    Beef pattie.
    Alishia H.

$4 for dry beef patties. No, thanks. Pretty sure I read the beef Pattie was $2.50. Overpriced or overcharged and the quality lacks.

Failure to acknowledge wrong item sent but kept my $5 up charge.

TRASH!!! No flavor. The only thing I got worth eating was the hot sauce. Second time ordering via a delivery service. I was not content the first time but I opted to try again. ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTED. Food: Ordered hot sauce, fufu, oxtail meal with greens (cabbage and "collard"), plantain and JOLLOF rice ($5 up charge). King fish meal with fricassee sauce, yellow rice, greens and plantain, sorrel and cassava leaf stew. Oxtail tasted like only cooked in salt water. Not salty but no flavor, Caribbean nor African. Mostly tender but bland. No jollof rice although I paid extra. King fish dry as the Sahara and the fricassee, not sure what you tube taught them. As a Jamaican, ketchup only would have been better. Plantains were good, 4 pieces per plate. Greens were so-so with just salt for seasoning. Called the restaurant directly to inquire about up charging me for jollof rice but sending yellow rice. He called me a liar and said I never ordered Jollof rice, never was up charged and it was an Uber issue. So, bland food AND VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THIEVES. See pics.

I've tried Africaribbean multiple times because I didn't want to write it off, but it's just OK. The jerk chicken is not spicy and dry and needs more sauce/gravy. I recently ordered from Door Dash and I asked for extra sauce and the chicken was still dry.

I've tried the curry goat, escovitch and fricassee chicken. All have been amazing, food Is fresh and employees are friendly. I like the touch of care they provide by letting me see the food prior to putting in the Togo bag.

I was actually trying to get some clam chowder soup from next door at S&S Seafood next and they ran out so I tried this place. Now I ordered the Ox tails and Curry Goat combo. They give you a lot of food. The oxtail were really tender. The curry goat was not. They needed about another hour of cooking. I also got a side of cassava leaves. They taste like grass but I have had some that were delicious from another carribean spot. The sad part is the meal was close to $32 for disappointment.

    This is "extra sauce".

Gave it another go and the chicken was fine but the sauce dry. They don't get rid of food after its been out for hours....

    Jerk Chicken, Jollof Rice, Plantains

The chicken is dry but overall it's great taste. I wish it was spicier. The mixed greens is good and Jollof rice is good too. Side note: Request for sauce if have any available

Great food! Great customer service! I always get the steamed king fish platter with jollof rice with curry sauce all over + cabbage/mixed greens + plantain -- a hit every time!

Based on the number of times I've been here, I really need to give their food full points. I can't vouch for authenticity of either Caribbean or African food, but I can tell you that the food is great. The service is decent, has definitely improved, but I think since it's a small business, they have few employees and it can sometimes be slow. But everyone is really nice and courteous. We always get the curry chicken and jerk chicken meals. We get the jollof rice and it also comes with plantains (like 2 or 3 max...) and sweet greens. The rice has a slightly sticky texture and looks peppery but it's a little savory without spiciness. The plantains are awesome-- the edges are always slightly crispy to perfection so you get a slight crunch and it's never dry. I thought i wouldn't like the greens but they're also great: cabbage cooked very well without bitterness, with sugar or something added to give a slight sweet flavor. The chicken...falls off the bone...melts in your mouth. I'm not a huge fan of bone pieces but I'll deal with it. I can see why people might say it's bland, because the curry isn't spicy at all...but it still has allot of flavor. The jerk chicken is a little spicier but also could be worse. My biggest complaint is that they always run out of chicken patties. These are pastries filled with curried ground meat (spicy or not spicy). They are yummy!! They also run out of plantains every once in awhile. Overall... I think I need to venture into other things on the menu. Next time I vow to do it.

First time purchasing food from here. I had the jerk chicken, with jollof rice, plantains, and mixed greens. Everything was really good. Staff was friendly. Not too crowded. Will definitely eat here again.

Great ice cream stop with nostalgic feels!…read more If you looking to satisfy the sweet tooth in between errands, driving through the dreadful Route 210 rush hour, or just looking to put the world on pause for a minute....and treat yourself....this place is it! Hovermale's, located off the Route 210 Highway and Palmer road has been throwback staple and stop for decades. It is a small family owned ice cream shop that keeps things simple and oh!....did I say soooo good. Just pulling up to the place takes you back in time. They offer your standard cream cone and try tested in through favorites, such as ice cream sundaes floats, ice cream cake cups, and banana splits. The base flavors tend to be vanilla, chocolate, and/or swirled. What makes this place special is how they take your standard ice cream flavors and load them with lots of great toppings, such as pineapple, butterscotch, cherry, strawberry, hot fudge, marshmallow and my favorite.....caramel & pecans! They also serve sandwiches like hotdogs, chili-dogs and half smokes. My go to is the chocolate-vanilla swirl cone! You can always go with single flavors served on a cone or in a cup. But...I mean, who doesn't get down the swirl?!! lol. Not to mention, the portion sizes are huge and worth the price point. I tend to order a small or medium swirl ice cream cone and it comes out looking like I just ordered a pint of ice cream on a cone....see pics. But, who's complaining ....certainly not me! lol In all, you can't go wrong making it stop here. Hovermale's is one of those places that take you back into a moment of time when things were much simpler and laid back. It ones of those places as I mentioned before that's a great stop to make for yourself or family.....and put the world on pause for a minute while enjoying a cool treat....untethered, unwired, and unbothered. Just bliss! For those not local, this is a very small location with service via the window, standing room, and no bathrooms. Parking is limited and confined to a parking lot at their location where will find folks sitting in their cars, enjoying ice cream. There is no street or side road parking. Also, don't get scared off by the line (if there is one); it moves quickly! :-) I highly recommend a stop at this nostalgic treasure, in the Fort Washington, MD area. You will not be disappointed.

The main concern we have is with the STAFF, all 3 of them. As I walked in (delicious smell btw), I immediately commented on the pralines he was making and said "hi, those look delicious". He looked at me, no smile and said nothing so I repeated myself. Again, nothing but a mean look on his face so I moved on. The other two weren't friendly either but at least I got the one serving me the apple to comment on her favorite flavor with some nudging. She had the longer hair. We faired no better with the one serving the ice cream. We gave up at that point on trying to ask questions or make polite conversation. The chocolate cone didn't taste that fresh... but it was still good. My friends didn't really like their strictly strawberry, strawberry cheesecake, or coffee flavors that much though. The worker did make a remark in front of all the customers saying they need to stop working here during the summer and seemed stressed. Eh, I found this place to be just okay…read more The inside is okay. Late on a Saturday night, there's a mix of regular folks, parents with small children getting a weekend treat, and folks with the munchies who just have to have a cookie. Biggest complaint - there are several TV screens, but only one has pricing, one has drinks, and the other was just random shots of stuff they sometimes have. I wish one of them had "current cookie offerings" (it rotates) because otherwise, you had to wait until you got to the front of the line to see what there was, and then people are waiting for you to make up your mind. It just added pressure to what is supposed to be an enjoyable cookie experience. It's not a cheap place (it's a bougie dessert place in NoVa; what do you expect?), but the monster cookies are large and filling and easy to share. We got a half dozen for our family of 5 and that was plenty. We even got an Oat Milk brown sugar tea - it was fine. The whole place is vegan, which does add to the price point, but if that matters to you, this is a good place to get your cookie on. That said, I don't know if it was the lack of egg, or that the monsters were underbaked, but I found the cookies just heavy. The two I will vouch for were the chocolate chip (classic, can't beat it), and the cinnamon roll - I kept coming back to that one. The rest were pretty meh. Service was okay. We had to wait for the next batch of chocolate chip cookies to come out of the oven. I get it, though it took longer than estimated. The weird part was, in the whole time we were sitting waiting (and everyone else had ordered), the clerk handed me my half dozen box and I had to remind her of our drink. Sweet, but spacey. In the end, if you like fancy cookies and/or vegan sweet treats, you might want to give this place a try. Otherwise, you can get plenty of other desserts along King Street.
