I have a pair of beloved plastic frames that both my optometrist's office and Walmart said could not get new lenses, due to age. I ordered some RayBan frames and took them and my prescription to Affordable Optics. Carla said, "I like the ones you're wearing better." I said "Me too!!!" and told her my tale of woe. Amazing customer service. I brought ny vintage Dior sunglasses in to be fixed. The frame was cracked. They sent them off to another company to have the frames fixed but sadly , that company ruined the frames for life . I was devastated. These glasses were my favorite glasses I've ever owned and I paid a small fortune for them at a vintage eyeglass shop in LA years ago. What they DID do was somehow find another pair of the exact same Cristian Dior vintage frames on line , bought them for me, and then replaced the lenses . I only paid for the lenses. Just walked in to repair my Ray Ban sunglasses because the screw had fallen out of one of the hinges. Steve took the time to find the perfectly fitted screw and adjusted my glasses so that the legs were no longer loose, which was AWESOME!!! And then when I pulled out my wallet, they said I didn't owe them anything for that!!! I am NOT a regular customer...I'd never even been there before! I was blown away! Fantastic customer service! I was in a hurry for new glasses on a Saturday when I discovered that the big chain place that advertises "glasses in an hour" no longer offers such service. A quick search landed me at Affordable Optics off El Paseo in PD. Steve, the owner, amazed me when he said he had my lenses and said he could have my new glasses ready in 15-20 minutes!!!! WOW! What a rare and wonderful business and people. They restored my computer glasses by removing a cloudy coating (which saved me from a world of trouble) and charged hardly anything. Think about how few great small businesses are left while you're trying to navigate the construction to get there. I have been using Affordable Optics for more than 10 years in the desert. They have a great selection of frames and can easily put your new prescription / sunglass lenses in frames you have bought elsewhere. They can often fill prescriptions while you wait and make most repairs immediately. I have recommended many people to them and all have been completely satisfied. Their prices are much less than the local eye doctors who can charge $500-$1,000 a pair.
