We had Comfort Air install our new HVAC system seven years ago and called them when we had an outage. The tech came out, fixed it, and then noted our whole duct system was inadequate. We contracted to have it replaced for a little over $9k. The crew who came to work didn't seem to have the full work order and did not provide tarps or anything to cover the mess that fell from the ceiling during the job. We were promised a portable AC unit during the day while the AC was off but that didn't happen either. Our order called for all new vents, but that was news to the crew on site. They did leave and eventually return with replacement vents. The original tech said he would follow up the next day to make everything right, but that's two weeks ago and no word. I'm not 100 percent sure that everything on my work order was installed, but the vents and system are working well. I guess I expected better customer service since we had a great experience the first time. Update: the general manager is following up to investigate our concerns. He was immediately responsive to my review. Hopefully all will be made right. read more

While away, my tenants were to get a dishwasher installed but Costco wasn't able do due to a rusted angle valve and no stop gap. Comfort air was able to install it next day(Saturday) so that Costco could come by Sunday to try installing the dishwasher again. Overall good experience. We had Trenton Perry out today to do a basic service call. He was very friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. We had some ideas to help cool our house and he ran through his ideas of what could work and then proceeded to provide us with an estimate. We've used another AC company but will be sticking with Comfort Air now and requesting Trenton specifically for future calls. We called for a one time service but realized the savings we would get by having the membership. Jon just finished our annual a/c checkup. He began by introducing himself and telling me about his background and qualifications. Then he as me about our previous Comfort Air checkups and how we use our existing system (since we are snowbirds from Canada). After his inspection of our unit on the roof in 108° heat (!), he showed me videos of his findings, and explained exactly what he discovered. He clearly explained why potential problems might worsen with our ten year old unit (which was basically running non-stop from morning to night). Then I received his suggestions which included his recommendations about repairs vs. a new installation, and what would be involved in both situations. Comfort Air was recommended to us by close friend when we bought our Palm Springs house three years ago, and we couldn't be happier with the professional, courteous, and knowledgeable service we have received ever since. Based upon Jon's approach to our system's issues and the other reviews that I have read here, we won't even bother with competing bids--we trust Comfort Air to do an excellent job of replacing our failing unit with a newer, more efficient one. read more

Comfort air is not trustworthy - get second opinions and document EVERYTHING yourself. ....................... Hi Paul, Thank you for your response--it confirms my point: Comfort Air does not stand behind its work. After multiple opportunities to address issues tied to your original installation, your team instead presented repair quotes. The main issue, that completely stopped our unit from working, stems from your installation. Presenting $2,853+ in "options" for issues you created is not thoroughness--it's avoiding accountability and taking advantage. Example: We were told no leak could be found, and was likely in our line - which was later proven incorrect. That's either a failure in diagnosis or a lack of proper inspection--neither is acceptable. In addition, I paid your company $50 to present those absurd quotes to me and this was a critical issue that took our unit completely offline. Pressuring us with $10k quotes with no working air conditioner... had this been summer, you and your team would have put us in an even worse position. The cherry on top? I recently received photos of your company's work that I had requested years ago. Those photos show installation issues that were never disclosed or corrected--even after your personal inspection and the 6+ times your team has "serviced" our equipment since. I'm not sure what you deem as "thorough" but I respectfully disagree with your definition. I gave multiple opportunities to resolve this directly before posting. A company that "stands behind its work" should have diagnosed the install issue and worked to correct the immediate problem; not try to take advantage of people that invested in your company. Let me share my experience with folks so they can know what a gong show it has been in dealing with this company. I was given a quote on a mini split system and the sales guy seemed very knowledgeable and left a good impression. I got 3 quotes from different companies and now am wishing I went with someone else. They have tried to give the best customer service, I will be fair with that, but the overall handling from installation to all the problems I have had within two months leaves a lot to be desired. So many different cogs in the wheel doesn't work. I wish I would have went with a small company. The guys who installed it didn't even know what they were doing. They were trying to connect a 240V by hooking it up as a 120V and using the other as a grounding wire. The day of installation I mentioned that I had to leave by 5pm and as they arrived at 8:30am they assured me they would be done. It was important that I leave and I had very expensive tickets to an event. 5:30 rolls around and he is trying to figure out why the unit is not working despite the obvious aspect that it was a 240V plug. I had to call the sales rep to reel him in, show me respect to my need to leave and have someone come and finish the following day. 2 other people came out over and one senior guy got the thing working. Or so I thought. Not long after it started making noises and didn't seem right so they sent some other guy out who "checked" the system and assured me it was perfectly fine. He took the opportunity to sell me a surge protector which I think was a smart buy anyways. The reality is this new humming was an indicator that everything was NOT alright. They seem to have a lot of inexperienced people on their team and send someone new out every time so the people who come don't have any back history on anything!! Sure enough 3 days ago the unit goes out as the pump that gets rid of condensation in the unit failed. This was the end result of which the humming was an early indicator that could have been caught and nipped in the bud. I called and they were not in a hurry to help me and I had to force the issue by mentioning I was a new customer and they haven't got it right and since this is my only cooling unit, they needed to get it right. Initially they were trying to schedule me for the following day when it is 113 outside. They were in a hurry to take my money when they improperly installed this piece of junk that I have had so many issues in the two months since it has been put in. So a service manager came out yesterday and looked at the unit and told me that the part won't come in until the morning and would 10 or 11am work. The unit kept starting and stopping so they had the courtesy of having yet another team member (think I met about 15 different people so far) drop off a small portable unit that would cool a room size of 250 square feet. Here I am and it is 10:30 and no one has reached out to me to get this repair finished or at least let me know what is going on. They are "checking" to see if the part came despite Colten telling me the part would be in and that he could come mid morning to get it fixed. I had plans to go somewhere but I have been held hostage for 3 days because they don't have any ability to get the job done. Honestly, I wish I would have never picked up the phone to deal with these people and feel it is my duty to inform others. If my issue is not resolved soon I am going to look for a lemon law lawyer and seek a refund if they can't get it fixed properly. Save yourself a lot of hassle and seek out a small company who can take care of you instead of just treating you like a number. read more

My AC unit a mini split started leaking water in drips. It was approximately 9 years old , bought and installed by Comfort Air. Always kept to schedule with maintenance. Made an appointment for service for which the technician showed up promptly clean neat and friendly as usual. He took a look at the unit and turned it on then went out back to look at the compressor which services a second identical unit in a second bedroom which is working perfectly. He was here...all told maybe a half hour. He then proceeds to tell me I need to replace the entire ensemble which includes a larger unit in the living area and a separate compressor to the tune of 12,000 thousand dollars with a long time customer discount of 1,500 bucks. The other 2 units work fine but they no longer make that model and the two smaller units along with the compressor are synchronized. Better to replace the larger unit as well as it's compressor because it will probably die soon too. I called a friend who is also in her seventies and armed with a you tube video we took the unit apart ourselves and cleaned the water pipe and the drip pan. Put it all back together and it has been working perfectly now for 3 weeks. Kept the 10,500 dollars that I didn't have to begin with. I will never call them again or recommend them to anyone.
