Went the other day. Got a Gyro with extra meat, fries and falafel. The gyro looked like a normal sized gyro. Not very hearty for paying for extra meat. Fries were good and decent size 3 pieces of dry falafel for $6 I could hear and see the employee making the food as we were the only two people in there. I fries and falafel went in the fryer. The gyro spit was not turning and the heat was not on even though there was meat on the spit. I never saw nor heard meat being put on the grill. I did hear the microwave. I asked the employee when she came out with the food if she microwaved it and she lied to my face. When I got the food home 5 mins later the gyro was extremely dry. $30 for a dry, skimpy, microwaved gyro, 3 falafel and some fries. Never coming back. Save your money. Very disappointing. read more

I really wanted to love this place. I adore gyro sandwiches and it seems there are never enough places to get an authentic one. The order process online went smoothly and the food was ready promptly. I was disappointed by the gyro and ended up not eating it. For the uninitiated, a gyro sandwich is a pita bread filled with gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, and sometimes lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The meat is made of a blend of seasoned lamb and beef meat molded around a vertical spit. The spit rotates and the outside is exposed to a heat source. As the meat broils, the chef carves off slices or chunks from the sections that have browned. Typically the gyro meat is cooked to "well done." The meat in my gyro was not browned; rather it was lighter colored and had a mealy mouthfeel. I've eaten gyros in traditional Greek restaurants and casual eateries in Chicago, Austin, San Francisco Bay Area, and now Denver, and this was the first time I've tasted the meat cooked this way. Three stars because the restaurant looked well kept and reasonably clean, the service was polite, and it's possible other people are not bothered by manner of preparation of the gyro. Solid takeout food: went in on a saturday afternoon and ordered a chicken gyro and a chicken loaded cheesesteak. Both were absolutely delicious as far as freshness of ingredients was concerned. They almost blend the chicken mushroom and peppers into a thick mince and it's spiced beautifully in the cheesesteak The gyro was more traditionally apart and a tad dry but perfect with the tzatziki (I would ask for 2) Fries were a solid side. I don't understand all the good reviews? Was this another restaurant at some point and then taken over by this current one? Opening a business is hard and I wish them the best but come on. You have to figure out service, inventory, pricing, while also working on giving your customers good food and value. This place had none of that. I'm not hating or mad or disgruntled, just serious talk this place had none of that. First off, there is nothing "Afghan" about this place. They serve cheesesteaks and gyros primarily. They were out of beef so the kabobs weren't available. They don't have "qabuli palow" either. I ordered a chicken over rice dish and a gyro. Both were very plain, nothing unique or full of flavor as expected from an "Afghan" place. And lastly, the value isn't there. $32 for both items lol. Not sure how long they will last not taking the business seriously like this , but my hope is they improve, listen to their customers and become a real restaurant that shows authentic Afghan flavors, spices, and dishes to the community. This is probably the best value you'll find for Greek food. The food is also better than most. Typically Greek is pretty expensive but there's a lot of options here under $12. The place itself is small, there's limited seating, and most of the table seating is only for two people. I saw a lot of people coming in and getting takeout. If you eat there, you simply order at the front desk and they will bring you your food. The food came quickly, the gyros was our favorite thing. I'll definitely be back. Happy eating! read more

Been there a bunch over the last couple months. Never disappoints, and staff is always friendly.

Went in on a Saturday night a few minutes before 11. The Northglenn/Thornton area had a serious dearth of late night food after Covid, and Afghan Cheesesteak&Gyro has gone a long way toward filling the gap. (For locals: it's in the shopping center at Thornton Pkwy and Washington, next to Country Thai, where the much-loved Frank's Pizza used to be). Service was lightning fast, the place is spotlessly clean, and my falafel+gyros sandwich was as good as, maybe better than, anything in the Pete Contos Greektown places downtown. The tzatziki was smoother and just a little more tart than I'm used to, but I think I like it better. Falafel was properly crisp and crumbly, gyros was rich and meaty, vegetables were crisp and fresh, and the pita was soft and fresh. My side order was onion rings and these are among the best I've had in Denver; no ketchup or sauce needed at all. Service was both quick and unobtrusive. All that, and they're open from 10 am to 1 pm. While I was in there, I saw a half dozen meals for delivery picked up by drivers; I noticed that the meals were carefully and securely packed, and ready when the driver arrived (and also that drivers and counter person seemed to be on good terms, and carefully checked details quickly and efficiently. So: not just a new late night place. My new favorite late night place, and I suspect it will soon be on my go-to list for high quality food right away. Bravo to everyone involved and I hope you're here for twenty years. read more

My husband and I were up in the neighborhood and realized we hadn't had a gyro in a while and decided to stop. Both of us got the Gyro special which comes with seasoned fries and a fountain drink. Ended up being $26.89 which we both thought was a little on the expensive side. The meat was tender and the homemade pita was super soft and delicious. Fries were fine, nothing special. This spot is super lowkey and should not be. This is easily the best cheesesteak I have had in the state, and with that probably the best one I've had in over 5 years across the country. There is so much flavor and depth that you just don't see in your average sandwich. The gyro meat is also delicious loaded with herbs and spices, and the dolma is sweet and delightful. Pretty delicious! The meat was so tender and well seasoned! It was delicious and not messy at all. I've had some gyros that fall apart or are really messy to eat. The is the local spot for homemade Greek food! Located in the Safeway market area, their homemade pita bread is fresh and soft, their gyros are delicious and my favorite is their avgolemono (lemon chicken and rice) soup! It's perfect for a chilly day, rich and hearty - highly recommend! My one request of the owners would be to look into alternatives to all the styrofoam packaging. I'd pay a little more to receive a biodegradable container. read more

It was ok; the chicken made the lettuce somewhat wilted and I guess I was expecting more cubes breast rather than the pieces they used. I tell y'a I am spoiled by Fantastic Cafe in Cali where you can get the best chicken souvlaki. But it did the trick and nourished my body for a few more hours of moving. Ordered the onion rings, and they are different. A little more like burger kings vs real onion. Husband had the hummus and really liked it, again a big portion. It was $22 for a "extra meat, extra sauce gyro plate & a large fry" at least, that's what I ordered, and I'm hoping they mixed our order for other person who ordered a smaller portion. The Gyro meat was basically ground or shredded, idk another way to describe it(not shaved like gyro should be), it was super greasy and hard, and it wasn't enough to make one regular sized sandwhich, although I paid $$ for extra meat. Half the platter was humus! Don't get me wrong I LOVE humus, and thier was decent, but really?? I am trying to support local businesses when I can and I recognize there are many struggles due to the pandemic. However, I felt like a lot of what I saw was inexcusable; the gyros tasted okay, fries were mediocre. The restaurant, which currently does not offer dine in, was so dirty. There was a man *sleeping* on a cot right behind the front counter. I didn't notice it at first with the way the set up was, but then I heard him cough (which made me feel really uncomfortable because it was a pretty gnarly cough). I was floored to see an actual bed set up behind the front counter, with a flannel-type blanket hanging as a cover. It was incredibly unprofessional and felt very unsanitary. The signage is sloppy, restaurant dirty and dusty... I couldn't bring myself to go again because I just don't feel like I can trust the quality of the food or experience. read more

This place is the most delicious and reliable Mediterranean food I've had in Co. I've traveled to the Middle East a lot and crave Med quite frequently. Their hummus is magically smooth, lemony and warm and I think I could probably eat it alone as a main dish. I dream about this fresh amazing hummus! We usually get the platters which are enough for two meals. The falafels are also perfectly crunchy. I think my only complaint is that they are closed Saturday night and Sunday.
