We were looking for help with disposing of an old bed frame and mattress, and replacing it with a new one (Thuma Bed + Nest Bedding). We sent numerous inquiries on here, and encouraged by the positive reviews for Affordable Furniture Assembly, we wrote to them too. Just about every other reply was generic and didn't pay attention to the specifics of what we're looking for, whereas Robert was quick to email back, and even inquire about the make and model of the new bed so he could study the manuals. We corresponded with him entirely via email and text, leading up to scheduling our appointment. The Thuma shipment was delayed by FedEx, but when it came, we left all the boxes in order for the two of them to proceed with. They arrived on time and got to work right away, sizing up the situation and being extremely coordinated between the both of them -- they truly display a lot of experience and possess poetry in motion! Although the Thuma is straightforward to assemble, it's of unconventional design with heavy slabs of wood, and they were careful to double-check that no steps were missing. I shared info along the way, such as orienting the mattress correctly, since we got a split mattress that's medium on one side and firm on the other. I was reading about the Japanese word "shokunin", which refers to someone who's repeated a process over and over until they're a truly stellar artisan and master of their craft. While they are assembling furniture rather than building it, I'd certainly count Robert and Cassandra to be shokunin of their profession. Proactive problem solvers, and our experience is consistent with all of the other 5-stars on here. I'd gladly recommend them to family and friends looking to relieve stress when it comes to getting your furniture just right! I'm not quite that un-handy, but when I bought a small liquor cabinet from Wayfair and it was still in the box after six weeks, it was time to call for help. I sent Robert an email, and he got right back to me. He requested a link to the item to give me a quote for the labor, and we found a time later that same week. His emails were polite and professional. The day of the appointment, he arrived with his daughter and they got right to work. An hour later, everything was done. This guy is amazing! I live in California and just bought all new furniture for my son's new apt who lives in Des Moines, Wa. His prices are very affordable!! After struggling to assemble my 4 drawer dresser for 4+ hours, I finally decided to give in and contact Affordable Furniture Assembly via email. Robert responded the next day and we made an appointment for 6 days later. He was actually available in 4 days but I didn't want to take time off work. They came 10 minutes early too, very professional. Robert and his daughter assembled my dresser, night table, dining table with 4 chairs, and shoe rack in 2 hours. I was amazed at how efficient and quick they were. I hadn't told them ahead of time about the shoe rack as I was going to assemble it myself, but after looking at the perplexing instructions, I asked Robert to do it and he nicely obliged. He hung my coat rack too with his drill and said that if it ever fell down, he'd come back and fix it for free! I bought a dresser at IKEA and forgot to ask them to find a furniture assembly person so I went on Google to look for someone who was affordable and could come ASAP. Robert and his partner came 10 minutes early and finished within 1 hour and 30 minutes. They were both very kind and made sure to take off their shoes. They also were happy to remove my old dresser for an extra $30. Another nice thing they did was tell me that one of the parts of my dresser was cracked. I am now quite tired of assembling flat-pack furniture myself - and so, having bought a pre-owned unused flat-pack 30" x 60" desk with an adjustable keyboard platform mechanism (and spending an entire Saturday afternoon trying to contact the manufacturer for assembly instructions...to no avail) I decided to look up the possibility of getting in an expert to do it for me. Narrowed down to two options - Affordable Furniture Assembly or the manufacturing company. The manufacturing company's quote was over 4 times what AFA asked for, but also, I didn't want to take my business to a corporation, rather hire an individual/local, so I called AFA and got a same-day appointment. Now I know one doesn't expect fireworks from a desk assembly, but it was an exceptionally smooth and painless experience. He was knocking at my door on time; did the job in less than 45 minutes and then even helped me correct another cupboard that I had screwed up. All along seemed in control of the situation and master of his tools. In addition, he asked me if what he was charging me seemed reasonable to me. We purchased a king-sized bed (Brumnes) with built-in drawers on both sides and a headboard with built-shelving on each side. Two-hours and a trip to Ace Hardware later, we discovered that we did not have the skills to assemble this beast of a bed. We called Ikea to inquire about their post-purchase assembly services.
