I went to Atlantic Care Express in Berlin and the staff was amazing. I ended up needing to be given steroids to help the swelling in my throat go down so that I could breathe. I was so embarrassed and uncomfortable, I did not feel safe. This was not the first time I've received attitude upon entering this place, I will not be returning for any medical emergencies.

I didn't imagine that I would stay in a hospital for the next five weeks. Not saying goodbye to my cats was one of the hardest things. For more than a month, not seeing any animals was so hard because I am a huge animal lover. But when I gave birth, my daughter's nurse told me that there was a dog at the hospital that could visit me. And then that afternoon, Bean came to me. I was crying from excitement and happiness; other than giving birth, that was the best feeling ever. She was so sweet and gentle, and just petting her was the most wonderful feeling. Every person in the hospital who loves animals knows that having a dog visit you in such difficult moments means everything to you. Mrs. Katelynn was so thoughtful and amazing; she brought Bean again to see me and she wrote me and my daughter the most beautiful card. Having preeclampsia and my baby coming so early because of that was very difficult, but having that little dog there meant the world to me. I will forever be grateful for the time we spent together. I have a little sticker with Bean's face on my fridge, and whenever I look at it, I remember how happy I was when she was with me. Visiting Paws and Bean is the crucial thing for anyone struggling and just wanting to have a normal feeling about life outside of the hospital. T.St.
