What stood out most was how much life there was in the community. There was music, activities, resident dogs roaming the halls, laughter, and genuine joy. Residents are encouraged, not forced, to participate, and they're cared for as individuals, not patients. The community is clean, the residents are well cared for, and you can genuinely feel the love. My dad eventually transitioned to Silverado Hospice, and his passing was peaceful. During those final days, the staff cared for our family just as much as they cared for him. They brought us meals, checked on us constantly, and surrounded us with compassion during one of the hardest times of our lives. We will always be grateful for the love and dignity they gave my dad. If you're looking for memory care for someone you love, I can't recommend Silverado highly enough.

During the past several months while my sister has lived with you, we have heard so much uplifting…read moremusic. My sister has always loved music and she sang in the church choir. I was always proud to stand next to her in front of God when she sang Ave Maria. She is an Angel. The music we hear in the main living room is mostly 1950s. Even though I was born in the sixties, my sister was born in the forties. I know all the songs. Saturday, she will move on to the next phase of her life and the next phase of her dementia. Maybe she will arrange flowers with Vinnie for the dining room while we prepare her few remaining belongings for the journey. Her room at the new place will be smaller so she won't be taking her furniture. I'll keep it for her because it's a special wood her late husband loved. On that last day at Silverado, I hope she will take the exercise class. It's so crucial for mobility and, thank God, she is still able to stand and walk on her own. When I think of all the trips she took with Silverado, it makes me smile. I saw adorable photos of Mr. G. photobombing my sister at some farm. I adore the photo of my sister at a pool on one of the outings. Her face reflected a really good time. I have been so honored to meet many men and women who cannot live alone, but are living a reasonably dignified life with their situations. I met a woman who is so beautiful that she makes me wonder what her life must have been like once upon a time. Now, she, like so many, loves candy. I call her Candy and it's obvious her family really loves her. My sister has attended so many social functions. The last one was a luau and that Hawaiian buffet and Hawaiian dancers were something really grand. You could see that everybody enjoyed it in their own way. Well, one way my sister communicated with the world before Alzheimer's stole her words was with a silver flute. It's on a table in her room at Silverado, but she doesn't play it anymore. I'd like to ask a favor. I'll be keeping her busy while my nieces pack her things on Saturday. Perhaps you could play some flute music on her final day as a bon voyage. I know that you have all had her best interests at heart this past year. Thank you to all for each assist, kind word, medicine, redirect, class, game, meal, field trip, hair style, clothes change and prayer. If you knew how many sick children she willed to stay alive with her infinite love, as a nurse, you would know the work you do really matters. She really matters and thank you for all you have done for her.

Brenda partnered with us and was willing to speak with the care providers and skilled nursing staff to better understand what would be needed for our family member's recovery and how Sunny Crest could support the post-care plan when they returned. Having them work with us and the medical team during that process meant a lot to our family and gave us peace of mind. One of the things that really touched us was seeing how genuinely happy everyone was when our family member returned. From the front desk and nursing staff to management and the restaurant staff, everyone seemed genuinely excited to see them and welcomed them back. It really felt like they were returning to a community where people knew them and cared about them. We also believe family involvement is an important part of assisted living. Sunny Crest is an assisted living community, not a hospital, a locked-down facility, or a memory care unit. Family members still have an important role to play by staying involved, advocating for their loved ones, and maintaining communication with the care team. We've found that Sunny Crest is willing to work with us as partners, and that makes a big difference. And television is not the best company. I looked around and found a senior home with an aging population and a youthful spirit. Emerald Court has amazingly wonderful activities. When there's no holiday, they make up their own. The best holiday this year was senior prom. We all were transported to our high school days. We had a King and Queen of the Senior Prom. Besides the singing, swinging bands, we have on a Saturday or Sunday, every week on Thursdays we have Happy Hour. Holidays are another game changer. They dress up each holiday with decorations from ceiling to floor. We have a holiday party with a singing, swinging band, hors d'oeuvres and light drinks. I don't want to forget to tell you about the scheduled activities for every day of the week. When you wake up in the morning, you've got 12 or 13 activities listed on the daily activity board. We have activities from bingo to Wii Bowling Some activities are for active people and some activities are for people who sit in chairs. They don't leave anybody out.. We have two dining rooms and a bistro. . But most of all we have a dedicated staff. This place puts residents first. They take care of you with a smile and a caring heart. I'm thrilled to report that Morningside continues to meet, and very often exceeds, our very high expectations. Here are a few tips/learnings since my 2025 update. Tip #1 - My parents have a Kaiser Medical Advantage Plan. I learned recently there are some nuances to their medical coverage at Morningside's onsite Skilled Nursing facility as well as Park Vista. We've opted to keep my parents enrolled in Kaiser because they've had the same PCPs for over 25 years. Be sure you understand the potential financial ramifications if you're a Kaiser patient. Tip #2 - Do yourself a favor and ask to work with Monica Silva in the Marketing Department. She'll guide you every step of the way. She also remains an invaluable resource long after you enter Morningside as a new resident. Now on to my 2026 update as my parents start year 3 at Morningside. Over the past year, both parents have experienced minor medical emergencies necessitating EMT visits to their home. Living in NorCal, it's very reassuring to know that a quick call to the front gate and/or simply knocking off the phone receiver in either bathroom results in an immediate visit from one of Morningside's 24/7 EMTs. Several of their EMTs are current medical students. While the food selection/quality has declined a tad bit over the years, it's still very good, and Morningside's waitstaff are beyond kind and patient. My parents enjoy the entire F&B team, and they especially adore Victor and twins Liz and Melissa because they cater to their every needs. When the guest room experienced an unexpected maintenance issue on the day we were scheduled to arrive, Olga called me that morning and arranged our stay at a nearby hotel at Morningside's expense. She also provided us with breakfast coupons for the duration of our 3-night stay since our hotel room didn't include breakfast. There was a recent situation that prompted me to reach out to Sal in Housekeeping. Since I was onsite, I asked Sal for an in-person meeting and Sal arranged for us to meet the very next day. He also invited Morningside's Executive Director (Chris Oakeson) to our meeting because it involved a sensitive staffing issue. After listing to my concerns, Sal and Chris promptly addressed the issue to my full satisfaction. I could go on and on, suffice it to say my parents are absolutely thrilled to live at Morningside. My mother who has difficulty making friends is thriving in her new community. These are my father's actual words when I asked him how he liked living there, "You know, I lay in bed some days asking myself if I deserve to be so happy and live such a carefree life in this beautiful place!" I think that says it all. :)

The place is beautiful, lots of flowers and greens, plenty of parking, lots of activities and I could go on and on about all the amenities; however, the most important asset this facility has is their staff. From the front office, administration, care givers, cleaning crew, kitchen and activities crew THE MOST CARING AND COMPASSIONATE, I have yet to find someone that is not that way. My father passed just a few days ago and all the out pouring of attention that Mom and the family has received from Meridian staff has been incredible. My has decided not to move out with any of us, we wanted to take her with us, we are all good children to her I promise ; but she decided that she feels so comfortable there that wants to stay. Better compliment than that of a resident having the choice to stay or leave and yet wants to stay can't be found. Thank you Meridian staff from my siblings and I we are eternally grateful to you for the compassion you shown to my dad and the love and attention you continue to give to my mom.

The entire purpose of assisted living is to provide dependable assistance and peace of mind to residents and their families, and unfortunately, that has not been our experience. Phone calls frequently go unanswered, emails are often ignored, and most concerning of all, there have been times when she has pressed her assistance button with very long response times. Today, we decided to actually test the response time ourselves. While we were there, we pressed her assistance button and waited to see how long it would take for someone to come help her. We waited 40 minutes and nobody showed up. That experience was extremely concerning. Fourty minutes without any response isn't just poor service--it raises serious questions about resident safety. What if my mother had fallen? What if she was having a medical emergency and was unable to call anyone else? An assistance button provides very little peace of mind if nobody actually responds to it. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this facility for a loved one to ask detailed questions about staffing levels, medication administration, actual response times to assistance buttons, and how emergencies are handled before making a decision.
