I told this to the dental assistant, the assistant said, "Oh, He never does that." Dr. Hage DDS the owner, convinced me to have the tooth pulled. I was mentally weak due to the tooth pain. The doctor pulled the tooth and showed me a small white infection at the tip of the root, however there was no decay on the tooth. As soon as I saw that there was no decay; I knew all I really need was an antibiotic. I knew this because I had worked in dentistry from 1981 to 1997. Dr. Hage does not care about saving teeth he wants to pull them out so he can do an expensive implant. Then the dentist said I need to have a bone graft; he charged me $800 for that procedure. This took him all about 3 minutes, so I don't know what he really did. I have an upper partial denture, so now I had to pay additional money to add a tooth to the partial. It took two times to get the replacement tooth properly aligned right. It looks terrible and it doesn't look right. A very Mickey mouse job, the lab work was terrible. If you want to save your teeth I would never recommend this office. They don't care about the patient they just care about money. First off, I walked in and the guy on the phone just shushed me and told me he was busy and i had to go sit and wait. Pretty disrespectful, and I didn't appreciate any part of him being at all. I sat down as my roommate came alongside with me. No words were ever spoken, and someone came in and the guy immediately got off the phone and spoke with the new patient walking in. About 15 minutes goes by and the assistant come out and calls me name, even though I didn't think I was checked in yet, apparently I was. She decided to do some x rays, that took about 15 minutes long, she had no idea how to work the computer and the machine and made me stand there for a long time. I finally get to my room and the assistant tells me to wait here for the doctor, I waited for about 30 minutes. Then came the doctor, she looked at my mouth and then proceeded with all good info and that I was in need of a surgery or removal. I asked her what the price would be and the finances. The doctor proceeds to tell me that the guy in the front will come to let me know, again, another 30 minutes goes by of waiting. Never had any issues with the quality or care of his work. Then Dr. Kuwamoto took over the practice. Over the last 3-4 years every experience seemed to be less and less pleasant. Longer wait times to be seen, painful dental work, fill in dentists (maybe a student dentist) who were allowed to fill a cavity under Dr. Kuwamaoto's supervision but not do it correctly. Resulting in it having to be drilled and removed and filled again all in the same visit. That's a lot of time in one chair for a cavity filling that had to be done twice when it should have been done correctly the first time. Other visits where it should have been a simple cleaning but it turned into a sales pitch trying to talk me into an at home sleep study with a purchase of some type of breathing machine. Which seemed more of a way for the office to pay for the new CT machine they recently added. After they did the ct scan they started asking all these questions about snoring and if I have a hard time breathing when I'm sick... saying "this is the way dentistry is going. We're partnering with doctors and seeing how else we can help our patients" when all I really wanted was my 6 month cleaning done. All the extra CT stuff took over 30-40 extra minutes and caused me to be late for work. Don't get me wrong, the dental hygienists that work here are the best! I have always had great cleanings. They're always so friendly and welcoming. I have tried to give Dr. K and the office the benefit of doubt but today I went in for my normal 6 month cleaning and the new girl at the front told me my insurance was now out of network. I have had the same insurance for the last 10 years. So I asked if they stopped accepting it and she said "no we still take your insurance but at this moment the plan doesn't have in network coverage for the summer????? But we can reschedule you for November and you will be in network again" I was very confused. I have worked in multiple medical fields for over 10+ years that involve insurance billing and have never heard of seasonal coverage. It just seemed very odd. She said I could get services done still today but have to pay for them out of pocket. I told her I wish I would have known this before driving 20 minutes to get here and now having to drive 20 minutes back home without my dental cleaning being done. That is the real problem. Everyone there is incredibly patient and thorough. They never rush you and they take the time to explain everything in detail - not just "you need this done," but the why, the benefits, and all your options. It feels like true education instead of a sales pitch, which makes you feel respected and in control of your own care. The front desk staff (shout-out to the wonderful lady who always greets us) is genuinely sweet and makes checking in a pleasure. The hygienists and assistants are gentle and kind, my middle daughter actually looks forward to her appointments because "they're so nice and sweet to me." That's huge when you have kids!
