After calling out from work, I looked around online and saw the minute clinic near me. They open up at 8:30 am and seem to close around 7-7:30 pm, with an hour closed for lunch (2 pm). Weekend hours are a bit shorter but I think they're open 7 days a week. Booked my appointment online, only had to wait about 10 minutes tops after arriving and checking in. After booking, you'll get texted/emailed a code, just type that in at the kiosk in the store and give them a few other pieces of info/sign crap, and you're good to go. It's located just off the pharmacy to the side, so you'll get to stare at the people waiting in the ridiculous pharmacy line while you wait! The provider (sadly I didn't get her name) was awesome. She did NOT order any unnecessary tests, especially knowing I was uninsured. She took the time to walk me over and get something OTC to help me out. I really appreciated that. I got my diagnosis without the ridiculous ER or walk-in clinic bill. In fact, minute clinic posts their prices online, so no big surprises if you're paying cash. I'd go here for any non-emergency if I couldn't see my PCP, or didn't have insurance. Heck, I'd still go back once insurance kicks in for simple stuff. I wish they had more of these and more providers like the one I saw today.

My little one is only 4 so I had to make a few calls to find an alternative place that would give her a the shot. CVS was my answer. We arrived mid-week late in the afternoon. After an annoyingly long check in process we were called in after just a few minutes wait. Dr "Flo" was awesome! She was super sweet an knew just how to interact with a small kid. My daughter barely flinched when getting the shot and Dr Flo gave my little a fun band aide and a sticker. I think I'll just skip the pediatrician and come see Dr Flo for next years shot too!

In addition to three tests (Flu, Covid, and Strep), which all came out negative, she checked my lungs, my lymph nodes, etc. etc. She took the time to explain (and print out) what things I had been doing that I should continue, what I should change (and why). She also wrote out a scrip for an anti-biotic, for me to use just in case the new treatments do not have any effect after two more days. She even sent a scrip to my regular pharmacy for some things that are available over the counter, in case that would help me to get them with prescription coverage. So, overall: a great experience while I was feeling pretty crummy. She was professional and empathic. Much more than at urgent care locations, such as Carbon Health. My new go to plan will be to avoid "urgent care" places and go to CVS minute clinics instead.

I say this to say, I needed a particular vaccination and had a very hard time receiving it. My primary care did carry it, and did not provide outside help to me at all. I went to Walgreens and my insurance denied the vaccination because it was from a pharmacy(at this point I'm furious) I proceeded to call the insurance and asked for an override(DENIED) Lastly I got on Dr. Google, and WALAH like magic I found City Life!!!! The staff was polite, the place was very clean, the wait was minimal, and the process was smooth. The dr. even informed me of an ear infection that I thought I may has. I brought my daughter here while on vacation in the area. They do not tell you that the only…read moremedical provider on staff is a physician's assistant, not a doctor. We waited over an hour to be seen by him for a 5-minute appointment where he examined my daughter's ear and determined she had an ear infection, which was obvious from her symptoms. However my issue isn't with the PA, he was friendly and competent. My issue is that I was charged $415 for this visit and was sent a bill prior to getting any adjustments from my insurance company (which is in-network). This charge is beyond any reasonable and customary charge for a 5-minute total appointment with a PA. After adjustments from my insurance the bill is $250 -- still far out of line with my own pediatrician's rates. I was directed to an online payment system that charges an additional $5 service fee for paying my bill. I will NEVER return to this office for the misleading website (which carefully uses the word "provider" instead of doctor so you don't realize until you get there who you are seeing) and for the price-gouging billing far out of line of standard rates.

If you have HMO insurance please communicate with your insurance provider prior to each visit because the system tends to somehow 'change your PCP'. If you stop in for a referral for a specialist, be sure they do not provide you with an expired referral number. Also be sure they don't overcharge you if you have a copay. Know how much your copay is going in. COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR INSURANCE PROVIDER before stepping foot in here because again, they will schedule your appointment and wait until you arrive to tell you information is missing and you can't be seen. I came around personally and without a good morning or proper greeting, they just stuck their hand out with the new order. I inquired about a potential appointment to one person, another lady from the side said "you will have to sit down and wait. There are 2 patients a head of you". I'm 150% okay with waiting, but be a little more welcoming. Not sure how was their day going, but I'm sure mine didn't have to get screwed up because of yours.
