The reviews are right on. We recently purchased a new home and were told the roof was recently placed. After having the home inspector highly recommend a new roof we contacted 6 different roofing companies, being ignored by one put off to January or February by others, we found a few which responded. Kelly contacted me directly after I had submitted an inquiry via Yelp. Mind you this was around thanksgiving and on a Friday. Not only was Kelly punctual but also courteous, knowledgeable and kind, which is so appreciated- as we know nothing about roofing or roofs. Although they are not the least expensive I truly believe they are fair. Add the great customer service and responsiveness and hands down our family was treated as if we were paying so much more. Kelly and his team... I can't find the words to describe them- phenomenal, superb, courteous, professional, etc. etc. etc.!! This is truly a family business which I would highly recommend. Absolutely would recommend them. I was so stressed after the big storm we had a couple months ago. They were very responsive, great customer service. Managed to get us in early the week of Thanksgiving instead of third week in December. Wow we dodged another storm. Had lots of dry rot and kept our quote almost spot on considering all the work they had to do. Very impressed and trust means everything to me and I was very comfortable with them and all their hard work. Workers were very friendly and were there to answer any questions. What a GREAT EXPERIENCE. What a GREAT COMPANY. This company is run by a man that knows his business. Kelly T. Barry answered my request for a bid on my roof. I'm NOT the kind of guy that enjoys going through contractors with statistics and billing and product information. I wanted someone honest and on time with the workmanship and timing of a reliable project and completion. The first bid was from a company based in LA and after a walk on my roof came up with a bill of over $20,000 and that was the roof alone. Scary! Next, I took a bid from a local contractor that didn't even show up for the meeting and inspection. Big Mistake. Then came Kelly T. Barry and Affordable Roofing Systems. He gave me statistics on material, timing and cost. Now be aware this week was into the 100s and Kelly told me that he and his crew would have it done in 3 days. I asked for a permit and he got the permit, I asked for gutters and downspouts and on the third day his man was there making the gutters and downspouts. They even came in the color of the house, so it was a perfect fit with the perfect color. DONE. The inspector came twice during the project and had NOT ONE PROBLEM on the job. I bought the crew a case of water and a chest loaded with ice. Everyone was happy. I was happy because of Affordable Roofing Systems and the honesty and workmanship of Barry and his crew. Our mid-century modern home has a shallow pitch roof bearing tar and gravel, which many roof inspectors decline to comment on because they are notoriously difficult to read. Kelly brought me up on the roof, showed me everything he saw, and offered concrete advice about how to address the problems and also to extend the life of the roof. He emailed me the next day with a clear concise report laying out his observations and advice, as well as names of maintenance products and where to get them. He was indeed affordable, not to mention personable and experienced. I would certainly enlist him for future inspections, and to do any major roof work. We called multiple roofers to inspect our roof, and suggest whether or not we had any years of life left on our roof. Kelly drove to Belmont, all the way from Martinez to tell us our roof had years left to it. He took my husband on the roof with him, and pointed out minor patch work that needed to be completed. Kelly even suggested that my husband could do the minor work himself, or get someone to fix it for a low price. Kelly left our home, leaving my husband with some tools to assist with our patching of roof- free of charge. We are SO grateful to Kelly. We called multiple roofers right after a hard day of rain and discovered a wet spot on our ceiling. Some folks either didn't call us back or told us they couldn't come out at all. Kelly came within an hour after calling and he explained everything he was doing, accompanied by photos taken. We had cracked roof tiles that enabled water to snake in. Kelly fixed everything and was very friendly and easygoing. Even my dog who is usually wary of strangers walked right up to him and demanded to be pet. Kelly saved the day. Great service at a fair price. Kelly gave us a fair price and though there were other quotes for less, I felt more confident talking with Kelly than the other guys. He was knowledgeable and told us exactly what was going on with the roof. During the install, the crew accidentally let the cable line drape down too far and a large truck drove by and snapped the cable. It cost $50 bucks to have it repaired. I forgot the deduct that on final payment like Kelly told me to do. But when I called Kelly to tell him how much it was and that I forgot, he quickly said no problem and he will send a check. After I requested quotes from 5 companies, Affordable Roofing came in at the middle, but $3,000 less than another highly recommended company, for the same upgraded materials and services (- but excluding a very expensive and complicated attic ventilation system that the other roofer INSISTED THAT I NEEDED!) Since I told Kelly I needed a fairly quick installation to accommodate a solar system install in early September, he was able to schedule the roofing job over the weekend. That is excellent customer service! The whole process from quotes to permits, to removal of the old roof, delivery of materials and installing the new shingles and gutters came off like clockwork.
