I had been emailing Silver from customer service for weeks before my sister, my son and I could get down to Miami. I met Anna the area supervisor as well as her crew members (one was a former police officer). I found them to be friendly and sympathetic enough to work with us on price and billing. Aftermath was fraudulent, negligent, price gouging, incompetent and breached our contract because they covered over the biohazard dead body fluids leaving a terrible death stench and a fly and maggot infestation damaging 6 other condos and a hallway and yet certified that all biohazard dead body fluids were removed. Aftermath price gouged by charging $36,733.50 taking 3 WEEKS to NOT REMOVE all the body fluids when BIO-ONE DAYTON COMPLETELY REMOVED ALL THE HAZARD FLUIDS IN 1 DAY FOR LESS THAN HALF THAT PRICE! This depleted the insurance of needed funds to restore the condo because Bio-One had to redo the job. Aftermath fraudulently claimed to be a full bio hazard removal company but they do not remove flooring necessary to remove seeping bio-hazard body fluids in flooring. They breached our contract by not informing us another company was needed & did not test the surfaces as promised. This violates their own principles as Aftermath's co-founder said, "There is no other way to clean the damage but to remove all affected materials...if tiles are simply wiped down, the remaining bio matter can spread disease, release odors and further damage property." Aftermath was incompetent because they didnt even know the OSHA & Building & Zoning regulations for removing flooring & ceiling drywall and falsely accused Bio-One of violating these regulations. Aftermath was negligent in not removing all the body fluids that obviously seeped down into the bare cement cracks that the body laid on undiscovered for over 2 1/2 weeks. Aftermath offered an unfavorable settlement because it wasnt enough to restore the condo and pay for damages they caused. They tried to tell me I could not make my scheduled payment and had to pay the full $7000 payment. I HAD TO PROVIDE THE WIGNED PAYMENT PLAN TO THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE AO UNORGANIZED. We did find the employees to Be incredibly nice and very young for the profession, but after researching the company I found compelling evidence they are paid about $20-$25 an hour x2. I really can't put into words how grateful I am for the team I met at Aftermath. Tyler, Dillon, and Misty were my guardian angels in a time I didn't know how I'd get through. I had no clue this was even a job. I'm forever grateful to the kindness, patience, and thoroughness they showed me. Especially Tyler. Tyler was so amazing through the entire process and really helped me feel at ease during such a distressing time. My only reason for not giving an extra star is the pricing. Unfortunately, without insurance it is EXPENSIVE. Although they are an emergency specialized service, I was not prepared for the cost. They can't start cleaning until they see the unit, and you don't know the cost until after they've seen the unit. So basically had an hour to come up with $2,000 (30% of total). Regardless, it is necessary and they did such an amazing job. I'm forever grateful to the three individuals I met that day. This company is absolutely shameful. First of all, they GROSSLY overcharge for their services. Please, shop around. Call Servpro, ServiceMaster etc. They try to persuade families who are going through sometimes the worst moments of their lives to just let them bill the insurance. They don't tell you that insurance may not cover it at all or not all of the cost. They also don't mention that your insurance premiums will rise substantially for years to come due to the fact that they overcharge and rack up huge bills. Instead, call your insurance company, get an adjuster and let them help you. Many times, their staff has been known to steal from homes they are servicing. They will claim it was affected with biohazard and had to be thrown away. They will preach that their way of cleaning is the right way and will try to intimidate families into believing that nobody else can do it properly. Their "proprietary chemicals" are nothing but hydrogen peroxide, Husky cleaner etc. just relabeled under their name. Please, do not fall victim to their scams and rip offs. HORRIBLE DISHONEST COMPANY I had to hire Aftermath to come clean up a suicide, I was going through the worst thing that has happened in my life to date. The lady i spoke with over the phone said they clean up the house and fix everything, they quoted me $14k to provide this service, i agreed to the fee because she told me it was clean up and restoring the house to the original way it looked. That was NOT the case, they wanted to charge $14k just to clean up, and on top of that their tech smoked in my smoke free home, they made more of a mess out of my home then the initial cause. They cut walls that didnt even need to be touched, cut up part of the floor in an area that was not affected. I could go on with so many things that were not done correctly the above are just a few.. While still trying to fathom my brother's death, they shuffled papers in front of my mom for her to sign and "forgot" to leave her copies. It was a relatively small clean-up which we probably could have done on our own, but who's thinking straight at a time like that - and that is what they take advantage of. Our family suffered a loss at the hand of their own. It was a devastating scene, as one could imagine; I found Aftermath's reviews for services such as this and called them the day it happened as the scene was still taped off, and investigated. Aftermath was understanding that I was still in shock, still processing and trying to get things cleaned up so my father could return home. Aftermath's team was en route less than 12 hours after the call. We were set up with Kristin as our care handler, Fritz as our lead tech, and Marquel who was tech assistant, along with Jeannie McCaughn Project Manager, and Latisha Goodloe in billing/insurance. This has to have been one of the best groups of teams to step up and assist; they ran like a smooth sailing yacht in the rough seas that were my mind at the time. I can't express how much I appreciate them and the incredible job that they did. They worked directly with my parents' insurance company to make things come together for us smoothly. I left them the key to the home outside, and saw that they reviewed the images/video and found the key successfully, and were able to get into the home via the security system; I saw they removed and took great care not to cross-contaminate or expose the contents of the room to any other part of the house. They communicated with me on everything and sent photos, videos, and multiple calls and texts about the specifics of the cleaning. The kindness, warmth and great attitudes they demonstrated honored my dear neighbor. They were professional, compassionate, caring and efficient. While I was not a family member, my neighbor entrusted me to execute his post-mortem wishes to the letter. This team was required to handle some of his possessions (books) in the course of doing their tasks. They spoke respectfully of his books and personalized their experience by complimenting his amazing library and saying to me he must have been a wonderful and interesting person. My elderly aunt made a bloody mess in her condo. Paramedics suggested this type of service to clean it. I called Aftermath -they arrived w/i 5 hours. She was to get a written estimate b4 the work started. Reality was that 2 cleaners and 1 supervisor showed up at her condo - later invoice listed 4 workers. Cleaners started right away, not waiting for approval of the estimate. Supervisor did not point out the $11300 cost estimate to her, as she initialed 20 minutes into the job. She saw $500 as the cost, which turns out to be Aftermath's estimate of her homeowner's deductible. They left her no paperwork, submitted it direct to Allstate. They did not get the candy-bar sized bloodstain out of the carpet, but did do the kitchen & hall cleanup well. They were there 2 hours ($5000/ hr?). Allstate later stated there was a $9000 cap on this type of claim. I think Aftermath took advantage of her. She would have declined if she knew it was $11,300. Insult to injury, they even had her initial a Consumer Fraud booklet from the State Atty General. Outcome was OK - Allstate got the price down to $7000 w 1 call, so she was covered. But I have to question Aftermath's ethics and their billing practices. This was a small job - they should have declined it or made certain that this is what she wanted. Not my home. ServPro bid $3-5k to tear out walls and flooring and clean personal property items. This company bid $32k and could not provide any paperwork to validate the figures. They weren't sure how much of the drywall or flooring would need to be removed, they pressured my aunt to keep things that she asked to have thrown away (so they could charge more to "clean"??), they wanted to clean two rooms when the loss happened in 1 and the direction of the fluid would not likely have gone into the second area. It seemed like overkill, but they talked a good game and made it seem like the only way to truly clean the home was to use their methods. They said that my aunt would not be liable for more than 1/2 her deductible and they were ready to start immediately. They told her not to worry about their pricing because her insurance company would pay for it, they do all the time. So, we said yes and let them get to work. My aunt was sure the house smelled and I think she needed the piece of mind that the mess was being cleaned out. They told her that they are all about the family of the deceased and my aunt was their primary focus.... yet immediately asked that she post a google review- and then called 2 days after the work was finished to ask if she had been able to do a review yet. What?! When someone passes away- unexpectedly- filling out a google review is so low on the priority list. Why would this company think it was ok to call my aunt and badger her about posting a review? Well, in looking at the comments on yelp, I see why they need it. I support the comments previously posted: this company price gouges in hopes that the carrier pays the bill in full. In speaking with a contractor friend who also works with insurance companies, I was told that actual cost of doing this work was less than $5k, but they are billing $32k in hopes of getting $20-25k from the insurance company. Seems a bit like preying on victims of unfortunate circumstances and since there is a special certification required to do this work, they get away with it. Do yourself a favor- talk to your claims adjuster before saying yes to this company. I think they choose to come afterhours just so your insurance company is closed for the day. Before they show up, find out for sure if your policy has a limit for forensic cleanup and find out what would or would not be paid for by your policy. Chemicals? Mold mitigation? Don't fall into the trap- ask every policy question you can with your insurance company before signing on the dotted line with these folks. read more

This company hounded my sister and demanded payment for their absurdly over-priced services after the tragic death of my 15-year-old nephew. They called and emailed my sister everyday for payment beginning less than a week after my nephew's death. Their behavior was despicable, especially for a company that promotes itself as being sympathetic to families who have suffered a tragedy. In addition, their behavior was illegal, as a consumer has a minimum of 30 days to make payment in most states, including ours. My sister had to hang up on them twice and beg them not to continue calling. She paid them in full within 3 weeks of her son's death. We have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. We call and their team showed up within hours. The supervisor we dealt with was kind, courteous and absolutely professional.
