I never suggested it was an emergency, so the visit could have easily been scheduled for the next day. Moreover, your service is advertised as 24/7, correct? - Lack of transparency and pricing: My main concern is the lack of transparency and the attempt to rip me off. The lock you intended to "repair" costs $65 brand new, yet you proposed to "fix" it by replacing two pieces for $300, plus $55 for labor. It's clear that these two components do not cost $150 each, given that the entire lock is only $65. The price was clearly inflated for profit. The least you could have done was to inform me that purchasing a new lock for $65 would have been a more cost-effective solution. When I declined your offer, you had the audacity to ask, "How much are you willing to pay?"--which only reinforced my suspicion that you were attempting to take advantage of me. - Overcharging: Yes, I paid $160 for the lock to be opened, but had I not questioned the cost of replacing those two pieces, I would have ended up paying an additional $355, bringing the total to $515--just to change a lock! The right thing to do would have been to open the lock and then advise me that the best option was to purchase a brand new lock and then charge for the labor. Liran came out a few days ago to install a deadbolt in my new apartment door. I spoke to a few locksmiths in the area before booking the job and he was the most responsive and gave the best price. He was friendly, efficient, and as far as I can tell did the job right. Whole job took maybe 20-30 minutes and it's working fine and looks good. He also took a look at the other lock on my door which was kind of sticking and gave me a few suggestions about what to do to fix it, as well as ground down the frame a little which helped already. We got locked out of our apartment and instead of calling a locksmith, I pushed the door in and the frame and lock broke. Needless to say we needed a locksmith ASAP. CROOKS! GO ELSEWHERE! PAID $720 lockout and lock replacement and find out 2 weeks later the the lock installed was a CHEAP, USED LOCK after it malfunctioned! See photos below. The Owner LIRAN SASSON has been unresponsive, hanging up my calls, scheduled visits to fix the lock, but never shows up or calls. BACKSTORY: I was locked out 3 weeks ago and Liran sent someone inexperienced to drill my lock ($229) and replace it ($260). Locksmith #1 acted unprofessional and the cost seemed unusually high when I was initially quoted $300 by Liran over the phone. I got suspicious when he told me there was additional sales tax not included. I called Liran who who asked why he was charging me additional tax. We settled at $489 that I paid to Liran through Zelle. I didn't trust the lock installation and texted photos of the new lock to Liran who said he would personally come the next day to check on the lock installation. He never showed up. The next day I found myself locked out again because I wasn't aware the security button on the mortise lock was pressed. I had to call Liran again who sent a different locksmith. Locksmith #2 picked the lock with a plastic card in all but 2 minutes and charged me $200! Why couldn't the locksmith from the day before pick my lock installed of drilling and breaking it??? After he opens the door, he pointed out the new lock wasn't installed properly and proceeded to spend 30 minutes trying to fix the lock installation from the prior day. The next day, I confirmed I was overcharged by this business when I called 5-6 different locksmiths in the area to get a quote and was told most would charge me $300-350 for the work required for a lockout and and a new lock install. I let Liran know he overcharged me and asked for a refund of $300. He said he was only willing to refund me $100 but never does. After 2 weeks, the new lock stops working!! I'm not able to turn the bolt and couldn't shut my front door. I tried calling Liran again and he hung up on me numerous times! That night I had to take apart the lock myself in order to close my door. Since then, more phone calls, to Liran and hang ups my calls by Liran. Eventually I get Liran on the call. He says he will come replace the lock but fails to show after 2 separate scheduled visits. I am forced to file complaints against Affordable Locksmith Queens with Better Business and Dept of Consumer Affairs. Liran doesn't seem to care. I'm out $720 and nothing gained but headaches and frustration. Avoid doing business with this unscrupulous owner. UPDATE 9/24/22- I finally had a brand new lock installed by my building's locksmith ($300) and it was confirmed the lock installed by Liran's Locksmith #1 on 9/5/22 was a used, cheap Chinese made lock. The door knob and front and back plate is silver but the side plate is brass. I have called Liran numerous times asking for a refund and he still just hangs up on me. read more

Well, I called Leo based on the "good" reviews but it seems that he's running a very weird game. He send two of his "technicians" to take a look at it. But they didn't even pause to explain, because right away they said it is a $595.00 dollars job. I said no because that sounded like too much, and I know that it's only an alignment problem in the lock, so it only needs to be taken apart and be fixed. When I said no to 595, he called his manager, but he started to talk in a language I would not recognize. Which isn't good for a customer who's trying to understand. Then he said he would charge me 494. I said no. I paid him for his assessment and he left. But shortly after Then he kept calling me. Then Leo called me and said he'd do it for 250.00. I said no. Then his technician wouldn't stop calling me right after Leo called. I finally picked, so he said, "my manager told me to do it for 395". I said no, I am not interested. That was the end. I give them credit for quick response time, but all we were hoping to accomplish was to unlock a residential lock. The guy said that because it was a "secure lock" he had to drill into it and break it, which of course then required us to purchase a replacement lock. The drilling cost $375, plus a $55 "service charge" and the new lock was an additional $450! I was under the impression that any lock is pickable, so this reeked of upsell, but I'm not a professional locksmith and they know that. These guys know they have you by the balls when you're locked out and can basically charge whatever they want. $880 for less than an hour of actual work - an insane ripoff and some very unscrupulous price gouging. read more

I was scammed. I called for a quote to re-key one door lock to match the lock of another door in my apartment. The quote to do this was $85. "Affordable Locksmith Queens," contracted the job to another locksmith, we'll call him Locksmith 2. He called me for my address and asked what kind of lock I had, not knowing much about locks I texted him a picture of the lock and he called back saying he could re-key it. Locksmith 2 arrives, pulls the cylinder out and tells me he cannot re-key it because it has too many pins but he can replace both locks' cylinders so they'll work with the same key. Ok, great. That's the problem I wanted solved, 1 key 2 doors. Locksmith 2 changes the cylinders and then tells me the price is $170. I told him Locksmith 1 quoted me $85 and Locksmith 2 said it's $85 for 1 lock. We went back and forth with me explaining I sent a picture of the lock and that was the quote I received so it's not my fault he didn't know he couldn't re-key it and Locksmith 2 punting to Locksmith 1. I don't know anything about re-keying locks but it feels a lot like a scam. 1/5 wouldn't recommend. The new cylinders don't even match the door hardware, gold instead of silver. read more
