Took me over a year to write this review because I have such trauma from it. First off, I'm in my 30s with a missing tooth due to an infection that Dr Hejazi missed for 3 years, from a root canal I got there. Even though I'd complain of pain, & my gum receded to a "10!", it took multiple professionals here to miss the infection. Hejazi told me I must be stressed from school & needed a bite guard, which didn't even fit when it came. Thank you to Andrea who finally cared to listen and consulted a periodontist (who saw the infection without any equipment and recommended an immediate extraction.) Then the recovery process to get an implant, which took 9 months, ended up being infected because I wasn't properly instructed & didn't have antibiotics. The written discharge said Tylenol & IB. My sinus was perforated and infected as well. The pain was unbelievable & went for weeks before an xray showed the crazy amount of pus clouding my head. Dr Hejazi also offers free crown replacement as long as you keep up with your cleanings, he replaced each crown he did for me cuz they kept breaking. Also charged over 1k for each crown when my insurance told me it should have been $425, so shame on me. Call your insurance and confirm before agreeing to treatment, they also tend to use high pressure sales when agreeing to the financial aspects so you feel trapped. Definitely consult your insurance! Better yet, just don't go here. Dr Hejazi has great social skills but dentistry skills not so much. Please don't put your trust or health in this place, I made that mistake for you. I came here with high hopes. My intake appointment was going well. The office was clean and modern. The front desk staff was cordial. The dentist seemed knowledgeable. But then it all took a weird turn. After the xrays and initial exam from the dentist, I was expecting a cleaning. But I was denied the basic cleaning and only offered a $550 deep cleaning. Puzzled, I left the exam room and went to inquire with the front desk staff. They said that a regular cleaning (covered by my insurance) was not an option. My only option was the out-of-pocket optional deep cleaning. My spidey-senses started pinging. Surprised and dismayed, I left and called my old dentist. They told me that this is a common trap. Dentist offices will attempt to convince you that you need an expensive treatment when you don't. My daddy didn't raise no dummy. Do not go here. College Grove Dentistry ruined my teeth, charged me for services they never delivered, and refuses to issue a refund. They ground down healthy teeth, gave me a temporary bridge that was supposed to last a few weeks, and never followed through with permanent work. Now my teeth are rotting, I'm in pain, and no other dentist wants to fix the mess they left behind. This place is negligent, dishonest, and dangerous. Stay far away. read more

Will not be going back, after four years every time I go it seems that the staff is paid on commission. High pressure sales ( always pushing the 4 visit deep cleanings with the extra add ones.) Always taking lots of X-rays. Last visit was the LAST straw. Said no to to the deep cleaning just wanted the "regular" one. Took more x rays and they left me sitting in the chair for 40 minutes. I had scheduled an appointment with College Dentistry. The receptionist called me 2 days before, at around 5:06, just after they had closed at 5PM, because the hygienist wasn't going to be able to work the day of my scheduled appointment. The receptionist called me to see if I wanted to come in at 8:30 in the morning(the night before the appointment). I called at around 5:20, to see, maybe, they'd pick up, but to not avail. Then I get a message in the early hours, the next day, confirming my appointment for the scheduled day. I'm thinking to myself, "ok, well the hygienist will be there after all." I show up the day of the appointment, only to be told by the receptionist that she tried reaching out to me after they had closed, to reschedule the appointment. She, and Evelyn, didn't try to attempt to call me the day before to tell me they had to cancel the appointment. I think it's very unprofessional on their part and the dental clinic to do that to a patient. The appointment before was also terrible. I was under the impression that I was going to get work done that day, the hygienist was ready, but they decided last minute to schedule me for another appointment. I think, it was in spite of me not trying to get expensive work done that day. They figured I wasn't worth their time. They lost me as a patient. I'm not going back there. I end up waiting way longer past my appointment time. My mouth was so sore from the numbing shot considering they hit a nerve to something and I got a big wave of shock up my cheek. Not sure they even notified it cared but they seemed rushed also to do their work. I want to another dentist as my filling was hurting and they said it wasn't sealed properly. Frustratingly disorganized! After having a deep cleaning, a root canal (in a previous root canal), and two new crowns done here last year (VERY expensive), I scheduled my next appointment for a routine basic cleaning for March of this year. I was told at that time (and verified by myself later) that there would be a $0 copay for this cleaning twice a year. When I checked in in March, I was told that there would be a $40 copay. I explained that my copay would be $0 and showed the receptionist where it said that on my HMO's app. She insisted that a $40 copay was required, so I left in frustration. Now, in July they sent me a text reminding me to schedule another visit, which I was able to do online for the cleaning. The two emails I received over the next two days were confirmations for two appointments, one with the dentist and one with the hygienist at two different times. I called their office to explain that I only made one appointment, that for the cleaning, and that I wanted to verify that there would be a $0 copay. After some back and forth, it was discovered that my new insurance card was NOT scanned into their system, even though the first thing I said when I was there in March was that I had a new HMO. I brought my insurance card to their office this morning in hopes of scheduling my overdue cleaning. After much discussion between the receptionists and then with one of the dentists, I was told that I would also have to make an appointment for an examination. I told them that I only wanted the cleaning that I was supposed to get in March. No exam. The dentist left to confer with another dentist for several minutes and told me I'd have to have the exam before the cleaning because of my new insurance. (I haven't checked into that being an actual requirement yet.) After hearing that, I agreed to get the exam but I didn't want any x-rays. The dentist left to get a consensus on that possibility while I waited some more, and waited, and watched the receptionists trying to look busy (I was the only person in the waiting room.), and waited some more. Finally, tired of waiting and finding no easy answers to my questions, I left in frustration. That's twice this year!! I won't be back. read more

I been coming here for awhile now and Dr. Hejazi and Andrea are the best team I had Andrea as my assistant often and is very welcoming and understandin.I have anxiety when comes to to medical stuff,but she takes the time to listen and makes sure your comfortable and okay .I don't trust many, but I trust her. Edited to add that Koryn, is the best dental hygienist I have ever been too. She is funny and kind and very knowledgeable. She gets excited about seeing your progress and talks you through everything she is doing. She constantly asks if you're okay and makes sure you are comfortable. I came in because I noticed that 1 of my fillings had come off. I was fearing I'd have to get a root canal. I went in to College grove dentistry to get it checked (new patient) and just like I thought, I needed a root canal and crown and all that jazz. Went to see Dr. Hejazi. Nice guy. Staff was sweet and prompt. I went in with HMO insurance. I had read up on the coverage for my insurance that way I could tell the dentist that I didn't want all that fancy material and wanted to go with what my insurance covered. Well, after x-rays and taking a look at my teeth, Dr. Hejazi explained what he would have to do and that perhaps they needed to shave down the tooth next to it to make space for the crown. I understood that they couldn't give me an exact answer on whether or not they needed to shave down my tooth until they were to fit in the crown. Dr. Hejazi walked out and an assistant came in with the quote. I told her that I wanted to stick with what my insurance covered so that my out of pocket would be as minimal as possible but she said that I would have to take it up with the dentist. I had to leave to go back to work so i figured I'd send him an email to see if we could come to an accordance on the material. Well it's been 3 months and Dr. Hejazi has not answered my 2 messages via that program they force you to enroll in and my 3 phone calls promising me that he will call me back. In my case, before I can go to a dentist, I have to choose them as my dentist through my insurance so I've been dealing with this excruciating pain while waiting for this call. If you don't want to help your patients, just tell them straight up so that we aren't left hanging in pain. It's unethical and rude. I will be taking this complaint to my insurance so that I may change destists without having to pay for new patient check up. The photo shows that I've been trying to contact this dentist. Very unhappy with the services here. I came in for a tooth that was bothering me and they told me I had an infected root canal. They showed me on the X-ray that I would need another root canal to be done and my insurance wouldn't cover it again. I paid $1,900+ for the work to be done in the next appointment. I go back and not only waited over an hour but they did the root canal and are now telling me now the tooth can't be saved and I need it removed with either an implant or bridge. They could have removed it in the first place. Now, the doctor haas rescheduled my appointments twice now and I can't get a straight answer on the price or a refund from anyone in the office. I am very frustrated and feel like I wasted money on a disservice. I would NOT recommend going here. Now I am stuck with a half ass root canal, down $1,900 and still don't have ano answers! Edit: Now correcting from 1 star to 5 stars. The dentists really made it a point to rectify the situation and made sure I understood the full process. I am now very happy coming here, and I hope they continue to operate they are now. I got the tooth pulled by a really great doctor who called me after to check on me. I have Insurance and the insurance company notified CG Dentistry to return the money when that didn't happen, the insurance company paid me the money and said they would collect it from CG Dentistry. Don't be fooled by the 5 stars, I can't be this much of an extreme difference. Looking at the reviews its either 5 stars or 1 star hmmmm I will be writing corporate as well. I arrived at my appointment at 10:30 am today. It was my first time there so they took X-rays. After, I was taken to another room where a dentist came in and poked around in my mouth for 30 min. I told her about my receded gums and sensitivity in one tooth. After she was done she gave me a list of procedures she recommended I have done then she disappeared for 20+ min. Then another person came in with the costs, over $4000 worth of dental work! I told her I couldn't afford all that right now so she proceeds to negotiate and leaves and comes back three times with different costs! Still no one came to clean my teeth and it's 12:00 pm so I asked, and was told he went to lunch and I could either wait an hour or reschedule. WHAT, I was here for a cleaning and he went to lunch? It was my only day off so I need to have them cleaned today. I scheduled another appointment for 2 pm later that day. Which was an inconvenience for me. Arrived at 2 pm, waited 15 min in waiting room. Recalled I need to see someone about my receding gums so I made the appointment myself, no one available until 4/27th. Guess who comes out to talk to me again? The negotiator with yet another payment option pressuring me Issac finally comes to waiting room to get me. He says my last name but I thought he sad my first, he catches an attitude and says no. He makes a comment about the coffee I'm drinking and says oh so that's why your teeth are so stained. Unprofessional, rude, insensitive, and insulting. Then proceeded to perform a very mediocre cleaning all the while complimenting me on how clean my teeth actually are and how the photos exaggerated the stains. The cleaning took maybe 10 min if that. He didn't even care or try to do his job right. He left some think white stuff that coated my teeth and tells me not to eat or drink anything but water for an hour. He takes me to the front and guess who's there, yup the negotiator again, reminding me to review the options she gave me. They need a new staff and new management. Until then DO NOT GO! I got new insurance and this dentistry was on the list and it was reasonably close. The first time I went was for a cleaning I scheduled. I went in and they took x-rays and then the dentist had to see me first and decide if I could get my teeth cleaned or needed a special cleaning. I just needed a regular, 6 month cleaning and they don't schedule it on the day you set appointment and make you come back. It took two visits for a cleaning that then took 20 minutes to complete. The second time I went in for a cleaning I was specific that I wanted a cleaning done on the scheduled day and they said it would be. When I went in they were going to charge me extra without giving me information for why. Apparently, they provide extras that insurance doesn't cover without asking or really informing you. I did not need a fluoride treatment and when I figured out why they were charging me for a cleaning that was covered by my insurance I still was able to say no. They even remembered me from 1 or 2 years ago but their dental hygienist Issac made me feel really uncomfortable and made me not want to come back to the dentist to get a cleaning there ever again. He made me feel super uncomfortable and made about my teeth cleaning them and accidentally poked me with the tool he was using and I flinched and he said if I would've taken better care of my teeth, they wouldn't hurt so much. I've been bouncing around dentists for a while and finally got dental insurance, so I picked this office. I'm very satisfied with the service here. The front desk staff is very nice in person and on the phone, and more importantly, they are competent with looking up insurance benefits when they can and they call back when they say they will. Dr. Tan, Dr. Hejazi, and Isaac are both wonderful with great bedside manner. I don't have a fear of dentists' offices, but they all do a good job at making their patients feel at ease. Usually with hygienists, the cleaning is either quick or thorough, but he is somehow able to pull off both. I'm impressed every time. When we changed dental insurance this year, I made sure this office was in-network, and I hope to stay with them a long time! read more

I highly recommend finding a different dentist's office. They're scammers and don't follow dental guidelines, which is extremely concerning for a dental office. The first time I was here, I waited for 45 minutes in the exam room. I finally poked my head out to ask when someone was seeing me, and they clearly forgot about me. The second time was 6 months later. They told me I needed to get x-rays again. This is against the dental association guidelines. You do not need to get x-rays more than once a year if you are a low risk, healthy person. I told them that I wasn't getting unnecessary radiation. They're only trying to do x-rays more frequently to charge the insurance company and get extra $$$. Then they told me because I'm pregnant, they couldn't do a routine teeth cleaning without a note from my doctor. They told me I would need to reschedule. I am a physician. I can tell you right now, there is absolutely no reason I would need to get a doctor's note for a routine teeth cleaning. They also cleaned my teeth when I was pregnant six months ago! (I'm due next month.) This is extremely inconsiderate considering that I have a full practice and a small child, and making time to go to the dentist is not easy. When my husband went, they charged him $250 for a routine teeth cleaning, which should be covered by our insurance. They told him that they needed to do a "deeper cleaning," and that's why they were charging him. Then they tried to upsell him to do a periodontal visit even though his teeth and gums were fine. Where to begin...I went in for a tooth cleaning...I wanted to make sure that they accepted Western dental insurance. When it was determined I needed a root canal after a dozen X-rays the liaison working with insurance companies came in with the estimate. It was showing a total north of $7,500.00. I did not mistype this number. My out of pocket was around $3,800.00. I guess the insurance company...Western Dental would pick up the difference. After finally getting someone online with Western Dental...who I could understand...I proceeded to check the invoice received from College Grove Dentistry with the insurance representative. It turns out that I made a good decision calling before any root canal with crown was completed...as Western Dental does NOT work with College Grove Dentistry. My copay...with a dentist under my "plus" plan is $0.00 for a root canal and $0.00 for a metal/porcelain crown. Talk about a misleading/corrupt business practice...jeewiz...can't anyone just do the right thing any more? The staff was very nice and straightforward...but knowing I had to use MY INSURANCE...to be able to afford the procedure...and not disclose the fact that they do not work with Western Dental...well...simply put...is reprehensible on many levels. read more

Dishonest! I had an accident that led me to break two of my front teeth. I called and they were able to take me in that same day. After doing X-rays and exams I was told I needed a root canal, two crowns, and a deep cleaning. It all added up to 2,400+(with insurance). I agree to start treatment and got a temporary crown that same day. The temporary crown was horribly done. It was not a good color match for my teeth and it wasn't all a uniform color. I got a second opinion the next day. After being examined and quoted at this second office, it was apparent that I was being taken advantage of. The new office quoted me less than $1,100 including an additional root canal that I ended up needing. I called this office to end treatment and was told I was responsible to pay $714 which is half the cost of the crowns. The office manager claimed they had already prepped my teeth for the crowns and therefore I was responsible for paying half of the money. In actuality I should have been charged for a temporary crown. I spoke to Dr. Ali and during our conversation he disclosed that the assistant that made my temporary crown isn't proficient quite yet. They also failed to give me options on types of crowns. Instead, I was quoted the most expensive kind without knowing about the other options. Dr. Ali agreed to charge me for a temporary crowns and I was refunded $290. $420 dollars still seems like a lot of money for some poorly done temporary crowns. I have contacted the Dental Board of California and will be filing a claim. This has turned out to be the most unpleasant experience and wouldn't recommend going here. read more

"As good as it gets" is the perfect way to describe a dental office. I've been blessed with terrible teeth, and until now, even worse dentists. I have been to Tijuana and back, around San Diego from La Jolla to City Heights, and College Grove is the first dentist I have ever found that provides fantastic service, amazing payment options, and friendly, caring staff. I almost cried after finding them because I was so happy to have finally found a dentist who really cares about patients and the work they do is top notch. I never feel rushed or pressured into any treatment. They have helped me devise a plan of action that works with my schedule and finances, and they have let me come in on several occasions at a moment's notice to replace a lost cap or temporary that fell off. They glued it on, same day, and free of charge. They are fast and sensitive to the needs of a huge chicken (me) when it comes to sitting in the chair. And they play rockin' good music, so a root canal is much less painful than when listening to elevator music. I can't thank them enough, so I figured i would give them this review that they so deserve. There was no wait time, the place is clean and welcoming, and the staff are professional and friendly.
