For example I'm pretty white but I have cool undertones so "Olive" is the right formula for my skin tone. She is able to match you visually and she's spot on! So happy I found Alysa and Afterglo Beauty! Myself and a few friends recently started going here and we are all hooked! This was my first experience getting a professional spray tan, so I was super nervous about standing naked in front of a stranger. I would typically just go to the machine spray tan booths, or do it myself, but I was tired of having the noticeable splotches around my wrists and ankles. Let me tell you....the $10-$15 extra bucks you pay to come here vs. Itan is SOOO worth it. First of all, Alysa is extremely sweet and non judgmental. She makes you feel extremely comfortable as soon as you walk in. I didn't once feel awkward in front of her. I get the express tan and the next day, you wake up with a perfect natural bronze glow! She blends out your wrists/ankles with a sponge so that everything blends perfectly together. My tan ends up lasting about a week! TIPS: - PLAN AHEAD!! I usually get my tan the day before my event or vacation. When you first leave the salon, you are going to look like an oompa loompa! No seriously....I get so many weird looks when I run into people after I leave the salon. So keep that in mind when you make your appt time. Plan to take a shower about 3-4 hours after the session. Timing is extremely important here. When you first rinse off, you are going to cry and think all your tan just washed off. Don't worry!! In about 6 hours the tan will come back! Promise. Again, this is why I do it the day before, so that when you wake up the next morning, the tan will be perfect. - Exfoliate/Shave the day before with soap/water - Avoid putting on any lotions/creams 24 hours before your tan - Wash your face and armpits before your appt - Wear loose/baggy clothing , and no bra. (My bra gave me a tan line even though I took it off during the spray session) TIMING: I personally think 3 hours & 45 min was the perfect color for me. It looked like I had just spent a solid weekend in the sun, but still looked very natural. The 1st time I did 2 hours, and I barely noticed a tan (my friend felt the same way about hers). This review is long overdue. The first time that I worked with Alysa, it felt like it was one of my friends giving me a spray tan. She made me feel very comfortable and was quick to know which solution we should use for my skin. I've gotten more spray tans with her since then but one that really stood out is when I had multiple people ask if I got a spray tan. One person was one of my Pilates instructors and one was a photographer, both of which see a lot of spray tans come through their doors. To be able to make these two question whether or not I got a spray tan is hats off to Alysa. Going beyond that, she is always very accessible before and after my sessions. Her place is very professional and she definitely does make you feel welcomed. In my honest opinion i didn't like how she used one color for everyone, because everyone has a different skin type. My sister and I came in and received the same color. My spray tan came out oranger and she came out orange in more areas than others. I called her to tell her about how orange I was. I followed her directions after the call and was embarrassed by my hands and feet the day of my shoot. Luckily I was able to scrub some of the tan off to make it look a little better. She is actually located inside a cute boutique hair salon. She has a room that is her little nail/tan cave. Oh my gosh, I have been going to big box tanning places forever. NOT ANYMORE! My experience with Alysa was by far the best I've ever had. The reviews are true people, you will not be disappointed. Before going I was a little nervous about how it would come out since I've only done the Versa Spa or Mystic before. I had called her to explain two engagements that I wanted my tan for and she spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me explaining what services would be better and what would work for the days I needed it to. She also explained the Pre-Spray procedure and what I needed to do. Since I came in later in the day I got the Express. The tanning experience was great. I never felt uncomfortable or awkward being stark naked with her. We had a great convo and talked about everything. She is super personable and you feel like you've known her forever. The solution smells amazing and she is so meticulous about all parts of it so you don't even look like you got a spray tan!! After the tan, she went over After-Spray care and I followed it to a T that's why I think my tan lasted as long as it did. My Tan lasted perfectly for both events that were 11 DAYS apart.
