    Wazema platter for 2

Wazema a very popular family-run restaurant especially known for authentic and flavourful, Injera Platters (meat & veggies) which include both meat and veggie options. It also offers an amazing variety of vegetarian dishes and classic Ethiopian favourites like Doro Wot and Zil Zil Tibs and Shiro Wot. It was our first time trying Ethiopian food and found the dishes to be flavourful and paired perfectly with the freshly made Injera bread. We had the Wazema Platter for 2, Doro Wot, Zil Zil Tibs & Shiro Wot. The restaurant has a welcoming ambience and their staff is very friendly and helpful.

Wazema is a highly-rated, family-run restaurant on the Danforth known for serving authentic, richly spiced Ethiopian cuisine, particularly famous for its generous platters and late-night atmosphere. Highlights: The Food: The menu is extensive, offering excellent options for both meat-eaters and vegans/vegetarians. Dishes are served on large sheets of injera (sourdough flatbread) for communal, hand-fed dining. Must-Try Dishes: The Wazema Platter (combining various meats and veggies) and the Veggie Delight (which features flavorful stews like misir wot and gomen wot) are the most popular choices for sharing. The Kitfo (finely chopped raw or lightly cooked beef) is also highly praised. The Vibe: The restaurant often transitions into a more "club-like" atmosphere in the evening, sometimes featuring live music or dancing, making it a great spot for a vibrant and social dining experience. Tip: If you prefer a quieter meal, visiting earlier in the day is recommended. They are also well-known for their delicious Ethiopian coffee ceremony on certain evenings.

This was our first time here and our waitress was amazing. I'm sorry I don't get your name but we came back in kinda later and it was our first time and you suggested that plate that had different meats on it. Thank you so much I enjoyed my experience and I loved the food especially for my first time trying Ethiopian food. We will be back.

This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I am blown away. Everything was perfectly seasoned, there were no funky textures, nothing was greasy or oily, and was altogether delicious!!!!! The Wazema platter had Kitfo, Tibs, split peas, lentil, mild split peas, cabbage, and a salad dish. The photo is the Wazema platter for one which was $16 but it can easily be a two person meal as my girlfriend and I shared it and felt full afterwards. As soon as I finished I knew I had to look up Ethiopian food in Mississauga but was sad to find out there was none. I will be coming back here with the rest of my family at some point in the future as it is a long ways from my house but it is well worth it! Highly recommend!!!!

Vegetarian platter for 3 with timatim fitfit

Wazema has a lovely, dimly-lit, more upscale interior than other Ethiopian restaurants I've been too. We had the vegetarian platter (for 3 of us) with timatim fitfit, which is this spicy and refreshing dish with tomatoes, chilies, and injera. Food was delicious, but serving portions were a little small for three people (see photo), and considering the portions, a little bit pricey. If you're looking for a nicer Ethiopian place to go to, this sits on par with Pero for me. But for your more casual fare, there are other places to get better bang for your buck.

This is probably the fourth Ethiopian restaurant I've tried and this ranks at the top for quality and quantity! The atmosphere of this place is more like a bar/lounge and apparently there is live music in the evening at 10pm, but we simply came here for the food. Service was decent, but can be more attentive considering it wasn't that busy there. No need for reservations on a Saturday for dinner unless you're planning to be there for the live music. If you're unsure what to get and there are at least two of you, get the Wazema platter for two, three or four! You get a mix of flavourful meat and veggie dishes plus a salad in the middle. They give you plenty of injera as well.

Mix of different dishes we ordered for 5 people to share!

Delicious Ethiopian food! Not too oily and the flavours were just right. We had the Bozena Shiro, Cha Cha Tibs, quanta firfir and Vegetarian for 2, for around 5 people to share. We got a mix of pure Teff injera and mixed flour Injera. It was an enjoyable evening and the service was friendly. Will definitely make this a regular go to spot for my Ethiopian food craving!

A large crowd of 10 dined yesterday at Wazema. The food was delicious and the server (Eden) was amazing. We will definitely come back again.

We have been to many Ethiopian restaurants around US and other part of the world but no other Ethnic food is better than Selam Restaurant. The food is very delicious and the customer service is one of its kind. I will recommend to everyone to try this healthy and delicious food with welcoming and warm hospitality.

We sat in the front where there is like a tent and you could see outside interestingly enough after the front area you have the bar area and then the back area. Most of the people decided to sit at the back area, (more condensed tables) which I feel less cosy. There was a tent area in the very back, set up for a large group. In any case, it's great that they serve a variety of alcoholic drinks and has lounge atmosphere in the front area. They play instrumental music without lyrics that is very relaxing. Ordered the SELAM special for two it included three veggies and the chicken and beef tins which were not a lot of meat to be honest so we added a side of kitfo which was actually a good portion of meat. If I had the SELAM special for two without adding the extra, I would've been very disappointed as the meat amount is very little. The cost was $40 for the platter and $12 extra for the kitfo.
