My parents moved into their 2 BR/2BA apartment in June 2024. Since then, my husband and I have spent 18+ nights in one of their guest rooms each year. I'm thrilled to report that Morningside continues to meet, and very often exceeds, our very high expectations. Here are a few tips/learnings since my 2025 update. Tip #1 - My parents have a Kaiser Medical Advantage Plan. I learned recently there are some nuances to their medical coverage at Morningside's onsite Skilled Nursing facility as well as Park Vista. We've opted to keep my parents enrolled in Kaiser because they've had the same PCPs for over 25 years. Be sure you understand the potential financial ramifications if you're a Kaiser patient. Tip #2 - Do yourself a favor and ask to work with Monica Silva in the Marketing Department. She'll guide you every step of the way. She also remains an invaluable resource long after you enter Morningside as a new resident. Now on to my 2026 update as my parents start year 3 at Morningside. Over the past year, both parents have experienced minor medical emergencies necessitating EMT visits to their home. Living in NorCal, it's very reassuring to know that a quick call to the front gate and/or simply knocking off the phone receiver in either bathroom results in an immediate visit from one of Morningside's 24/7 EMTs. Several of their EMTs are current medical students. While the food selection/quality has declined a tad bit over the years, it's still very good, and Morningside's waitstaff are beyond kind and patient. My parents enjoy the entire F&B team, and they especially adore Victor and twins Liz and Melissa because they cater to their every needs. When the guest room experienced an unexpected maintenance issue on the day we were scheduled to arrive, Olga called me that morning and arranged our stay at a nearby hotel at Morningside's expense. She also provided us with breakfast coupons for the duration of our 3-night stay since our hotel room didn't include breakfast. There was a recent situation that prompted me to reach out to Sal in Housekeeping. Since I was onsite, I asked Sal for an in-person meeting and Sal arranged for us to meet the very next day. He also invited Morningside's Executive Director (Chris Oakeson) to our meeting because it involved a sensitive staffing issue. After listing to my concerns, Sal and Chris promptly addressed the issue to my full satisfaction. I could go on and on, suffice it to say my parents are absolutely thrilled to live at Morningside. My mother who has difficulty making friends is thriving in her new community. These are my father's actual words when I asked him how he liked living there, "You know, I lay in bed some days asking myself if I deserve to be so happy and live such a carefree life in this beautiful place!" AMAZING!!! I haven't even moved in yet only because I have to pick out the flooring and paint first...LOL I'll just have to suffer the best as I can for the next couple of weeks until it's ready! Honestly the entire staff have made this upcoming transition seamless. Monica, Amanda as well as Julie (who personally interviewed my dog Tipper) have been there every step of the way. I truly can say I have felt heard about every concern, question asked, and feel like they have had my best interest at hand. Morningside of Fullerton has been amazing for our parents! They were blessed to move into a lovely apartment in independent living. The network of friends they developed over the years is still such a source of joy. Mom was able to stay in the apartment while my father battled Parkinson's disease. She remained there until her stroke in Spring 2026. She was cared for in Park Vista Skilled Nursing by an amazing nursing staff and a team of therapists that literall got her back on her feet. She has just completed her move to Park Vista Assisted Living where she now has a whole new team working with her. The support from all levels of management and staff from marketing to reception has been personal, always helpful and positive. They have been supportive of our parents as they have transitioned through various levels of care never wavering from there commitment to high standards. Clearly, my parents selecting Morningside has made our lives as their children much easier; especially when you see the friendships developed, activities encouraged and care each resident receives. This review is strictly about my throwing a SURPRISE 80th Party for my mom's 80th bday who has been a resident there for about 5 years (that's a whole different review). I've been planning to do this for her for about 3 years and I've been working with Richelle for about 6-7 months to secure a room and plan...it has been a lot of work to pull it off and include residents without them knowing until after 18 family members surprised mom for the first portion of the party. Without Olga, Richelle, Tania, Julie, and Victor this would not have happened! It all went smoothly and perfectly! I would give specifics on what we all did, but it was a lot and I know it is not normal for them all to participate as much as I was lucky to have them participate. Thank you thank you thank you Richelle, Julie, Victor, Tania, Olga, and all staff in the background that I may not be aware of. The food was all delicious and service was beyond excellent!!!! I came with a friend who was interested in living here. It is very expensive. Continental breakfast and a nice lunch or dinner every day. We got a complimentary lunch and chocolate cake a la mode for dessert. The menu has lovely choices, including pizza, spaghetti, Mexican, American, and Asian. There is also a deli. Beautiful grounds. Fountains. Next to a shopping center. There are lots of amenities. Workout equipment, putting green, poker table, beauty shop, pool, exercise classes. Special interest groups. Lectures and live musical performances. Nice place to live if you have a lot of money up front and monthly. read more

It has been a little more than three years since my wife and I moved into independent living here at Morningside of Fullerton. There are many positive aspects of living here at Morningside. These include the fact that it is a gated community. The entrance kiosk is staffed by EMTs 24-hours a day who can respond to health emergencies very rapidly. The grounds are kept in near pristine condition and are very attractive. Staff, by and large, are skilled and helpful. There is a fitness center and swimming pool that can be used at any hour, and the fitness director is outstanding. She provides a wide range of fitness activities and programs to help keep us healthy. Likewise the resident services staff do an excellent job of looking after our health issues. Staff also provide a wide range of activities, including excursions for residents. Maintenance staff are very responsive and work hard to keep everything working smoothly, which sometimes can be a challenge in an older facility such as ours. Residents also contribute to the operation of the community through service on a variety of committees. Another very positive aspect is that both assisted living and skilled nursing facilities are available on site if they are needed at no additional cost except for a small fee for additional meals. The one drawback that we have experienced recently is in the food service. Many of us in our demographic have health issues that impact our food choices. These include the need for menu items that are low in sodium, saturated fat, added sugar, red meat, etc. The majority of the food choices on the lounge menu, the seasonal menus that change quarterly as well as the weekly dining room menus don't fall into that category. When the facility changed to a point system for meal charges we were promised that full nutritional values would be available for all our meals. However, that has not been the case. The nutritional information listed on the various menus often is incomplete. Currently, the weekly menus include a vegetarian choice that changes daily. It would be a big help if the weekly menus also include a healthful choice option that changes daily. read more

My parents have resided in Morningside for 12 years so far and have absolutely loved it. I was concerned when they made the move from their home on the water in Huntington Harbour that they might miss the proximity to the occean but they have never looked back. They have loved making new friends and enjoyed the community and activities very much. Now that they are both in their 90s I am so grateful they are there. I am across the country and visit as often as I can but knowing they are there and safe and can stay there is their care needs increase gives me great comfort. read more

Horrible dining staff! I've eaten here while visiting my family, many tables are left completely unattended by their server. Tables are often left dirty for long periods of time, I've seen many of them on their phones or gossiping while wait times for food can reach over half an hour. I'm not sure what the issue is or why management is not on top of their servers and their own duties, but it's sad to see the lack of care these people have for their residents. read more

When my mother died in 2010, my family moved our father into Morningside independent living. (We joke that he set the record for the shortest move--from his house to Morningside was a mere two blocks). As his health has slowly deteriorated over the years, he has gone from independent living to Park Vista assisted living and finally Park Vista skilled nursing. I can't say enough about the staff at all three facilities. Whenever there has been an issue with my father's health, I am always promptly contacted. The staff have an extremely difficult job, particularly as the residents get older and they need increasing levels of care. I joke that they are saints, but really, I could not do what they do. I feel blessed each day that my father is in such excellent care, and I would not hesitate to recommend Morningside/Park Vista to anyone. read more

My husband and I recently joined the community at Morningside of Fullerton, a senior independent living facility. The overwhelming task of putting our very large house on the market and moving into a much smaller space was made much easier by Sharon, Liz, and Amanda, the Marketing Team at Morningside. At every step of the way they were there to help with smiles, suggestions, and special treats. As for the facility itself, I took my 52 year old daughter on a tour; everywhere we went we were met with smiles and a greeting. Last week I spoke to Sharon in Marketing. I was interested in Morningside for my Mother in Law. Sharon let me know that there will be a change in the residence transportation. Residence will have transportation for medical only. There will no longer be transportation to the store, hair salon or the mall. Beware. This means the residents will be stuck in their residence without transportation. I think this company is in financial trouble. Check into walnut Manor in Anaheim or Oakmont in Fullerton. read more

My parents were among the first residents when Morningside opened. They were young (early 60's) and it was the best decision they ever made. My dad lived to go through assisted living and skilled nursing. Every single day was a positive experience. It was like resort living. They loved it. The employees really are like family. They hire the best of the best! The dining areas are beautiful and the food is delicious! Every single thing about Morningside is fabulous. So much so that my sister moved in as soon as she became old enough a couple of years ago. The entire place is spotless and every employee is friendly and welcoming. read more

My parents have lived in Morningside Independent living for 12 years. They loved it but suddenly had heath issues that found them needing additional care. They decided to make the move to Park Vista Assisted Living. The decision was hard for them but the transition was easier with the help of the Morningside and Park Vista Staff. Nikki, Amanda and others were key in the transition at Morningside. Shahnez with the initial transition but Jessica, Sandra, Alma and the rest of the staff at Park Vista Assisted Living have been amazing!! My mother has lived at Morningside of Fullerton for over 18 years. It has been a wonderful community for her to live at. After changes in her health, she needed to transfer to live at Park Vista Assisted Living. There were lots of details to handle with the move from her independent apartment to the studio unit she is now settled into at Assisted Living. Changes can be challenging (both for the resident and the resident's family members). The staff has been amazing! Olga, receptionist at Morningside Main building, has answered many questions & been so helpful & caring. The Housekeeping staff, with the excellent leadership of Sal, has gone above & beyond with assisting in SO many ways (more than what they probably needed to, as they felt a special connection with knowing my mom for so many years). Thanks, Sal & crew for ALL you have done for us! The Maintenance staff was great in assisting with our needs also--special thanks to Jose. The transportation staff has assisted especially with Mom's new needs of using a wheelchair accessible van. We appreciate you so much, team! Shahnez & Rachel in Park Vista Admissions have been SO VERY patient with my having SO many questions--thanks gals. Dr. Woo, Mary, Eric, all the nursing staff, Breanna & physical therapy staff & receptionist Yolanda (at Park Vista Skilled Nursing) also have been very helpful and patient. The people that also helped were Amanda in Marketing, Nikki in Health Svcs in giving us guidance for safest place for Mom to live when she has new physical limitations, & the entire Assisted Living staff. Jessica, director at Assisted Living, Darlene, Sandra, Julia, & Alma....we continue to appreciate how you've welcomed my mom and have helped me so much with getting Mom settled into her new home. Thanks to the caregivers who have been kind & helpful with my mom's daily needs. After my dad passed away many years ago Mom chose to move from her own house to live at Morningside of Fullerton because of having all they offer...from the independent living where she was for over 18 years & enjoyed so many social events with having so many friends, to Park Vista's skilled nursing facility which she lived at after being in the hospital with recent medical complications, & now to Assisted Living where she can get the proper care she needs to continue to live as full a life as possible. My parents were very hesitant to downsize from the 4 bedroom house where we'd lived for 40 years, but with just the two of them having to maintain the house, it became too much of a burden. We toured several retirement communities, and Morningside was by far the best. It's like being at a resort, where all they neighbors are in the same demographic. Needless to say, my parents love living there, and would have made the move a lot sooner if they knew how much they would enjoy it. The now have more friends (than I think they've ever had in their whole lives!), and actually have a social life. My mom competes in Wii Bowling, my dad sings in the choir, and they both enjoy eating nightly in the restaurant-quality dining room. (I like eating there when I visit too!) The grounds are kept clean, there are dozens of activities (putting green, croquet, dog park, gym, etc), and it's located right next to a grocery/shopping center. Plus, there are medical facilities on site, and St. Jude medical center is less than a mile away. Shuttles are available to guests for shopping, movies, medical appointments or whatever. There's a beauty salon on site for hair & nails, and even a masseuse. The pool is huge, and heated year-round. The facility is also gated with a security guard, which is a huge advantage compared to other facilities we visited. I highly recommend Morningside for any families that have oder parents who are living alone, or living in houses that are more work to maintain than needed. read more

My mother has been a Morningside resident for 5 years and I am very impressed by the entire program there. I have found the employees and management to be very engaged and committed to the residents. They are always updating the programs, activities and physical structures. Bottom line, Mom is very comfortable & happy, which means I am pleased. Any place comprised exclusively of seniors has it's challenges, the residents are often dealing with issues associatged with aging or recalling the "good old days" of their previous homes. Overall, what Morningside provides (safety, programs, dining, health support) is excellent imo. It's great to see a variety of active senior living options evolving in the area, including Morningside. read more

I am deeply grateful that my father was able to reside at MS independent living for 3 years. In that time I was thrilled with the professionalism, respect, and kindness shown to every resident. The MS amenities are exceptional. From their truly delicious food to the fabulous pickle court and all in between, I was very impressed! Volumes could be written about "all in between", but in short....there is something for every interest!...(libraries, bocci ball, rose garden, concerts....). The attentiveness of Resident Services (nurses & CNAs) is unsurpassed. Because MS nurses are well acquainted with each resident, I had complete confidence that my father was in excellent hands! Daily I was able to visit MS and observe their beautiful grounds and interactions with residents. Morningside is more than a continuing care retirement community; it's a place that comforts me in mind, body and spirit and where I can see myself aging in a "wholelistic " way. Living here, I benefit from resort-style and/or stationary cruise-ship type living with choices of elegant and comfortable apartments and villas, exquisite cuisine and new friends who continue to appreciate life to its fullness. I admire their sense of professionalism. I can choose to be low key or active in the many daily activities. I can't tell you which of the activities I like best because I love them all - I do know that I find myself welcome wherever I go and in whatever I do! What convinced me that Morningside was the place for me was the congruency in responses of both staff and residents.  Both groups LOVE being here, those who work here and those who reside here, what a beautiful combination.  Seeing their smiles gave me a lot of confidence and an overall sense of comfort; I knew then that I would be living in a safe, spacious and comfortable, elegant and caring place for the remainder of my life. If you have unsafe drivers on the road being reported to the company and you're disregarding the complaint even though it could've been someone's life in danger then what other things are going on inside. I sure as heck wouldn't put my family member in a place that can't even have safe drive. I do appreciate you taking steps to ensure that your residents are safe as well as the community but I do not appreciate you trying to get me to take a negative review down as it is not appropriate for you to do that. I understand you have high standards but trying to get someone to take down a negative review is not the way to go. read more

We moved into Morningside July 15 and given COVID19, it couldn't have been at a worse time. However we were taken care of so well that it went smoothly. While there are limited services at this time, the staff has done and continues to do the best they can to make us feel safe, protected and cared for. We are adjusting to the new environment due to the strength of the many staff members we have dealt with. Kudos to Sharon Wright, Amanda and the Marketing staff as a whole for making the move so smooth and for keeping us well informed. Looking forward to the day when we can be involved in all the activities and to share our new place with our friends. We hope that will be soon. We made the right decision to move here and recommend this place to people who are looking for an active and safe (no resident has tested positive for the virus) community. Also appreciate that they assign a resident to take you around and teach you the ropes when you are new. I have lived at Morningside of Fullerton five years this June 29th. I still love the place, even more. During these strange Covid-19 days, Morningside is way above board in our protection. Our Executive Director, Richard Nordsiek, has all under control. We get updates on the situation at Morningside all the time. Social distancing and washing your hands are constantly stressed. Everything is shut down as far as activities, meals, programs- for our safety and that of the staff. Speaking of staff, they are totally organized and everything runs smoothly. Our meals are ordered by the residents, delivered by the servers. I can't thank Morningside enough for the very special care we are getting these days. Imagine living life stress free on a regular day. and multiply it by a thousand when the chips are down and we all have reason to be uneasy. I am so grateful to be here. read more

Although this is an above average retirement home with beautiful facilities there are disclosures management do not tell people. There is an issue with security here. After staying here just three months my mother's apartment was burglarized while in the hospital. Although staff showed concern that was not enough to prevent future happenings of this occurrence. Several residents have reported breakins of their apartments while gone. Please be aware of this issue and address it to management prior to moving in. You accept all risks to your valuables. They told us they think it was an inside job and they are working on it. Check with their theft and lost policy every facility has one. I have since been told that the facility did have some responsibility in this burglary being that there are two security entrances to her room from the outside and they had no cameras in the hallway. Make sure you have insurance for your valuables. It would be helpful to put a camera inside the unit when the person is not there since there are no cameras available in the facility read more

My 92 year old grandma lives here and couldn't be happier, it's clean, friendly, pretty, well kept, and welcoming. The management does a good job as making the place festive during the holidays which adds a nice touch of home as well. She is able to attend many social activities on site and outside of the facilities and has made many friends amongst the residents. I feel like I'm visiting a fancy apartment when I come to visit her and I also enjoy eating in the dining room which has a nice selection of food for each meal and is very good food too. read more

My mother lived there for three years . On the surface , it was great . However , every service had a fee . If she didn't go to a meal and had it delivered , it was $5.00 . And she was in the main building on the first floor . They charged $75.00 weekly to set up her meds . We decided to move her closer to myself , in a similar facility . This one provides 3 free meals , free delivery and no outrageous deposit . Morningside took approximately $50,000,yes , fifty thousand dollars ,from her deposit for 3 years occupancy ,in addition to the monthly rental fee , which continually increases . . Further ,they charged $4,500.00 to recarpet and repaint an 800 sq ft apt . My mother is a fstidious housekeeper and caused no damage while there . I complained to Gary , the ceo , who only responded thta it was in the contract ! Just another example of a company taking advantage of the elderly and taking their money ! read more

My grandmother lives in a Villa at Morningside and the campus is beautiful inside and out. The staff in the dining room and grill are very personable and it is an overall pleasant environment where everyone seems happy, comfortable and well taken care of. read more
