Ethiopian Coffee for an individual @ $6. A larger version for groups goes at $12.

I'm a new fan of this place - tried the lamb tibs dish & the Ethiopian coffee, kind of an acquired taste for the latter but a really cool experience overall. The primary hurdle to get through would be the language barrier, but the staff there try their best to help communicate and introduce you to popular items / I find it's part of the experience to go in with no expectations + a hungry stomach. You gotta live a little. (Get the lamb Tibs with the injera, you'll thank me later)

A view from inside the family room.

This place is a total experience. When we walked in the whole place smelled like frankincense. They have a special section, family room, for privacy/modesty? Lamb tibs was phenomenal. Beef chacha was tasty and nicely spiced with cumin and perhaps coriander, came with cardamom scented rice. Lots of traditional Ethiopian or perhaps Eritrean drinks but no alcohol. Lots of bars nearby for that! Downstairs is a kind of social club like the Portuguese or Italian ones only without alcohol. They have foosball and cards. It's a total scene!

There is a place to make Salaat! It is a halal Eritrean restaurant that has a separate section for families. The food is pretty filling. There are vegetarian options. I feel there is baraka in this food.

Lamb chacha and rice were yummy, and liked most of the things on the vegetarian platter!

We have been to many Ethiopian restaurants around US and other part of the world but no other Ethnic food is better than Selam Restaurant. The food is very delicious and the customer service is one of its kind. I will recommend to everyone to try this healthy and delicious food with welcoming and warm hospitality.

We sat in the front where there is like a tent and you could see outside interestingly enough after the front area you have the bar area and then the back area. Most of the people decided to sit at the back area, (more condensed tables) which I feel less cosy. There was a tent area in the very back, set up for a large group. In any case, it's great that they serve a variety of alcoholic drinks and has lounge atmosphere in the front area. They play instrumental music without lyrics that is very relaxing. Ordered the SELAM special for two it included three veggies and the chicken and beef tins which were not a lot of meat to be honest so we added a side of kitfo which was actually a good portion of meat. If I had the SELAM special for two without adding the extra, I would've been very disappointed as the meat amount is very little. The cost was $40 for the platter and $12 extra for the kitfo.
