This place is no joke. Take my money. Incredible and rare selection. Great people that run the place.

Great selection, great service. The guys who work here know their stuff. Impossible to leave without buying at least one LP.

A chill place to read books and drink tea. Very calm, peaceful vibes here. About 8 indoor seats…read moreand more outdoor seats/tables in the patio section. A mix of classic and eclectic selection of books is available, and the tea menu is small and slightly expensive. Staff is very friendly and kind. Bathroom is clean and you don't need to order anything to use it. Ordered the turmeric ginger tea. It was decent. We got gently kicked out of the patio area for a book reading by a local author, which was pretty cool of the place to support.

Hidden gem!! This place is such a calm, well curated environment with careful interior design,…read morecurated used books, and a short but intentional & thoughtful menu. They only serve wine and tea with very few options, but they are great options, and I loved my wine. The menu was also handwritten on a library book receipt. Very cute and shows dedication to the theme. I went for a drink with a friend before dinner for my birthday and loved it. I came a different time during the day and bought a book and a sketchbook. It's fun to come here alone or with others. The service is good, and the prices of the books are good - could be lower for used books, but considering how well chosen they are and how nice the place is, the price makes sense. The cost of the drinks is standard for NYC. There is also outdoor seating!!

Burroughs when I was in here. It made me want to be in a white button down with the sleeves rolled up, tucked into some pinstripe suit pants, with some trendy glasses on while I rip away at a typewriter between puffs of a cigarette. Instead I was in short shorts and a plain white T smh. Shelves of thoroughly used books engulf the walls, smooth jazz plays subtly in the background, as the young patrons of Bushwick have intimate conversations. A lot of passion in here. A lot of freedom. I got an americano because I'm beast, and the espresso was quality. I knew I was in good hands when one of the Bushwick creatives was making it. Not much else I need in this life than a cozy book store and good espresso... well a couple hundred million would be nice too. Ig @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

Checked out Molasses Books over the weekend and really liked the concept and shop…read more It's mostly a used bookstore, with a couple of new book offerings, some seating around the shop and a bar area with a few chairs that sells coffee, beer, and wine. I ordered a cappuccino that was good. Nice espresso and froth. I walked around the store and ended up buying a book. Prices are good for the books and pretty decent for the coffee. It can get a little hard to find seating if it's busy as it's a small shop but lots of great books to choose from. Service is okay, not the friendliest. Would come back and buy more books/coffee

Such a warm, welcoming space! Love supporting woman-owned, Black owned businesses and this one…read morereally delivers on community & vibe. The staff was super attentive and friendly. They asked what we were curious about reading wise, gave some recommendations and walked us through their selection & upcoming events. And the playlist?! I was humming the second I walked in. Shoutout to whomever is curating the music They have a cute little menu with teas & coffees, and they partner with Sundays Only Biscuits. I tried the garlic and herb + peach cobbler. They were soft and delicious, garlic and herb was my fav! They also have a downstairs with a bar (I will be back for a glass of wine)! Def a spot I'll be coming back too!

I love that it focuses on queer writers as well as writers of color. They had a great selection and I left 3 books later and had a delightful matcha latte and a mimosa. I intentionally have been supporting local businesses with a focus on Black and minority owned businesses. I'm excited to dive into these books during the colder months which tend to be my recluse season. They also serve brunch on weekends, have a ton of community events and talks. They also have a beautiful lounge downstairs where they serve wine after 5pm. They also have a really pretty outdoor area in the back but it was a little too chilly to sit back there and read. I can just imagine how great it'll be in the warmer months. I can just picture myself, perched on a seat, sipping on my matcha...and mimosa reading a good book! Check em out. Support a local business and spark the joy of reading again. With so much technology sometimes we lose the joy of reading and expanding our imagination!

This bookstore has a great selection of new books, some of which are signed by the author (but you might need to look a bit hard to find them - it's not easily displayed as it could have been). Part of the reason of it being 4 out of 5 stars. Another reason why it's 4 out of 5 stars is because this location doesn't have a cafe like the other locations - which I appreciate since it makes McNally a true third space for New Yorkers to enjoy. Instead, this location feels more like a take-out/convenience store type of bookstore even though there is one or two chairs placed upstairs that are optimally placed.

The beauty of McNally Jackson is they do a splendid job curating their selections; there are tables throughout the store with thoughtful staff recommendations. If you haven't had time to read reviews or catch up on new releases then don't worry: you can simply browse these tables and walk away with something you'll enjoy - this goes for literary magazines too. Beyond their selection, their beautiful light wood bookcases make for a calming browsing experience. The staff is also highly knowledgable and friendly - I have enjoyed many book conversations with them here throughout the years.
