I used this company a little over a year ago, and they did a great job at a reasonable price. I called them back a couple months ago to do some work on my pond and they said that they would have a representative get back to me. I heard nothing back for a couple weeks and called them back and they assured me that a representative would call me back. I heard nothing. The third time I explained the situation and how frustrated I was and they assured me that there would be a call. I never heard back from them and contacted another company. I was having some flow issue with the water feature in the backyard. Clayton came to take a look and said he would try to do a deep cleaning but couldn't guarantee if it would fix the problem. Given the feature was built many years ago , I thought that was an acceptable answer. On the day of the job, he texted me saying he was running a bit late. We had our pond built in 2003 and have enjoyed Koi fish in it since then. Over the years, it was always I who did the annual routine cleaning of the biofilters, vacuuming, regular emptying of the pond skimmer net, treating for fish parasites, and pulling up sagging pond liner to keep the water from receding. Not a great deal of work each year but quite hard at times. I could never give the pond a thorough cleaning (requires completely draining the pond), because we don't have the room for a temporary tank to keep the 16-18" fish in. That said, more areas of pond-liner-sag happened and, were losing water and it was reflected in our expensive utility bill. That's when we found Affordable Ponds and called Clayton. Having learned a great deal about pond care myself, It didn't take me long to see Clayton knows his stuff and he was such a pleasant person to deal with, we hired him to do a thorough cleaning, check for leaks in the liner, and re-foam seal the slates on our three-teared stream. We purchased a home in Maple Valley with a water feature - pond and stream. Unfortunately, the pump stopped working a few months later and algae just took over in the pond despite our best efforts to clean and treat the water. Found Clayton and reserved a day for cleaning of the pond and stream. He and his colleague pressure washed the stones, cleaned out the muck, and trimmed back the aquatic plants. The cleaned pond looked amazing! Clayton also provides a great education on pond care and suggested that we could add koi fish in it. Kids were excited to transition from gold fish to koi. Ok, so I've gone back and forth on whether I should write a review here, but have decided as a (first time) customer, I would want to know. I had my pond cleaned a few months ago. I cannot speak to the pond building of this company because I only had mine cleaned. Over all, I am not happy and this is why. 1. The sludge from the pond was drained onto my back lawn and left there. I had to clean it up. 2. I had an expensive pair of pruners that disappeared, then ultimately brought back to me but only after I had to call the company a month later to tell them that the skimmer basket and the filters beneath were not put back in proper and were just "floating" in there. I only discovered that when I went in to clean it and was not able myself to get down into the bottom of the filter area to fix it. Then and only then, did the same tech guy come back and had my pruners which he said he "accidently grabbed". Not sure how that happened as they were on my potting bench and no where close to things he had brought with him. I am missing a couple other things, but I cannot assume the same thing happened, so I won't. I'm just not happy and won't be using this company again. The price wasn't worthy of the service. read more

We purchased a house with a very large pond and waterfall. We didn't know how to take care of it at all and alot of algae started growing. I contacted Clayton for a deep cleaning and they really cleaned it extremely well. We drained the pond and they power washed all the rocks, got all the leaves out and even removed a few frogs that had taken up residence. Would definitely consider them for annual cleaning. I called Affordable Ponds for a pump replacement. Clayton ended up cleaning the pond and stream first. He found the pond had the most sludge he's seen this year. I hadn't had it professionally cleaned for years. He thought the whole thing would take a couple of hours. It ended up taking 5 hours due to non-performance of the pump, which Clayton thought could be made functional again after the pond cleaning. He finally ended up installing a new pump. Now everything works great. The pond looks wonderful. The fish are happy. I'm happy. I told Clayton if I get a turtle I will name it after him.
