Paul - (Sales and Service) Talks up a very expensive water softner purification set up - then on a trip to change filters (quoted at $200 or so) tells you that you need "rebedding" and it is $550.00 !!! I'd give a negative number of stars to this company if possible. We ordered salt delivery, and the delivery person, Xavier, was a complete con man. He told us our sump pump was running because of an (invisible) crack in the tank supposedly caused by chlorine in our water. He emptied the tank before my husband could convince him that we would call our own plumber. He said he would send us an email detailing his findings and telling us what repairs are needed. That has never arrived. It turns out the sump pump was running because the softener was recharging at the time. Our plumber confirms that the tank is fine. If our water softener was damaged due to Xavier's sales effort, we will be contacting our attorney. read more

Pushy Sales Tactics I don't doubt that Affordable Water will get the job done and take care of any issues that are at hand, but I don't recommend using them as a service because of their sales tactics and communication. We had them over after we had received other quotes on a new water softener. The owner and son told us that everything could be taken care of day of, which sounds great! They even offered a discount that would only apply day of (because they had the equipment needed on hand and wouldn't have to make another trip out). All of that is fine, but when we decided to not do day of service and forgo the discount, things got really pushy. They wanted to know who else we were talking to about water softeners - even asked for their information (flyer, business cards) and took it with them (unbeknownst to us at the time). They kept questioning why we wouldn't take their offer and didn't accept that we wanted more time to consider everything. By pushing back so much, the situation felt uncomfortable, and it got harder and harder to say "no". I'm so glad we didn't go with them. We saved thousands of dollars by using another service that didn't use any sales tactics or pry into our decision making. They may help you quickly and get the job done, but I'd rather give my money to someone who doesn't push their opinions on me and not accept my decision. read more

Paul and his team are aweosme! I called him due to water issues I was having, and set an appointment for the next afternoon. He was on time, and what I thought was going to be an estimate and waiting time for parts, he was starting on the job in 30 min! Completely replaced my water softener system, RO unit under my kitchen sink, and a new Hot water heater. In about 2 hours he had the water fixed in my house, and I was back on track. We began our experience with Affordable Water a few years ago, I reached out to them after the water system that was present in our house when we bought it failed. I had called a few other companies and none of them could accurately determine what our exact water issue was. Josh from Affordable Water came out and he was able to diagnose exactly what our issue was and what equipment we needed to correct it. Based upon our previous phone conversations, he had the equipment he needed already on his truck and did the install that very same day. It was the Friday before Easter and it was awesome he was able to correct the stinky water issue before our family showed up for the Easter holiday. Our water has been excellent since then. Affordable Water had truly saved the day. Josh helped us make good decisions with good equipment but also with cost in mind. I have referred Affordable Water to my friends as well. Yesterday, Josh from Affordable Water came out for my yearly check-up and everything is fine. While he was here, he pointed out a plumbing issue we had and as a courtesy, he corrected it and charged us much less than if I had called a plummer out of the book and did a wonderful job. He also as a courtesy went through our well tank with me which revealed that it needed to be flushed and required some air as the pressure was low. I now have a better understanding of how my equipment works. I am not one who is easilly impressed and I must say that after several conversations with Josh over the years, his vast knowledge of water treatment and his determination to get things right has won my loyalty. I won't be calling anyone else. Don't call these guys! I called by mistake, and they came out, a father and son, and before I knew it the older guy had taken channel locks to a couple of valves connected to our old water softener. One of those valves we had already had problems with, BUT the other was good, and he stripped it, causing it to leak. I did not see it at the time, because the overflow line through the water softener leads to the laundry tub. They took us upstairs before I could see what he did, and sat us down, starting at $5000, trying to pressure us to buy his system, Then $2500. Then $1500. Then we ended up at $350. During that time he had sent his son downstairs again, doing what i do not know, but I did not like that. By that time I was disgusted with them and when he left he was still yelling out his van window as he drove off, trying to sell us. It cost a real real plumber $125 to fix the valve he broke. I had Mr. Good Water in Belvidere come out 2 years ago. They kept calling telling me I needed to get the filters changed. So I told them ok come on out and replace them. Mr. Good water came out and said they did not have the filters and will order them and get back to me in a day or two. A week later and no call no show. I called them back and asked what was going on. The owner will have to get back to you again no call back. My parents bought a softener and a service contract from Affordable Water INT last fall. My father passed away over the winter in Florida and when my mother returned home, she said her water wasn't right. I checked the softener, it needed salt. She called Affordable Water INT since she had the service contract. The technician was very rude and disrespectful to my mother. He ever spilled salt on the floor and didn't clean it up. My mother called Affordable Water INT yesterday to get her softener refilled and they told her the service contract had expired and she was on her own. She only received 2 visits instead of the 4 quarterly visits she should have received and was treated in a very unprofessional manner. I wouldn't recommend Affordable Water INT to anyone. It seems like they are eager to take someone's money, over $2200 dollars for a water softener (basically the same softener can be purchased at Home Depot for $400) and a 1 year service contract.
