My cousin and I had our make-up and hair done by Samaa. We were so upset by the outcome. Our hair was not at all what we asked for. And our makeup was just awful. In my case, my foundation was a lot darker, she didnt properly place the lashes, I asked her if she could please have it fixed and stated that it was placed perfectly fine. My eyebrows were poorly done, declined to fix that as well. My husband was so upset when he saw me and could not believe that we paid for such a poor job done. I've been going to her for 2 years now, and have been meaning to make this post every single time I've had my hair done, but kept getting distracted. Sammaa is absolutely the queen of the bead hair extension type and knows many other kinds as well. Because I get bead ones though, that's what I want to share about. Her technique is unlike any of the many different people I've tried before I was lucky enough to find her! I can go on average 5 months and in that time maybe 1-2 of them come out. And her highlights are so tiny and intricate making them look so natural and high end (because they are!), but for the best price you could ever find with such great quality. She repairs my old extensions if I can't buy new ones, makes my brand new ones out of donated human hair by coloring them exactly to my color whenever I can buy new ones, and then also makes the installation process so smooth, fun, and truly expresses her passion for her work not just through the hair, but in the way she cares about you as a person and brings you coffee or little gifts. She's honestly not just my hair hero, she's my very valued friend that I look up to and admire so much. Love her with all my heairt lol. Also this salon as a whole is quite beautiful and is filled with not only great hair dressers, but also great makeup artists. The atmosphere is elegant, fun, and professional. SAVE YOURSELF......DO NOT GO TO ZARINA BAZAN!!! I came in for dark brown to golden blonde ombre and a trim. Left with red/orange roots, brown and yellow ends. The color was horrible. However, the cut was atrocious and worse than the color. After she said she would only cut 1 inch off, Zarina cut 3-4 inches off and left choppy layers all over my head that looked like a 5 year old cut my hair. I would never trust Zarina with my hair ever again, even to attempt to correct the messed up job she did. She is the most unprofessional and terrible stylist ever. Rafi is an exceptional hair stylist. It is very hard to find a stylist of his caliber. I've been in San Diego for 9 years, and only started seeing Rafi about 2 years ago. Before that, I went from stylist to stylist, paying prices that were all over the place, all for cuts and colors that I was never happy with. I'm so glad I found Rafi (thanks Amy!) Just to drive the point home -- I recently had to leave town for an extended period, and was forced to go to someone else while I was away. I was concerned about maintaining the style and color that Rafi had created, so I went to someone highly recommended and paid $400 per visit (twice, for color touch-ups--in NYC, but still). Unfortunately, that very well paid "stylist" turned me platinum blonde and fried my hair. Thankfully, Rafi got me back on the road to beautiful hair when I got back to town. I was never so happy to see my stylist! If you're in San Diego, it's is well worth the drive out to El Cajon. I'm there in 20 minutes from my place in University Heights. read more
