Passed my test! This was my second time taking it and I wish I would've found AFFINITY before I took my first test. The format in which it's structured helps so much. There's lessons, videos, practice exams , pdf's , flashcards, tips ( All in audio and pdf version), and the teacher going over lessons. I only used compu cram for he first time and scored a 74%. Anyway, I purchased this course after and studied for a little over two weeks. Went over flashcards multiple times and made sure all my practice exams scored over 95% (there's 15). This course really helps you understand the concepts and how to apply them. Anyway, please please go with this prep exam course if you want to PASS the test. Good luck :) !!!! read more

I took one year to relax because of new job. I'm currently 7 months pregnant, and English isn't my first language too . I took all my PTO and purchased this program before Christmas to study. Make sure you listen to the 4 hours video multiple times and take note, also read over and over the 800 keys facts. The and time you spend on keeping retake this exam is more than purchased the program. I took the exam at the test center because I knew they are going to give me a calculator, pen and paper for the exam. Wanting to pass the NMLS, I signed up for what I THOUGHT was the 20 hour pre licensing course, but was actually the exam prep course. Which worked- I passed the test! I had to subsequently pay full price for the correct 20 hour pre-licensing course. Largely my fault, but I do wish a) the course I was signing up for had been clearer that it was not the 20 hour pre-licensing course, and b) they had worked with me on the price. I would have given a 5 star review but basing the 4 star on the last online chat convo I just had with an affinity chat rep. Long story short - I purchased the 20hr + mastery exam prep combo and it claims the NMLS processing fee of $30.00 is included. Well, I was in the process of applying for my license on the NMLS site and when it's generated my invoice of charges, it's charging me the $30.00 processing fee. $30 dollars is $30 dollars, and not to mention, the combo isn't cheap! The chat rep simply sent me a screenshot of the fee. Which I have no clue what it means, is their internal information. I asked how do I have it credited on NMLS. The rep gave me the NMLS contact info and closed the chat. That's HORRIBLE!!! Especially for us new people in the mortgage industry. It's frustrating and unprofessional. Anyhow - the education and exam prep was great! I would recommend it! I passed my state exam with 80%! I'll just be paying th fee myself. My experience with Affinity MLO training program was horrific especially considering that I am a person of color as is the founder of this program, Articia. Please allow me to start from the beginning: I found her Facebook group as I was looking for the best MLO program to take and was directed by everyone in the group to Artricia's program. I was also instructed by a group member to call into the 800# to request a bundle deal which includes the class and the master prep course. I spoke to her mother Shirley, which was initially a pleasant conversation and sure enough, I got the bundle deal. That following Monday, I was to start my course. Sunday night, I had not received any updates via email so I posted in the group asking about course expectations, start dates and times. Articia or no moderator answered me, I got a few conflicting responses. Monday morning I received one email with log in info so I go to the site as instructed and the login didn't work. I called in and spoke to Laura I believe, politely explained that I couldn't log in and was told "Well, apparently, you didn't check your email." I was shocked by this uncalled abrasive ness and was told that I was being argumentative. Not to mention hung up on. I then texted Shirley who called me back and verbally gave me my login information. The course information itself was very poorly constructed. During her 2-5 min videos, she kept clearing her throat, saying the wrong information and accidentally switching slides. As someone who has previous underwriter and loan processing experience, this program doesn't really teach you the information it just tries to focus on what's on the test but in all honesty, the pre licensing course is designed to be rushed through so you are purposely unprepared and forced to purchase the master prep program. The master prep program is the exact information in the pre licensure course but drawn out and repetitive. Honestly not worth $600. Another instance was were I was told I had 3 months to access both programs but then sent an email saying that I had a deadline in June to complete the program and I signed up in July. And in trying to resolve that issue, I was met with more disrespect which included being yelled at, spoken over, denied my request to speak to Articia directly by being flat out told no and blamed for their disorganization. Out of frustration and hopes to rush me off the phone, Shirley offered a full refund (for both programs) after I finished my course and I agreed. She assured she would text me with an accurate end date since I was told June instead of August. Once she texted she said it was my mistake and I explained that there has been a series of unnecessary errors not to mention the abrasive way Artricia responds to certain people in her group when asking clarifying questions on a contradicting spade and it's information. I tried to reiterate that I am very supportive of her business but the way that I was being treated and spoken to was unacceptable at this point considering that there were so many different instances where I was betrayed and talked down to for utilizing the services and materials advertised. Shortly after this phone call (roughly 15 mins later) I received a text stating, "Also know that mostly Black people who makeup less than 10 percent of our business are the ones who give us the less respect and the most problems. I offered to help you and I apologized several times. You just wanted to be YOU because I am a Black Woman. You could not graciously accept an apology...." (I have attached the text message) This is where it is runacceptable and now breaking many discrimination laws. And I will leave it at that. I still have not received the refund I was promised so I will be escalating this issue to all relevant organizations including the NMLS. If I do not receive my full refund, I will be filing a discrimination suit. Please beware of this bait and switch program. UPDATE: I received less than half of the refund that I was promised. Considering my horrible experience I not only feel like I deserve the full amount but at the very least half of what the bundle price is. I promise they are extremely money hungry and did the bare minimum to keep their PayPal open. Looks like I will be escalating this issue legally. read more

I found Trisha Woods on YOUTUBE--the training was in clear English and didn't put me to sleep. I reached out to Affinity when they either were able to close or almost cleared: Vicky answered. She says, if you want to start the next training, I can still try to get you in (as the cutoff time I believe was that day and I would have to start the next day). She worked overtime, she reached out to who handles the education and got me in. She told me exactly what I needed to do to get my NMLS #. The education videos were fabulous! I actually looked forward to the classes. I love how they were in 5 minute increments--who did their research?! I think that method helped me to retain more information! Everything was so well-thought-out, well-planned, easy to use: everything from the online classes, to the physical books, and flash cards--Highly recommend you sign up both for online course, crash course, get the physical books for both plus flash cards!!! Wow, all the modalities worked in concert, overlapping to re-enforce pertinent information!!!! I studied and went over all the materials, the online audio flash cards--brilliant!!! Helped me so much! There is a lot of information to retain but if you do exactly what I said--do the entire program, you will be calm the day you take the test!!!! I passed with 80% and I give God thanks and Praise!!! UNPARALLEL MASTERY COURSE PERIOD I couldn't do this without Artricia at all. Two things that kept me on my toes from the course: 1. "Know why the answer is the answer" in Artricia's voice. 2. "Until you score 90 don't move to the next practice test" in Artricia's voice Once I got those two under control I started feeling comfortable. With Gods help and Artricia's material and help, the impossible became possible. By the way I reviewed all her material at least 3-4 times. I studied the past two months averaging 8-10 hrs a day, because on my first try I failed because I didn't follow 50% of Artricia's advice which cost me another extra month of studying. Mother, daughter team teach the class. The mom is very difficult. If you ask a question or point out where they are wrong she will belittle you. The 2nd day of class she the mom didn't show up which actually was a relief. My wife is a MLO for 20 yrs and when I did the practice tests with her we found several of their answers to the practice questions to be incorrect. I studied for 2 weeks after their class before I took the class and didn't pass the test. I felt like they did not prepare me at all for the test. I took the nmls required 20 hour class and the prep course last year. I past the test after individual self study of about 40 days. i had a full time job and family responsibilities, so i studied until i felt comfortable taking the test. i passed the first time with an 83%. I went to a 'lunch and learn' and paid for the 20 hour course on the spot...i wanted to go to the facility and pick up my course materials right then, but I had to wait till the day of the class. I should knock down a point cause the lady at the office told me to wait...I wanted to prep for the 20 hour course because I have no background in this stuff....During the 20 hour class, i was just overwhelmed and nervous and my brain itched...I was litterally being bombarded with concepts and laws i had no previous knowledge about. i felt like the firehose was being turned on me. The other 1/2 day class was much easier to digest. overall a great experience...The test itself is hard. Don't take it forgranted...and dont even think about taking the test until you are good and ready...If you wanna do the nmls class on your own, Affinity is place to do it. If you begin working in the industry you will hear many people refer to Articia, or Affinity or pass around her prep materials...hands down, there is no better option. So that's my review of the class...im going to go into my review of the mortgage biz below...it has NOTHING to do with Affinity or Articia's product. By the time i took Articia's course i had been working as a mechanical engineer for over 20 years. I have a rental property, and i wanted to get out of engineering and do something more real estate related, as long as it wasn't being a realtor. Many of the people I met in Articias class were sponsored by a small real estate office that would hand feed them leads that didn't have their own mortgage, or realtors trying to get a bigger cut...working in an environment like that would probably be ok...most of the mortgage brokerages in socal are cut throat high turnover jobs in call centers. Most are in Orange County. Most of these places have a front line set of phone operators that vet a potential client before passing them on to an MLO. Its difficult to get a job in the biz with no experience beyond this front line phone answering position...but here's the thing...the turnover is so great, most of the big companies will take their succeful phone operators and train them, and pay for all their liscences. I went into a place with its own training program and just answered phones while the rest of my training class tried to pass the NMLS. The people that didnt pass the test, were let go, the rest of us continued into sales training...lets just be blunt...if you have to ask if you are good in sales, you aren't and you never will be. After 6 weeks of completely useless training I was set on the floor and told to get some sales...There is minimal coaching, but there are natural born sales people that are better prospects and recipients of the limited coaching resources available...if you suck, dont expect a lot of extra help...Let me say it again...if you gotta ask if you are good in sales, you aren't. I ultimately had liscences for 10 states, and 12 hour days were the norm...You gotta hustle, To the leads you gotta sound like a friend, sound like an expert and lie. There is a huge potential to make a LOT of money, but there is a price to pay for it. Im gonna say around 50% of the people in the biz are drug users of some sort...I had no idea powdered cocaine was still a thing...marijuana use was as common as drinking coffee...and speaking of coffee...the company I worked for had all the free caffiene drinks you could think of. They frequently catered lunches and dinners for expensive places which was a nice touch. I sucked at sales...after three months i had sold 5 loans. The expectation was AT LEAST 2 a week. After being talked to a few times, i asked to leave...Since i was a punctual dependable guy management wanted to keep me as a processor or wholesaler or something...but those positions dont have anywhere near the earning potential of the MLO's so i left. As for me...amazingly even during the pandemic i was able to find another engineering job...The salary is a third or fourth of what an MLO can make, but hey...im not a 'sales' guy, so whatever. Ultimately I am proud of myself for giving it a shot...if it's something you think you can handle, go for it... read more
