Very professional, down to business and great result. I decided to switch from basic to full tuning as my instrument had drifted down a 1/4 pitch. He was a bit particular with external sounds and demanded total quiet ambient. But I now have a wonderfully sounding piano and he gave me some advise about adding dehumidifier to the inside to remove moisture in the action and make for a lighter feel. I was able to get a quality piano tuning for an excellent price :) Prices vary depending on your piano needs, but in general as of 2020, you can expect: $85 for upright basic tuning. $95 for grand piano tuning. Double the price if you also need the pitch readjusted if you haven't tuned your piano in a while $30 to fix a loose key. ( and this is all I know ) The owner has excellent communication through Yelp messaging and will schedule an appointment with you. With more people staying at home, he has been busy, but you should get an appointment within a week, maybe earlier. He will work efficiently for an one hour time slot, and keep clean by wearing a mask and gloves. His payment options are cash, check, or an app called Zelle. And he will provide receipt upon request. read more

My piano has finally been tuned and it sounds great! I had been delaying tuning it because of cost. Recently, during the current shelter-in-place, my kids and I have been playing the piano every day. I figured it was time for a tuning, as certain notes were sounding a little off. $100 for basic tuning, by far the best price I could find (a little higher than the advertised rate based on my home zip code). Even though it had been nearly 10 years since the last tuning, Jian Min said basic tuning would be fine, no need for the more expensive pitch raise tuning. Jian Min was very punctual, polite, and professional. I appreciate the safety precautions he took in regards to COVID-19. He wore a mask and new plastic gloves the entire time, so his hands never directly touched the piano. Jian Min was efficient and thorough, very focused the entire time. The entire piano tuning took about 1 hour 15 minutes, exactly the amount of time he estimated, including time taken at the end to check and double check the sound of individual notes and chords. I played for a few minutes at the end to check the tuning myself, and he waited patiently, making sure I was satisfied with the tuning, which I was :) I highly recommend this piano tuner! read more

Jian did a really nice job on getting our baby grand back in tune. He basically is only using a digital Tuner - but he was very thorough - spent 1.5 hours on our piano. It sounds very good again and will do this a little more frequently than we used to. He's very reasonably priced as well - a huge bonus compared to a lot of other piano tuners. read more

I reached out to several tuners and told them that I recently moved and hadn't tuned my piano in years. They all said that I would be REQUIRED to pay extra for a pitch raise, in addition to a regular tuning, since it had been so long. However, Jian kept it honest and said a pitch raise MAY be required based on my situation. When he came, he assessed my piano and showed me that I did in fact need a pitch raise. He did not pressure me whatsoever to get the extra service and said he would be happy to only do the regular tuning if I was ok with the pitch only being better, instead of near perfect. I appreciated his honesty and he stayed an extra hour to do the pitch raise. I highly recommend Jian if you're looking for an affordable tuner who is honest, efficient and affordable. read more

We recently moved our upright Yamaha piano to Fremont for our kids to play. We reached out to Jian for a quote and then scheduled the service. Jian texted us couple days in advance to reconfirm and on the day of, he texted to let me know he's running 30 mins behind, which we are totally okay with. It took him about 70 or 80 mins to complete the work and after he was done, he apologized again for arriving late. Super nice guy! I will be calling him for yearly service. His English wasn't so hot but he was very punctual, polite, and professional. He not only tuned every key of my piano to perfect pitch but fixed a number of sticky keys at no extra charge. Was fun watching him work: Jian's a master of the old world, using just a hammer and a very, very keen ear -- no huge electric tuners, no new-fangled devices, no BS. And he absolutely nailed it.
