Occasionally you will have a couple people who come into this league knowing how to play volleyball but are there anyways for a ego boost. If you are new to volleyball, read here. Yes this league may be a good starting point as it's very beginner level play, it's good for work teams and meeting new people. But you won't want to be here for long. There are the occasional try-hards that will come into the league to feel good about themselves by hitting hard and running plays on a net that's lower than women's height. Another downside is that some of these players think they can play but in fact they are very dangerous and make it very unsafe. Landing under the net and causing ankle sprains when you block is very common here. So play smart, watch out for others. If you have some volleyball experience and understand the game, read here. This league is very poorly ran. You have one ref that does not understand the rules of volleyball. No calls are made, clear doubles where the ball is spiraling, crazy players who jump and land under the net, players touching the net and lifts. You call your own lines, so in and out calls are all on you and the other team. The ref literally is there to just blow the whistle for serve and then flip the score. They dont even have anyone setting up the nets for you as well, so you need to set it up yourself. The net is literally lower than womens height. So if you're here playing with some new friends who are learning to play, have some integrity to play to the level of others and be safe. I played in this league before it became Zog (Dynamic sports) id say it has changed but not for the better. Same stuff as it was 5-6 years ago. If you are looking for some better play there are other leagues out there. Campbell Community center used to have a good one they may or may not still be running. Then there's IVL if you're looking for competitive play. Zog by far is the most expensive league and the total amount of games you play in the season is less then all these other leagues I mentioned. So if you're factoring bang for your buck. Zog is definitely not that.

Age required: 21 Age…read moreas of May, 9th 2022 Why this arbitrary requirement? The league starts in early 2023. I turned 21 in August, so apparently even though I am of proper age I needed to be a few months older to qualify for this league. Can anyone explain an intelligible reason for this?

Honestly my favorite social space I have ever been to!…read more I flew all the way to attend an esports event, which was ran great through the venue. When guildhouse opened to the general public in the afternoon, the atmosphere lit up. It's so casual and just a nice place to come and relax with your friends. There are a ton of amenities, whether it's board games, video games(both PC stations and console stations), and esports streams displayed the whole time. Such a great place if you want to avoid typical bars and want a gaming or anime themed environment!

There are weekly tournaments, a PC area, and plenty of board games. Because this spot is in downtown SJ, it can be a bit difficult to find parking, though for $10-20 you can find a spot in a nearby lot or parking garage. It is a spacious venue, and there is always something going on. They occasionally do get rented out for events, though, so I'd recommend checking ahead of time, especially if you're not a regular. The staff here is great; everyone is really friendly, and the bartenders are quick and accommodating. The food here is decent, though it can be a little slow in coming out. Their selection of drinks is solid as well, and the bartenders are helpful in making recommendations if you're unsure. Overall, it's a really great spot to hang out after work--there is free WiFi, a ton of space, and a lot to do. I'd recommend figuring out when they're hosting events you enjoy or coming by with some friends if you're interested in board games.

Chelese, the event manager was extremely easy to work with and the staff was very helpful. I expected the food to be good but it was truly outstanding. I've rarely been to an event for a large number of people where the food was so exceptional and many guests raved about it. I strongly recommend the University Club as a venue for your event.

I absolutely love the University Club of Palo Alto!…read more For me, the highlight is the pool. I love swimming here--there's an excellent lap pool where you can sign up for lanes, a diving board for extra fun, and plenty of open swim time for families. Kids can't get enough of the swim team, and there's even a shaded baby pool that's perfect for infants and toddlers. The tennis courts are top of the line, whether you're playing just for fun or competitively. The tennis pros are fantastic, and the whole tennis community here is great. Pickleball is also really taking off--it's always fun and social. The gym has everything you could want: Peloton bikes, free weights, machines, and a full range of classes. Beyond fitness, people also gather for bridge, mahjong, and other activities, so there's something for everyone. The food is excellent, the full bar is always a plus, and the events calendar is packed. There are great adult activities (salsa dancing, wine tasting, Aloha nights) and plenty for kids too (kids' night out, movie night, and more). Best of all, the community is welcoming and friendly. It's easy to meet people here, and many members end up making lifelong friends. All around, it's a wonderful club--I can't recommend it enough!
