. So I decide to "confirm" that they received my form and that I was checked in. I asked "hey I just wanted to make sure I was checked in and you guys received my email." The front desk girl said "you were supposed to wait at the counter." And THEN proceeded to ask for my ID and check me in... so here I am for over an hour now, still waiting on a simple drug test that could've been done. If you don't like your job, QUIT. Don't stay and spread your misery to your customers. She couldn't tell me that when I was asking about the checking in procedures? You couldn't tell me when I was standing there for 3 minutes emailing the form? You couldn't tell me when I walked away to take my seat? She really watched me take a seat and wait for almost 40 minutes knowing I wasn't checked in yet. If people are supposed to wait at the counter after emailing their forms, TELL THEM. Or post it! The notice you guys posted says to just email and once received, you are checked in and to not leave. read more

Not sure why people are so upset here. Took my daughter in today die to concerns about a possible infection due to her scratching at the poison ivy spots on her leg. Front staff saw her leg and pulled her back right away. Provider determined it wasn't infected yet (and encouraged the treatment we've been using) - and sent us on our way without incident. Fast, easy, friendly, pleasant. I've worked an urgent care and consistently people aren't happy unless they are prioritized and coddled. read more

Horrible experience. Won't ever go back. Went in for a rash on my face and Dr. Likens was great, however, the rest of the staff, very poor experience. The Pharmacy had a simple question on my prescription (gel vs. cream), and it took 2-1/2 days, 4 phone calls from me with no response, 3 emails from the pharmacy with no response, 2 more phone calls from pharmacy to get them to answer as my rash spread and took over my face!!. Nooooo-one seemed to care. The 2nd doctor that finally replied to the pharmacy gave another prescription that apparently did not even exist (it made me feel like they were just pulling a bunny out of the hat to get me off their list of to do's). More run around, more calls, more waiting, and still no prescription - something that should be so simple. Horrible every time I called or the pharmacy and tried to get an answer or reply. Finally, after 2 hours in pharmacy line and on the phone with urgent care, going to even another pharmacy, I got someone in the pharmacy to stay on the phone and demand a physician and get me some cream to soothe and heal my face rash. Gheesh !!! Horrible, horrible, horrible !! Dr Likens good... other staff absolutely NOT! Will never go back there again. read more

The front-end girl Christine was absolutely horrible when I called the clinic for a minor error I found ON my document. When I arrived, Christine was upset and Mumbling SOMETHING I couldn't hear. The other girl helped me with a smile and a welcoming face and apologize for the crazy day they have. Overall, all the other staff was amazing and helpful, but with Christine's attitude and horrible customer service, I will not go there ever AGAIN.  This is a small clinic that is supposed to welcome people with happiness and a welcoming face. No one wants horrible customer service when this is a clinic and sick people are visiting. I hope her manager or person in charge reads this. Christine is a bad apple and she needs to be corrected before she destroys the clinic's reputation. read more

I was at the AFC American Family care - Urgent Care in Kent, WA today, 10/20/2023 at 1:50pm and received very bad customer service from the front desk and especially from Patty. When I asked to talk to manager, she said that she is the director of the location and I can only speak with her. I went for a Covid test, was asked to come inside and swab myself for the test, then go wait in my car for 10minutes for the results. Mind you, this is an urgent care, shouldn't they swab me? Wondering what's the difference between free home test and their test where in both cases I have to swab myself! Either way, I went to my car and waited patiently. 20 minutes later I go inside and I asked for the result and they told me it's negative. I asked for a copy of the results and they said they'd email me. An hour later I called and they said they're working on them as we speak and they will send them to me. It's now 7:40 pm and I still don't have a copy of the results. Horrible customer service and healthcare assistance. I do NOT recommend going there at all. Not sure what they are going to build my insurance and for what service when they literally did not do anything for me today, I had to do the COVID test myself. read more

Checked in @ 10:10 for a drug screen. I didn't get called up until 11:35. The MA was troubleshooting with IT support for about 10 minutes until I was able to receive my paperwork. She wasn't able to confirm my drug screen information because of a technical error. Staff is great, but the problem I see here is technical issues that they're having with employer drug screen processing. read more

Service was quick, the staff were friendly and helpful, and PA-C Ashley Rodrigue demonstrated both competence and caring! I went to this American Family Care (AFC) urgent care location after being involved in a rear-end collision earlier that day. Wanting a medical evaluation, I looked up urgent care locations near me and chose AFC based on its overwhelmingly positive reviews on Google. When I arrived, I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. I had barely finished and turned in my paperwork before I was called back. After another short wait in an exam room, Ashley Rodrigue, a certified physician assistant (PA-C), came in to evaluate me. Rodrigue was thorough in her work. She listened to and took all of my questions and concerns seriously. She gave comprehensive explanations of what I was experiencing or could experience later on and how to best promote recovery. Most notably, her professional competence was matched by genuine caring. My visit to AFC (filling out the paperwork, waiting to be called back, being seen by Ashley Rodrigue, and getting the discharge summary) took just under an hour, which I consider phenomenal. I left feeling validated and at ease with my medical situation following the car accident. I was in the Seattle area on business, but if I lived there, AFC would be my preferred (and recommended) urgent care! I only hope to find a comparable urgent care where I live, should I need one. read more

I got a fast covid PCR test because I pretend to travel to Canada, so I got a test in AFC Urgent Care Southcenter; the service was just good, I arrived 5 minutes before, but I was attended 15 minutes after the appointment time. When I got my result, it was positive, which shocked me because I had other 2 tests gotten in the last week, both negative I also had covid 45 days before, so it was weird. Then I got a new PCR covid test the next day in a different lab, and it was negative, so I have 3 negatives and just AFC Urgent positive, I am not sure what the problem was, but it definitely affected my travel plans. read more

4-10-16 Wish there were negative stars I do not suggest going to AFC Doctor Express in Kent (South Center). My son has huge tonsils and a sinus issue, but because he is not crying in pain there is nothing wrong with him. I told them the last time this happened they took a strep test it came back negative and then once they cultured it it came back positive but of course this time we were at the ER (two ERs Highline who sent him to Swedish cause it was so bad) getting strong medicine. This doctor refused medicine and won't send for a culture. I am ticked off, because my son has a high pain tolerance they won't listen to me!! He let a little hiss out and said ohhhh well, he needs strong antibiotics and his tonsils removed as soon as the antibiotics are done. I know next time I will not take him or anyone else to this Urgent Care and just go to Highline ER or their doctors. read more

I had an infection in my tooth on Memorial Day. It was hard to find a place that was open and in-network. The only one, was down in Kent (I live in Seattle) - AFC URGENT CARE. The fact that they were the only one open is why I gave 1 star, otherwise no stars. That's the best I could say. The nurse/med assistant who took me in was NOT wearing a mask. When I told her that I didn't feel comfortable, she said 'Oh, I was just going to put it on.' Once in the examining room, she took vitals, etc, and said that doctor would be in shortly. Five minutes later, she came in and said, 'sorry, I forgot to take your temperature'! Finally, a PA came in and I told her that I needed antibiotics for my infection until I could see a dentist. She agreed and wrote out a prescription, and I was out the door in a matter of minutes. Today (7/7/20) I received the bill. $220 of which my insurance company (UHC) paid $180, leaving me with a 'cost sharing' fee of $40. No 'co-pay' but a 'cost sharing' charge. WTF! I would recommend you ONLY go there if it's a holiday and everything else is closed. Even then, be careful and be prepared to be over charged. read more

Made sure I drank enough water to go! So I submitted my paper work and waited 45 mins then I walked up and asked how much longer cause I can't hold it and she was like 15 mins I said do you mind if I just use the restroom cause I have to go she goes 15 mins very rudely! I called them confused and the receptionist answered and rudely asked what my appointment was for (asthma medication refill). When I told her, she responded, "we don't cover those kinds of things and we're closing early." Get it together. You guys clearly lack professionalism and organization. Called on Monday to see if I needed an appointment for my work physical and drug test. They told me no appointments and they stop seeing patients after 5pm. I showed up at 4pm the next day and they turned me away because they stop drug testing at 2pm. Would have been nice to know since I live over an hour away and my job only uses this company. The front desk person made me an appointment for the following day at 9am with text message system and I show up today and they say they don't do appointments. Currently waiting in the lobby waiting half an hour after my appointment time. I will be calling the company who had me use AFC and submit formal complaints as my time as gas money has been wasted. read more

7-21-17 came here with my husband so that he could complete his pre employment physical. (would have picked somewhere closer if it wasn't that the employer sent us here.) We called earlier in the day to make sure they would be able to take us when I was off of work. They said no problem they were open until 8pm. We walked in at 5:33pm. The front desk was immediately HORRIBLE! The receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional. Told us that they couldn't do the drug test because they stopped doing them at 5pm and that we should probably wait to do the rest of it too. No smile, no welcome, nothing! Three women sat at the front desk like we were wasting their time and clearly not doing any work! Fast forward, my husband is in the room and I'm in the waiting room. Both the receptionist and MA are sitting at the front desk BOTH ON CELL PHONES!! At one point the receptionist even made a personal phone call and I could clearly hear her talking. No result given from Covid Test! My daughter went to AFC Urgent Care for a Covid test so she could fly to Hawaii to get her things from her dorm at UH. She got the test, paid $150. They NEVER provided a result! We called a number of times that afternoon, and all day the next day. The phones didn't pick up and didn't allow messages to be left. I e-mailed, tried to contact the parent company. There was simply no way to get through. She will have to cancel her flight. Is this even a real clinic? read more

WORST URGENT CARE EVER! Please read the entire post and save yourself!!!!! I would give negative 10 starts if I could! If you're considering going here, RECONSIDER!! I went in to see someone due to symptoms I was having. I had unquenchable thirst (Drinking about 25 bottles of 16.9 fl oz water a day), excessive urination (using bathroom about 30 times during the day, and about 15 times during the night), complete loss of energy, blurry vision within a matter of a week or so, and other symptoms. When I came in, the receptionists weren't very welcoming. Just had me sign the form and told me to have a seat. I waited about 20 minutes with not a single patient being there. When I got to see the doctor, I asked him about these issues. His advice was the absolute worst I've ever heard. He told me to drink less water, and that would lead to me using the restroom less. Thats the only issue he acknowledged. How am I supposed to drink less water if my body is literally being dehydrated ? He kept walking towards the door and had it opened several times while I was asking other questions. He seemed as if he just wanted to get out of that room with me. Anyways, I paid the ridiculous $175 fee for that stupid advise and went back to work. 2 weeks or so later, I ended up in the hospital and was diagnosed with Type one Diabetes. The nurses and doctors at Harborview Hospital were in disbelief as I am in shape, have a healthy diet, exercise routinely, and have a healthy lifestyle. I do not drink alcohol, no history of drugs, or any bad habits. Not a single blood relative of mine have ever had diabetes, which led to more confusion from the doctors. Anyways, My blood sugar was well over 600. My entire family was scared for my life as I should have been in a diabetic coma. Doctors told me if I waited any longer, it would have been much more severe. The doctors took a lot of blood samples, did a whole bunch of different tests on me, and told me that all of the symptoms I've been having for the past few months was due to pre-diabetes. If the doctor at the urgent care had just checked my glucose level, I would have known that I was pre-diabetic and would have adjusted my life even more to try to get this fixed. It literally would have taken the doctor a mere 30 seconds to check my glucose levels, but he was "too busy" to tend to my issues. This is malpractice. I do not have health insurance, so I had to pay the stupid $175 fee at the urgent care, got stuck with nearly a $7,000 bill from the hospital, more from the physicians, and on top of that, I have to spend thousands on medication, doctors visits, and more. We went to urgent care to try and save some money and get some knowledge as to why these symptoms were happening, and ended up in debt due to the malpractice of these so called "doctors". Due to this clinic, I now have to live with a chronic illness for the rest of my life, and I'm only 24 years young. All could have been avoided if the doctor did his job! I will be seeking legal representation in order to make sure this never happens to anyone else! read more

I had Dr. Le and he listened to my symptoms and followed up with a prescription that relieved me of my stomach aches. He also went the extra mile in explaining to me what the medicine he was prescribing and offered a cheaper alternative. I was in and out quickly with my medical issue addressed. So ive had to go there twice in the last month for two unrelated injuries (more just checking to make sure its not serious kinda thing) the firat time was for a wrist injury. They brought me in and had xrays taken. Dr. Le says it looks great the bones arent broken just ice and ibuprofen. No need for a brace or an ace bandage or anything, let it move on its own. Ok so i leave and eventually get a bill from them for an 11 dollar ace bandage that they didnt even give me and said i didnt need. Next visit, i was pretty sure i dislocated my toe, but just wanted to be sure. Went in, waited (i know that thats what you do at urgent care), waited some more. Finally get seen, taken back get xrays, dr. Piet (?) Says its not broke youll be fine you can ice and heat if it still hurts in a week come back. So today i get a call from the pharmacy saying my prescriptions ready? What prescription you may ask (cause i sure did) apparently the dr ordered a medication for me but neglected to tell me about it. I dont think i will be going back there if i can help it. read more

Went here for the first time yesterday. I didn't have the same experience as the other reviews when it came to waiting. Once I filled out my registration form, I was instantly seen. Everything was quick and simple. Overall it seemed like I was there for only 15 mins, which is great! My only criticism is that all of the workers seemed like zombies. No emotions, can't even crack a smile, all monotone. I'm not asking them to be my friend or anything, but at least be personable. read more

I had an excellent experience at Doctor's Express. I ended up here because my regular doctor didn't have an opening in their schedule for several days out. I felt very welcome from the moment I walked in the door! The employees are very friendly and helpful, and the place is squeaky clean. It took about 10 mins to see a doctor after I filled out my paperwork. I saw Dr. Piatt. He was very easy to talk with, extremely knowledgeable, & informative. I feel like the doctors and nurses here truly care, and I think that's what really sets this clinic apart from the rest. Also, the facility is open 8am-8pm EVERY DAY. I will absolutely be back. I don't know any other place where it takes 30-60 mins from the time you get there to the time you leave. Plus, I like Dr. Piatt more than my regular doctor. read more

I had a fever and cough, it was such a pain to wait, and all they were saying is 'your next', doctor is with the another patient and so on... Had to come by because we were between insurance and our little one seemed pretty ill. $125 just to be seen. Facilities were clean and up-to-date, and the receptionist was nice. Very short wait, which was good. The focus on getting your payment (and keeping your drivers license until the end of the appointment) made it feel transactional and cold. Doctor seemed a little bored and not warm to the little one. Didn't really physically check up on the little one much and didn't come to a conclusive answer. Was fast to write a prescription for antibiotics but I was hesitant to fill it as some doctors are hasty to hand out the antibiotics prescription. Good thing I didn't because it turned out to be really bad teething causing all the symptoms. Too bad he didn't bother checking my baby's mouth. DO NOT GO HERE! I was misdiagnosed twice. First time was 2 years ago, I had foot pain. The doctor took an xray and said it was broken. After that medical bill, I was referred to and seen a podiatrist. The podiatrist said he did not see any break what so ever, and that I did not need to see him (and paid that medical bill). Second time was last week. I sustained an injury to my achilles tendon area during a softball game. The front staff was very nice and the kind lady who did my x-rays was super sweet. The doctor came in and tried moving my foot around and feeling my ankle for pain. Twice I explained that the pain wasn't in my ankle. She did not listen. She said there was no break and that it's sprained. I again explained that I was concerned about my achilles tendon area. She continued to tell me nothing serious was wrong and that "if something was torn around my achilles, it would be swollen" and apparently it wasn't swollen enough. She told me to go home, ice and take Tylenol. I just didn't believe that there was nothing wrong. I decided to go to the ER and after just a few minutes of the doctor feeling my achilles area, he said he was 95% sure it was torn. We had x-rays done there and although they don't typically show tendons, you may be able to see a shadow. He said the tear was so bad he could see it on the xray. I finally left the ER with the diagnoses of a ruptured achilles tendon and had surgery just a few days ago. I'm so glad I didn't listen to the doctor at this place. She spent less than 1 minute in my room, refused to listen to me and rushed me out. Had I listened to her, I'd be at home in pain and agony with a ruptured achilles and inability to walk. The ER and Orthopedic doctors said that if I didn't get the medical attention that night, I could have caused much further damage. I am so disappointed with my experiences as this location. Again, the front staff is super nice. But the doctors and/or PA's really need some help. I would not suggest this to anyone looking for immediate/urgent care. read more
