    Caramel cappuccino

We went to American & Mexican diner for brunch and were blown away by the drinks and the food! I started with the hot chocolate and was expecting a simple hot chocolate but got a masterpiece covered in whipped cream, chocolate chips, marshmallows, and a healthy portion of chocolate syrup. I also got the western omelette to balance out the sweetness with some savory and it was perfectly cooked. My wife got a delicious caramel capuccino and the banana split french toast which was absolutely covered in whipped cream, nutelle drizzle, and fresh fruit.

Very hole in the wall spot in Hartford, but with an extensive menu with both typical diner and mexican options. The service was extremely friendly, and the inside was clean, warm and overall had an unpretentious, warm vibe. We ordered the chilaquiles, huevos mexicana, and the california loaded fries and we received huge portions of comforting food, presented very nicely. Only gripe is this diner doesn't offer complimentary coffee refills, but we still had a great experience and got good value. I would definitely go here again for breakfast.

We had an appointment at Hartford Hospital, so decided to go to a nearby restaurant afterwards. This diner is near both the hospital and Trinity College. They have an extensive menu of both breakfast and other items, many with a Mexican flair. We went for American breakfasts. I had two eggs, corned beef hash, fried potatoes and toast. My dining companion had a stack of three pancakes. The food was plentiful, well-prepared and clearly house-made. The cost was reasonable. The interior is well-appointed and there's a nice dining patio in front. Parking is on the street, but pretty easy to find a spot. Serving staff was friendly. The only suggestion I have is to get a larger window air conditioner in the rear dining room. It was a hot day and although the room was relatively cool, a higher capacity air conditioner would have helped, especially when that room is full of people.

Still come here once every 6 months or so. The quality and consistency are always top notch. Servers are really friendly and they go over the top with their toppings and displays. Canned whipped cream for the coffee, but the real deal on the plate. It's a treat to come here for me, and always worth the trek

A friend of mine who lives and works in Connecticut suggested this place. Everything is quite amazing. Yes it does not have alcohol but the food makes up for this. Every single dish looks and taste as if it were hand made just for you. I had the hash and eggs and a single French toast. The Pina colada mimosa (no alcohol) was good too. This place will be a regular in my brunch rotation. Arrive by 9 am because after that, the line begins to form out the door.

Poorly wrapped burrito with hot lettuce

Burritos are so sloppy. Flavors are just ok. The last one I got wasn't even rolled properly.

I'm so glad I discovered this gem through Yelp! My sister and I were out running errands and wanted to catch up over brunch while staying on track with our fitness and nutrition goals. This spot has a fantastic mix of sweet and savory dishes, and I can't wait to come back. I went for the steak fajitas omelette, swapping the home fries and toast for some broccoli, and it was absolutely delicious! The combination of peppers, onions, cheese, steak, and eggs was just perfect. My sister had the steak and eggs, and she loved it too. The service was a bit slow, but the staff were really friendly and attentive. They have different seating options which is nice. We were taken to the room in the back.

Packed on Brunch for a Sunday. Greeted as soon as we walked into the place. Low but perfectly dimmed lighting, Menu selection is superb! Food was very fresh, plate presentation wonderful and taste very delicious. 8/10 experience for first time visit. Likely to visit again if in area!

Mexican Omelette w/ Homefries - Grilled Onion, Jalapeño, Mexican Chorizo (pork), Jack Cheese, Avocado on top. No Tomato

We ordered the Churro Pancakes with extra Tres Leche, Enchiladas verde and Veggie Quesadillas (breakfast with no meat). The staff kindly greeted me as I arrived and everything was neatly packed and ready to go. As always, the food was delicious.

Food is amazing here. Small no frills place with a large menu. Crazy unique dishes here but unlike most wild places the food is actually great. I got an omelette with refried beans the beans were flavorful and perfect with the omelette. Would definitely come back and recommend.

    Chicken Alfredo

First time trying their brick and mortar spot. We were not disappointed, food was amazing. We will definitely be going back to trying their breakfast items. The only negative thing about this place is their huge menu which can be overwhelming. Food is great!!

Mango dragon fruit smoothie and blue raspberry lemonade

Great food and service despite being very busy. The presentation of the food adds to it.

Luckily I was able to find parking and there was a line waiting to go into Ken's corner. I didn't mind the wait since I really wanted to eat here. I'm glad I did, it was moving, and they got people in and out of the restaurant . The workers are pleasant and very helpful when deciding what to order off the menu. As I mention it was my first time there, we ordered the coconut French toast and shared the surf & turf egg Benedict. Everything was worth the wait and tasted amazing. I'm already planning my next visit to try something else on the menu. Food came out presentable and hot. Glad I came here because it's prob one of the best breakfast spots in the area.

And although busy with a line that literally went out the door, the line moved quickly enough that I didn't regret waiting. The food was outstanding, chocolate chip pancakes with some berries, a side of bacon. (two sides if I'm being honest), and a green tea. I sat outside, as it was a perfect early June morning. My only complaint had nothing to do with the restaurant. Someone in the parking lot was smoking pot early in the am and the smell was very strong. I'm no prude but for f's sake use your brain people - there were lots of children around. Not smart! The waitress was personable, the price was reasonable. Overall, an excellent experience. Try Ken's Corner soon, and you'll be adding it to your regular rotation.

The food is good. We both had omelettes and they were solid. I will knock a star off for the latkes we shared, which were very greasy. I'd avoid those. Having time to kill, and finding myself dismayed at the number of breakfast spots closed on Monday,…read moreI found myself at a place I've long considered trying: the Makris Diner. I arrived just after 7:00 AM, finding only a few other customers. Taking my seat at the counter, and noticing the "best of 2025" certificate, coffee was immediately served; and, my order was promptly taken. My choice was the big breakfast two, which would prove to be well named. Well within ten minutes, I was served three eggs, properly prepared, over easy, four very mild, frankly nearly tasteless, breakfast sausage links, a good portion of browned, but as far as I could tell, unseasoned, hashbrowns that were on the dry side (yes, ketchup was required) and finally, two slices of thick French toast, generously splattered with powdered sugar (quite tasty, I must say). In short, this meal read like a stock chart on a volatile day; peaks and valleys. The cup of coffee was acceptable, doing nothing to add or detract from the meal. At just over, twenty two bucks, before tip, the portion couldn't be faulted; but, the quality could have been better. The Makris has been there as long as I can remember; but in all my life, this is only my second visit. The first was a late night stop for a cup of coffee way back when teenagers actually ventured outside to engage in social activities; and, today, it looked much as it did back then. It was clean, comforatable and very much appealing to my sense of nostalgia. So too, I believe, that could be said of the other patrons, all of whom I expected to refer to my 58 year old self as "kid" if the need to speak to me had arisen.
