Strange Office...I am now a Manager at another Veterinary Practice but was hired here a few years ago...it was bizarre to say the least..one Tech was talking about the Marijuana her neighbor was passing over the porch and the Certified Tech told me "I was lucky" She came in half a day to train me, he kid was sick" ..I have been in this Profession 17 years now and found this the most bizarre experience for the record. I used to like bring my dog there. It was $15 for consultation and a great veterinarian. Dr Fuller was fun, polite and with great knowledge. He only advices procedures that was really necessary. Medication if he knew what the problem was. UNFORTUNATELY he retired. The owner of the clinic Dr. Valerie replace him. Consultation is $30 and all other procedures are not Affortable as you think like the name. Just consultation in cheaper. But if we had great service I would pay anything for My dog . But after MANY problems with Dr Valerie I changed vet. From rush to no specific answers, the answer for everything is antibiotic and do as many procedures as she can. Even on fat bags , normal warts that Dr Fuller told me it was nothing , she wants to zip them all out of an old dog without any reason or necessity! Dental cleaning she said it was urgent. The technician that did the cleaning on my dog said it was easy and simple. 10 min. Not bad at all. The last drop was when I saw the technician for a blood drawn before the dental cleaning appt and even without seeing my dog Valerie send a message that I should give him antibiotics!!! For what ? Again? (Ps: he just had 2 full rounds of antibiotics and I told her nothing has changed. Plus steroids , anti-inflamatório and etc...) No thanks. This place is awesome! My little baby Bear, 15, has been sick and they always fit him in. His last days are so important to me... he's my best friend and they know it! When I take him in the doctor cuddles him and always checks him over regardless of why he's there, even if it's just a runny nose! Other Vets I've been to would just prescribe a medication and be done. True professionals that take their time! Their prices are so much less than other Vets... not sure how they do it? read more

I came into this establishment thinking I would get the answers I was looking for but didn't.. shame. I completely understand the COVID situation and very pleased to know they are following guidelines. Everyone was wearing mask and you have to wear a mask as well to enter. I got my pup in may and the previous owners recommended affordable vet care bc they already brought him there when he was 4 months old and so I decided to stick to the same vet... even tho it's a bit far from my house. I traveled almost an hour to get here. I had a couple of concerns with now my 8 month pup and the tech/assistant was very nice and tried to get my dog to be comfortable around her. Let me just say this, My pup never bite anyone, always wants to play and be friends with everyone! My pup started to growl but he was standing next to me.. he never does that with people and I believe he was just scared bc of the mask.. Once the doctor came, well she never really entered in the room... more like half way in/out the door.. not very comfortable. I mean body language was speaking loud and approached me with "what's with your dogs attitude?" (Because he was growling) Excuse me? He is scared and she wasn't making the situation any better. Not trying to comfort the dog and make him ease up to her. Also, she called my dog the wrong name. Not very professional or she can't read.. She then tried to hand me a paper for dog training, It seemed like she was terrified to enter to room. Like as if he was a pitbull or something, I have a border collie mix 8 month old puppy! More likely scared of her by the way she was acting. I never been to a vet where they didn't touch or fully check my dog. She gave him a diagnosis based on what I told her and didn't bother checking him herself. She gave me two different types of medication for anxiety - I looked them up online- One was for fireworks, Separation anxiety etc. the other one was a sedative/tranquilizer ... Tranquilizer? Why? Just seemed like she was scared to do her job, why are you a veterinarian if you can't do your job properly? & by the looks of the reviews and I agree, she gave me medication just to up the bill. I don't think I needed that tranquilizer... but she is the doctor, right? Smh I received more advice and information from the assistant tech then the actual doctor. Give that assistant a raise or promotion, she was very welcoming, and I felt comfortable around her. I wish I read the reviews before heading to this place. Definitely would not recommend. read more

This place I would recommend to no one if you care about ur animal. I took my puppy here for the first time after moving from out of state. I informed the staff he was very sensitive to vaccines and they were well aware of all his information. They insured me that giving him 3 year rabies and another vaccine combined would be fine and if I needed anything after they gave it to them to call and not to be worried. While on the way home driving my dog had a very serious reaction. I immediately pulled over on the side of the road and called the office for his eyes were rolling in the back of his head and he had went to the bathroom all over him self. He looked at me as if he didn't even recognize me. The girls at the front desk told me the doctor was on her lunch break. I begged them and asked them what I can do at that very moment for I thought my dog was going to die. They said well we don't k ow take him to the ER. If you are at a doctor and you are give a shot by a doctor that doctor should come off of the lunch break to take a call for there patient. I had to take him to the local dog emergency where I had no idea the area I was in for I just was on the highway home. They had to watch him for the next 24 hours and asked why in the world a vet would give a puppy that you told them was sensitive to vaccines a triple vaccine with two more on top of it. I had no idea they told me it was completely fine. The girls at the front desk seemed to think it was "out of there scope". They never called the doctor nor did the doctor ever call me back to check on my puppy. This place is dangerous and I highly recommend no one takes there animal here. read more

I have never heard of a veterinarian not taking new patients in my life. I'm new to the area so I Brought my dogs in to get some blood work done because I believe my dog has heart worms. Unfortunately I was denied service. I would recommend finding another vet that actually cares about animals. read more

I would absolutely not recommend Affordable Vet Care (AVC) in Melbourne, Florida. We are new to the area and after having our chocolate lab at the emergency vet for a urinary tract infection, we followed up with Affordable Vet Care. They did x-rays and labs without abnormal findings. The vet/owner blamed his food. He is on all natural food created by a vet that our old vet recommended. They wanted to do a follow up urinalysis a week after completing antibiotics. I asked for a sterile container. They couldn't find one, but gave me a non-sterile collection tray. I did as they said, took it in, paid $50 bucks. I got a call back a few days later stating the UA was negative. She said, "there was some bacteria, but it wasn't a sterile container." We went to a different vet today because he is still having symptoms. After reviewing the records from AVC, it is apparent that he DID have an infection! In the last UA there were LOTS of bacteria, BLOOD AND CRYSTALS! So... they should have prescribed another round of antibiotics! Instead, our poor pup has gotten worse and lived with an infection, peed in the house multiple times, and started nipping us because he wasn't treated. I'm ticked, to say the least and think Affordable Vet Care is an awful place who just ripped us off. Update: I went in to AVC and spoke with the vet. She apologized and seemed understanding. They were kind. She is giving us a refund for the follow up UA. read more

Post a review on Facebook due to the service that is lacking via office staff. Never mentioned a single thing in regards to the way the doctor was. My complaint was the office staff was unable to do there jobs in the way they need too. More dog was needing a tranquilizer in order to come in due to nerves and being afraid. I called over 5 times the week of the appointment to get the meds and was told they would call me when ready. So I never received the medication then got called that I missed my appointment. I explained the situation and she stated "oh we have them right here for you" meanwhile I would of needed them before the appointment. Now because of my review they will not see my dog. The first two visits had me convinced that I had found the perfect vet for my dog. The vet herself was caring, listened to my concerns and took good care of my dog. The third time wasn't the charm. First of all , I arrived on time for my appointment. But...some other clients came in right behind me apologizing for being late. They were called back first. After a half hour wait, we were called back. That's when the issue started. A tech we had never seen before came in and questioned me about Zona and challenged me on several issues including what I use for flea prevention and actually rolled her eyes when I said I cook my dog's food. After she left I was near tears and decided I wasn't staying. When I got to the checkout desk, the vet appeared and asked what was happening. I told her that some people there disapproved of how I care for my dog. Then, she opened the door for me to leave. No concern at all about what had transpired. Came here the other day based on a referral from a friend at the dog park. It was one of the best decisions I've made since I got my puppy. The vet tech answered all of my questions without making me feel like a fool. I had to bring in my 2 dogs to have their teeth cleaned and I can't say enough about the wonderful care , kindness and compassion of the entire staff. Jessica the Vet Tech who performed the dental cleaning did the best job ever. My husband and I met with her post op after the procedure and she was so kind and caring and explained everything that was done and how to care for the dogs post op. I even got a call at home the day after the surgery checking on the dogs. Dr Joe who we initially saw for the pre op exam was wonderful and very thorough. I highly recommend Affordable Vet Care. Dr. Fuller is a very rude and unprofessional Veterinarian. My cat was sick, vomiting and not eating. I took him here, happy to be seen right away. My cat starting hissing and growling, so I knew it would be a difficult visit. This doctor was not nice. I asked if he was a veterinarian or a tech because he looked and acted like he didn't care about my cat. Yelling at me for questioning his authenticity. He could have shook my hand, introduced himself and at least called my cat by name. I figured he must be a dog person. I told him I did not like his attitude, he could talk to me better, and he screamed "see ya Lady" and left the room. I was crying, the techs told me I should probably go to the clinic down the road. I KNOW there is usually 3 sides to every story, mine, theirs and the real story. I liked this office because the first time I went I had the owner, Dr. Yucius. Terrible customer service at the front desk/front desk incompetence. Our contact information still not correct after 11 months after updating with them 3 times. Our pets shot records, medical records and birthdates mixed up. We were billed AND charged for Heart Guard we never received from 6 months ago with 1 of our dogs and refused to remove from bill from an appointment this week with different dog (8 Aug 17). Now we receive a phone call and asked to find a new vet. Front desk is awful. So, if your information is not correct or you identify problems with the front desk YOU will be asked to leave. Unbelievable! They asked us to come pick up our dogs records and rather than refund our money they finally agree to give us the Heart Guard they made us pay for even when they agreed to only give us 6 months of Heart Guard and would give us the other 6 months when our other dogs came in for their annual checkup. My wife goes immediately to pick up medical records and the Heart Guard. She was treated very rudely. Mystery solved on mixed up dog records, they copied Kiahs records and put in Katchers folder, no wonder they keep mixing them up. THEN when the new vet requests Katchers records, Affordable Vet front desk refuses to send them and will only send information on vaccinations. Really? Actually makes sense since they lost Katchers medical records. STAY AWAY/BEWARE. If I could give them a zero in rating I would. read more

This past weekend, my dog injured her tail. I just graduated nursing school and, needless to say, I'm broke. So Friday night, I used the wound care supplies I had on hand to treat her wound. She didn't sleep well that night. Saturday evening she was showing signs of pain and bit her tail. Ultimately, escalating her minor injury into a major emergency. I can handle a lot of things. Injuries, blood, guts, poop , etc. however, my poor dog was suffering and I broke down. I packed her up and drove her to the nearest emergency clinic. I walked her in with tears rolling down my face and begged for assistance. I explained that I didn't get paid for two days and had minimal money but needed some help. At this point my dogs tail had bone exposed. The tech told me that the visit alone would be $100, before any treatment. I did not have that kind of money so I asked her what I could do to help my dog get through the weekend. I explained that I was a nurse and had access to some Medical supplies, antibiotics, etc. I was told that medical advice could not be given unless my dog was seen. (She HAD been seen at this clinic before so they did have a history on her) the only thing the tech said that I can apply for care credit and if I was approved they could help me. Well, I was declined. I left that hospital heartbroken. I had my puppy in my arms that was crying in pain, bleeding, and at a very high risk of life threatening infection. So from Saturday to Monday I stayed awake with her, nursing her to the best of my ability. Today I called Affordable Vet Care and explained what was happening. Immediately I knew I had found the people that would help me. The lady who answered the phone(Wendy ? I think), was an angel. She explained that today was a surgery day for them and they typically can't see any animals, in my dogs condition,half way through the day, but she told me she didn't care about that Bc my dog needed to be seen ASAP. She told me I might have to wait but to come up there in 20 minutes. I arrived with Zoey(my pup) in my arms and right when I walked in the door I was greeted and taken straight back to a room. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes for a tech to come in, and no more than five minutes later the vet, Dr Yucius, came in to look at Zoey. As I had pretty much already figured out, Zoey's tail needed to be amputated. I was SURE that the cost would be ridiculously high and id be sent home heartbroken again. I was in disbelief when I received the estimate. The total cost for EVERYTHING was the same price as JUST the exam and anesthesia at the emergency clinic. It took some working out but, less than 45 minutes later, my dog was in surgery. The staff at Affordable Vet Care is unbelievably friendly, compassionate, and understanding. Dr Yucius was the sweetest and most understanding vet I have ever met in my life. The staff stayed after close to make sure my dog and I had everything I needed. They all went above and beyond. I was blown away. I was an emotional wreck and tried to get all of their names. But I know I've forgotten and or messed them up. But I believe it was Wendy, Erin, Tamela, the sweetest woman that checked us out (I didn't get her name), and of course, Dr Yucius. They truly made an impact on me. I have decided to make them Zoey's regular vet. I will recommend my friends and family to this practice without reservation. read more
